Monthly story - male sharkmer x reader (nsfw) (Patreon)
Content
As ever, I cannot stick to my own self-imposed wordcount of 3k words. Here is 5420 words of shark mer for your monthly exclusive story. This one will not be on Tumblr :)
Warnings for serious injury (not to the reader), blood, hospitals, but not to spoil it or anything, but you know me… it’s gonna be fluffy and a bit smutty. If you want to skip the descriptions, it’s only two short paragraphs, and it starts at “Your stomach flipped over at the sight of it; not just from the injury itself, but at the realisation that this injury hadn’t been an accident.” And it ends at ““Shit,” you cursed. “They can’t treat him here…”
***
When Garreth woke you at at four in the morning, you knew it had to be an emergency. You always stayed at the research station on Fridays after work, since there was a bed spare in the little bunk room, and the team liked to hang around and socialise, so it was just easier.
“Hey, wake up,” he said, shaking you none-too-gently.
“What?” you croaked, shaking the grogginess and fog of sleep from your mind as best you could. Something about his voice sent a thrill of fear down you and you blinked. “What’s happened? What’s wrong?” you asked, sitting up to see the usually hearty looking werewolf with an ashen face.
“There’s a shark mer who’s washed up after last night’s storm, and he’s in a pretty bad state: serious wound on his torso, dehydrated, tangled in discarded fishing line… I called the paramedics. They’re on their way, but I need your help to keep his skin wet.”
“Lead the way,” you said, scrambling out of bed and dressing hurriedly into something a bit more practical than your ragged old pyjamas.
Garreth was already back out on the beach by the time you were finished, and he was kneeling beside a prone figure on the sand, a bright LED torch on the beach beside him casting strong shadows. The inky waves of the sea were lapping a long way away, the storm from the previous evening having left the sea as apparently exhausted and spent as the shark mer who had been washed up.
Your feet carried you across the last stretch of the beach, and you stared down in shock at the mer before you. He was big, built like an oceanic white tip shark, with a bronze hue to the grey of his thick, powerful body, and the skin of his upper half, his human half, was incredibly pale, like the underside of his shark tail.
You didn’t have time to take in his face or features, though you vaguely registered pale hair. Your gaze snagged on something that was so utterly out of place, lodged in his torso, that your brain refused to accept it at first. Your stomach flipped over at the sight of it; not just from the injury itself, but at the realisation that this injury hadn’t been an accident.
This shark mer had been harpooned.
The barb stuck out just above his hip bone and entered his body through his back, just at the base of his ribs. Blood and sand congealed around the exit wound, and you closed your eyes, fighting another wave of nausea.
“Shit,” you cursed. “They can’t treat him here…” you added, kneeling beside him. He didn’t move, and he lay there, barely breathing, with his eyes closed and his mouth slightly open. “This… This needs surgery.”
“I know.” Garreth’s voice was dark, full of barely contained rage, and he hardly managed to grind out his instructions. Honestly, the werewolf looked on the point of shifting, which wouldn’t have helped matters at all. “Get that bucket and soak those towels in sea water. He’s been drying out on this beach for too long already.”
By the time you’d made three trips back to the sea to top up the bucket and keep him wet, the paramedics had arrived. Starfall Bay’s coastguard and emergency medical aid was funded by the breathtakingly wealthy Silkfoot family, who lived in the enormous mansion above the springs themselves, and the paramedics’ uniforms all bore their family crest. While they worked, you simply stood there and stared at the merman lying on the sand, struggling to breathe.
You’d never felt so helpless in your entire life.
Two paramedics cut away the extra length of the harpoon to leave the main shaft still inside him, to be removed during surgery, and they lifted him gingerly onto a stretcher and bore him away, leaving you with reassurances that he was in good hands now, and that you could visit him at the Starfall Springs Hospital once he’d been through theatre.
“If he makes it,” Garreth muttered darkly, washing the blood off his hands in the bucket and tipping it into the sand with a sour expression on his weathered face. “Who the fuck does that to a mer?”
“Some sick bastard, for sure,” you said. The adrenaline had burned off now, leaving you tired and shaky. “I’m going to clean up. Will you be ok?”
He nodded curtly.
