This comic is from personal experience. Over the weekend, I played in a Premodern tournament. Instead of playing my usual Gro-a-Tog list, I decided to switch things up and play slivers. I thought it would be a great metagame call because Crystalline Sliver is hard for so many decks to deal with. In the end, I ended up going 2-3, and I was pretty frustrated that the deck didn't turn the corner fast enough and had trouble with combo decks. And guess which deck one the tournament? My beloved Gro-a-Tog deck--played by someone else!

Had something similar happen to me with Yugioh recently. I've been thinking about dropping the game because I thought the deck I've been one tricking for a few years now was in a terrible spot, and a few new cards I wanted to play in it were super expensive (look up Fydraulis Harmonia and Dominus Spark, I'd run 3 of each). Ten days ago, a guy who's known for being really good at that same deck managed to top 8 a Vegas regional with neither of those cards and now I'm copying his list and cracking the copium tank.
