AI — To Use or Not to Use? That Is the Question!!
- Continue with hand-drawn frame by frame (even though it takes longer, it's more original) 9
- Go ahead and use AI! I'm okay with it (as long as it keeps your style and doesn't look ridiculous) 28
Hey everyone, I swear I thought today was Wednesday, and then I realized — IT WASN'T!!!
Goodness, how fast the days fly by...
Well, it was an intense week of tests upon tests, which left me pretty frustrated at first, since dealing with AI initially felt like some impossible beast to tame.
Unlike AIs like GPT or the Google one whose name I can't remember off the top of my head, AIs for NSFW purposes are either local or paid. I even tried installing Hermes agent, but it and I didn't get along, so that was that... that wretched thing...
Well, before I started drawing and writing this beloved game, I used to make wooden pendants and rings — hand-carved ones — as you can tell, going around whittling wood isn't exactly high-tech!
That made my journey with AI harder, but since I'm stubborn, and I don't stop until things look the way I think they should, I managed to get it working the hard way. Do I fully understand it? Not really! But enough to generate some images... let's look at some results!!
There were countless tests — I lost count after the fifty-fifth attempt... big numbers make my brain short-circuit.
This one, as you can see, is a direct continuation of the sunbathing scene. The AI used only two drawings to make it. (To reach this many frames manually would take weeks; the AI does it in about 15 minutes [counting just one attempt]. You can imagine that with less time needed to produce an animation, we can bring more content in each update, or make smaller but more frequent updates — but that's for another poll.)
This one here is the same scene from a different angle with a different character. (Which opens the door to doing different angles of the same scene, or making it more interesting to replay since you'll catch different things each time :D)
This one took longer because the AI didn't have a body reference from the first image. I'll need to keep that in mind when drawing going forward — the images I used here I already had mostly ready!
BUT — it's not all sunshine and rainbows. I still haven't managed to do climax scenes with AI — or at least not decent ones, which worries me quite a bit. This one, for example, is one of the least-bad ones I managed to generate, and it still turned out pretty rough... It's worth showing the failures, because the final product doesn't always convey how much effort went into it — how many mistakes were made and corrected — sometimes from inexperience with what you're doing (like my case with writing prompts), sometimes because the work just genuinely takes time, and if we want to do something good, well, good things take a while. My fear is making something slow AND bad — then we're really in trouble!! — But I hope you can see how much care and dedication goes into this :L
Another long post.... slow.... but important to share, since before this new PC, AI was completely out of the question. Now with the tool in hand... the possibilities could be endless... But that also depends on you!!!
What do you think of the results? Would you like to see scenes like this in the game? Do you like the style? Or is it better to keep everything hand-drawn frame by frame — forget it, let's just draw!!!!
I managed to stay pretty faithful to my own art style :L — that surprised me. I still want to run more tests on climax scenes and try other scene types, but that'll take a little while longer. If it works out, I'll bring you some spoilers...
With all that said, leave a comment along with your vote. I'll give it 7 days — let's keep this a quick poll... because if the vote goes toward using AI, I'll already have drawings ready, and if not, well, I'll have drawings ready either way...
Sound good? Big hug from Bone for Soup <3