Before turning back to the hut, you looked up at him. “What were you even doing up at this time anyway?”
Garreth sighed. “Couldn’t sleep. It’s a full moon tomorrow, and I always get restless and cranky. I thought a run along the beach would do me more good than lying in bed staring at the ceiling,” he added, looking down at his sandy, baggy running shorts. “Good thing I found him,” he sighed. “He wouldn’t have made it to dawn, I’m sure.”
“He’s in the right place now,” you said, trying to reassure yourself as much as the werewolf. “Go and take a shower too, and we can head into town later and get some breakfast. Afterwards, we can walk up to the hospital and see how he’s doing.”
Garreth nodded. “I should let Caspian know what happened while he’s been away,” he said. “This is something the merfolk need to know about.”
“Good thing Caspian’s partner has a phone,” you said, thinking of the human you’d come in to replace. You’d not had the chance to meet her before she’d left with Caspian to visit the research laboratory and assist with his project there, and, more likely, to spend some alone time with the octomer who was, by now, much more than just her research partner.
Hours later, you and Garreth walked up through the old town of Starfall Springs, along the gushing river, and up towards the forest. The sharp point of the lich’s tower was just visible through the trees in the distance, and beyond that, the cliffs, foothills, and shoulders of the mountains which eventually became the single peak of Starfall Mountain. The summer storm had swept the clouds from the sky and left a searingly clear day in its wake.
The hospital was not exactly one of your favourite places to be, but Garreth took the lead while you just stood by his side, praying that the mer had made it through surgery. You couldn’t shake the image of that powerful creature just lying there on the beach, with that thing through his body. Anger rose like bile in your throat until you balled your fists to stop the shaking in your hands.
A touch at your shoulder made you jump and you looked up into Garreth’s kind face. “Hey, it’s alright. He made it. Shark mer are tough as old boots, apparently. Come on, let’s go visit him.”
The hospital wasn’t exactly like the human-centric hospitals on the other side of the Glasspeak Mountains. There, if a non-human got injured, they were almost always sent unceremoniously to a vet’s. Here, they were treated according to their needs, and with the large population of selkies and merfolk just offshore, this hospital had an aquatic department, with special tanks and pools to help them recover.
It was to this department that you and Garreth made your way, and when you found the shark’s shallow recovery pool, you knocked and stepped quietly inside, not wanting to wake or startle him. He was lying underwater, his gills working gently, and his torso had been bandaged with special drider-silk dressings and wrappings that would help to heal him.
He stirred as the door opened, and he lifted his head carefully above the water.
You blinked at the sight of him. The first time you’d seen him - sand-coated, blood-stained, battered and bruised and bleeding, wrapped and tangled in slicing fishing line - he had looked truly pitiful. Now, with the only real evidence of his ordeal being the bandages around his waist and ribs, and the pink lines in his lower half where the tackle had been, you were able to see his face more clearly, and appreciate him on a different level. Yes, his body was powerful and muscular - most shark mer who were build like him had the muscles and fitness of MMA fighters - but his face was stunning. With skin as pale as tropical sand, he had silvery grey hair to match, the colour of high cloud on a bright yet covered day, and his eyes were bronze flecked with gold, with slit pupils.
“Hi,” you said as you stepped inside and looked around for somewhere to sit so that he didn’t have to strain his neck. When you didn’t find anywhere, you simply sat down on the floor beside his pool. Garreth hung back and paced. “How are you feeling?”
“You’re the ones who found me, aren’t you?” he asked in a voice that was husky and deep. His eyes tracked the werewolf’s movements before sliding back to your face again, eyelids fluttering slightly, and with a dazed look in his pretty eyes.
“Yeah,” Garreth said.
“Thank you. You saved my life.”
You shook your head. “You never should have been in that position in the first place,” you snarled. “Who the hell did that to you?”
“Oh, some whaling boat off the coast,” he said with a cautious wave of his hand. Unlike many mer, shark mer did not have webbing between their fingers. You noticed, however, that the third and fourth fingers of his right hand were missing, ending in mere stumps. His eyes caught where yours had landed, and he chuckled. “Not my first encounter with whalers, though I came off a bit better this time… all things considered.”
“How… How can you be so… so… calm about all this?” you asked, bafflement making your voice squeak a little.
