MagicCon Amsterdam, Day 1 (Patreon)
Content
Before I head out for day 2 today, I thought it would be fun to quickly share my experiences and some pictures from Friday. Here's what I saw at the front of the convention center.
I should have also taken some pictures of the line to get in. Even though I intentionally arrive a little late, hoping the lines would die down, they were still massive!
The convention wasn't as huge as Vegas, but still super impressive. People told me that they had opened up some previous halls in comparison to the last MagicCon Amsterdam.
One of the things I enjoy doing at MagicCons is making comics for people in the community that I appreciate or have been helpful in spreading the word about Cardboard Crack. Here is me meeting Kathleen De Vere from Loading Ready Run. I don't know who was more excited, her or me!
I also met Shivam Bhatt, who is a great advocate for casual Magic.
Since you are part of my Patreon, I'll let you in on a little secret. I also have a comic for Brian Lewis (also known as The Professor). He's so popular, and constantly surrounded by a crowd of people, I don't know if I'll get a chance to get it to him. Wish me luck!
Of course, a key thing for MagicCons is picking up cards. Even though there were way less vendors than Vegas, it was perfect for me to pick up some foreign black border cards to play in Premodern. Here are my best pick ups so far on top of an appropriate playmat.
Other than this, I played a bunch of Commander in the Command Zone. It's fun for me to meet new people and here about other players' experiences with the game. This MagicCon has been particularly fun for meeting players from all different countries (seemed like there have been especially a lot of German players). When you step away from the online dialog, there is so much more positivity about the state of the game, Universes Beyond, and everything else!
Just a final reminder that my Meet & Greet is at 5-6:30pm today. Please let me know you're on this Patreon if you stop by. It's nice to connect faces to names!