He chuckled and then winced. With a grunt and a slight adjustment of his position, lying in the three-foot deep pool in front of you, he shrugged. “Maybe it’s the meds,” he snorted. “But what else can I be? Should I be thrashing around in here, demanding justice and instant release back into the ocean?”
Garreth’s deep, whisky-rough chuckle made both of you look up at him. “Fair enough. What’s your name?” he asked, introducing himself and you in the same breath.
“Requius,” he said. “Friends call me Req…”
By their very nature, there was something otherworldly about all merfolk, but Requius seemed to have something else about him, something alluring, and you felt some strange pull towards him, even as you sat there motionless on the side of his tiny recovery pool.
“What were you doing so close to the surface in a storm to get washed up?” Garreth asked, and was met with a weak but toothy grin.
“Hunting,” he said. “What? The Starfall seals are the fattest and tastiest in the area. And yes, before you can ask, I can spot the difference between a selkie and a seal at two hundred yards.” You knew something about the hunting habits of shark merfolk - especially open water ones like him - and you also knew that they were not above picking off other sapient beings from time to time. His eyes told you that he was cheeky, but telling the truth on this one. Probably.
“Well, look,” Garreth said. “I’m glad you’re doing alright. They say you’ll be here for another month or so, getting some physio and rehab before they release you.”
Requius’ eyes went dull at that, and he sighed. “A month without open water,” he murmured, puffing his cheeks out in a dramatic sigh. “Gonna be tough… not gonna lie…”
“But then you’ll be back out in the ocean again,” you said, trying fruitlessly to cheer him up.
He obviously appreciated the comment, and tossed a quick smile at you. The strength seemed to have leaked out of him and he stifled a yawn.
“We should let you rest,” you said, levering yourself to your feet. “I’m really pleased you’re going to be alright though.”
Requius offered one final smile as he sank down into the water. Before his lips passed below the surface, he murmured, “Thank you again. I owe you my life.”
“That’s what we’re here for,” you and Garreth said practically at the same time. Garreth looked at you, and you let him continue. “The research station is set up there to monitor the coast, but it’s also there to help mer, and their relations with landfolk. I’ve already filed a report with the coastguard and the local police about the incident with the harpoon…”
The shark mer nodded again, his white skin seeming to turn a little grey as exhaustion threatened to knock him out. You noticed, a little late, that the pool had a very gentle current to it, and that he was in fact gently tethered in place by the two pectoral fins on his lower body. If sharks, and a number of merfolk too, didn’t have water passing over and through their gills, they could die for lack of oxygen. The pool was set up so that a mer who couldn’t move about yet because of their injuries could still breathe.
He slid beneath the surface and you left, not wanting to linger while he rested.
It was three days before you had enough time or energy at the end of the day to go and visit him. You stopped by the fish stall in the market, just before they closed, and bought a small bag of raw squid, hoping that he’d like it. You knew that it was commonly regarded as a delicacy among mer, but of course, not everyone enjoyed the same things.
Requius’ grin as you entered his room made your stomach flutter, and his eyes seemed to brighten. “Hey,” he said, his voice still just as croaky and deep as it had been a few days ago. “You came back!” He sniffed then, raising his nose to the air and opening his mouth slightly. “Is… Is that… What can I smell on you?”
“Squid,” you said, bringing the bag out of your satchel where you’d stashed it in a Tupperware box for transport. “You seem perkier already. You like it?”
“Like it?” he chuckled. “Oh boy. I love squid.” Then his eyes narrowed and he pushed back off the edge a little. “It’s not cooked, is it? I hate what you landfolk do to it - covering it in that gritty stuff and boiling it in oil til it’s like nasty little rubber rings…”
You had to laugh. “Nope, it’s fresh off the ice in the market, and raw as the day it spawned…”
“Perfect,” he crooned, and then he seemed to remember himself. “It is for me, right? I mean, you’re not just carrying it around for dinner later or something?”
“No,” you said, still chuckling. “It’s very much for you.”
You tipped it from the bag into the box and set the box down on the water. The Tupperware bobbed around like a little plastic barge full of the unmentionable sight of raw squid. Requius ate the lot, ravenously.
He moaned as he licked his fingers clean, and once again, your eyes were drawn immediately by the gap where his last two fingers should be. He didn’t seem to notice you staring, and you forced yourself to stop being so rude. “Man, that was good,” he said, humming in delight.
“So now that your stomach is feeling happy, how’s the rest of you doing?”
He brought his hand to the bandages and touched them lightly below the water. “Sore,” he admitted. “And I don’t think I’ve been this still since I was still inside my mama’s belly!” he laughed. “If I don’t rip my stitches open, I think being cooped up in here for a month will kill me!”
“Ah, it won’t be so bad. You’ll be in a bigger tank in no time,” you said. “In fact, when I asked the nurse, he said they were planning on moving you in a few days.”
Requius gave another happy grin and rolled back below the water for a moment to wet the gills on his neck. “Still gonna be boring though…” he said when he resurfaced. “There’s nothing to do here…”
Out of the blue, an idea hit you. “Listen, have you ever watched a movie?”
His silver-white brows knitted and he shook his head, slit pupils dilating a little. “They’re the moving picture things, right?”
You nodded.
“Nope.”
“Not many screens underwater I suppose,” you said. “Well, would you like to watch something? I could bring my laptop and a couple of movies to choose from…”
“You’d do that? For me?” he asked, obviously taken aback.
“How is that different from the squid?” you asked.
Requius took a moment to mull his answer over, and then said in a quiet voice, “It’s… It’s your time, you know?” he shrugged. “You don’t have to babysit me.”
You eyed the long length of his muscular body with ostentatious slowness, taking in the corded strength of his arms too before you returned your gaze to his face. “You,” you said, “Are probably the last person on the planet who is in need of babysitting. You look like the kind of person who can definitely take care of himself.”
“Except when landfolk on ships come at me with harpoons,” he growled.
With a shudder, you said, “If any of them had fallen overboard before that, I doubt they’d have lasted long…”
The grin he gave you in response was definitely the smile of a shark. “Too right.” Seeing that he’d unsettled you, he ran his fingers through his floppy, silver hair, and sighed. “Look, I know we sharks don’t get much of a good reputation, you know? We’re like the gnolls of the sea I guess… But honestly, I don’t hunt humans, or landfolk in general. I hunt barracuda, mackerel, marlin, and tuna - anything that’s fierce or fast. Preferably both.”
“Well, luckily for me I suppose, I’m neither fast nor particularly fierce, so I guess I'm safe.”
“Yeah,” he smiled, stifling a yawn. “You’re safe.”
“I’ll let you get some more rest,” you said, fishing the Tupperware box from the pool.
“I’m sick of rest already,” he snarled under his breath.
Looking down at him, you could see why. His body was one built for activity. “We’ll see what we can do to distract you next time I come…”
“I’ll try not to eat too many of the nurses between now and then, I promise,” he grinned.
“That’s good to hear,” you said with an eye roll as you left.
His soft, amused laughter followed you down the corridor.
Next time you visited, it was a weekend. Having taken care of a number of chores that morning, you grabbed your laptop and power cable and a few DVDs off your shelf, stopped off again at the fish stall and bought two mackerels, and made your way to the hospital. You were surprised, and pleased, to learn that he had already been moved to a larger tank, and was allowed to move around a bit now, though the nurse on duty at the ward shook her head and said, “He’s a troublemaker, that one. He bit the doctor who tried to stitch him up again after he ripped them the first time we let him loose in there. You be careful now, alright?”
“I will,” you said, frowning. That didn't strike you as the Requius you knew, but then again, you’d only met him three times, and the first time didn’t count since he’d been unconscious and at death’s door.
You knocked and entered the new room, and saw that he had a ten metre, circular pool. The shark mer was swimming slowly round and round like a caged tiger, using the strength of his tail to carry him forward without using his arms much. When he spotted that someone had entered, he broke the surface with a scowl on his pale face, but when he saw who it was, his features softened.
“Everything alright?” you asked warily, not going any closer.
“You heard then,” he said, turning away.
“I heard you bit the doctor who tried to patch you up again…”
“It was a reflex. It hurt, and I did apologise.”
You inhaled and let the breath go slowly. “Fine, well, as long as they know that…”
He nodded. “How are you, anyway?” he asked. “Still not bored with the idea of visiting my fish tank yet?”
With a roll of your eyes, you sat down and pulled out the Tupperware box of foil-wrapped mackerel. “Here,” you said, watching his face light up. “Is that answer enough for you?”
Requius’ golden eyes widened, his pupils soaring almost to eclipse the rings of flecked bronze around them, and you had to laugh. He looked like a cat presented with a tin full of tuna. “Hell yeah,” he said. “You brought these for me?”
“I don’t see anyone else here who wants to eat raw, un-cured mackerel… Certainly not me!”
He ate with enthusiasm, and when he was done, he rinsed his hands off and then, to your surprise, grabbed your hand and squeezed. Adrenaline shot through you, and you almost jerked back, thinking perhaps that he was going to yank you into his pool too, but he released you and said, “Thank you. Hospital food is… well… I’m told it’s nutritious, but…”
You smiled understandingly. “So I brought some films to watch,” you said, setting up your laptop on the top of the Tupperware to keep it dry. “Please don’t get this wet,” you cautioned. “It won’t work if it gets wet, and I can’t afford to buy a new one.”
He nodded gravely.
In the end you settled for a trashy action film. It wouldn't have been your first choice, but then again, this wasn’t about you.
“You come in and join me?” he laughed once you’d set it up and turned the laptop around so that you could both see it. He was hanging from the edge of the pool with his arms crossed and leaning on the lip, and you had sat down beside it. The water didn’t come right up to the top, and you’d picked a dry patch.
“I… I’m not sure…”
He shrugged, and you let the matter slide.
Requius ended up loving the movie. He was riveted, his entire attention on the story and the action. “I didn’t know land people could fight and move like that,” he said. “I thought only creatures with wings could…”
“I mean, some of it is done with wires and special effects,” you said, standing up and easing the stiffness out of your limbs and back. “But yeah, it’s cool. You want to watch another one some other time?”
“I’d love to,” he said. “You really don’t have to though…”
You gave him a look. “I’d like to.”
His answering smile sent a rush of heat southwards down your body.
Next time, it was too late in the day to buy him fish, but you hoped he wouldn’t mind. He was healing rapidly, and when you arrived, he was clearly bored, charging round the pool, creating a huge bow-wave that washed up well over the edges as he passed. It splashed over your shoes before you could hop out of the way, and you complained loudly enough that he came to a screeching halt, sending more water spraying around the place.
“Shit! I didn’t know you were coming,” he said. “Ah, I made a big mess of everything, didn’t I?”
“It’s ok,” you said. You’d come slightly prepared this time anyway. You set the laptop up on the empty box again, apologising for not bringing him anything. He took your hand again and the sensation of the smooth, cold skin of his palm skim across your knuckles stole your breath for a moment.
“You don’t have to keep bringing me food,” he said. “I mean, unless you really are courting me…?”
“What?”
He snorted and let go of your hand with a laugh. “Mer who are ‘stating their intention’, I guess you could say, will hunt down and bring the fastest, meanest fish they can find and present it to the one they want to start courting.”
Your cheeks heated and his smile only grew wider. “I didn’t know that…”
Requius laughed and rolled over in an easy, lazy barrel roll. His torso seemed to have healed remarkably well, and when you said that, he nodded. “You have to heal up quickly when you live in the sea… there are some mean folk out there…”
“Meaner than you?” you teased.
Something flashed across his face and he sighed. “Yeah.” After a moment, he said, “So, which movies did you bring me today?”
To your surprise, he chose a romantic comedy, and once you’d slipped it into the laptop and got it started, you turned back to him and bit your lip.
Requius frowned. “What?”
“I thought… I thought maybe I might… join you this time? If that’s ok?”
All the tension left him in a rush. His shoulders dropped, and he laughed softly to himself. “Of course it’s ok.”
“Is it cold…?” you asked, only just thinking of that.
He shook his head. “It’s gorgeous.”
You dipped your hand in, and found that it wasn’t too bad. In fact, it was pretty warm, probably around 27 or 28 degrees Celsius. You could always get out and towel yourself off anyway. Nervously, you undressed to reveal your swimwear underneath. His eyes drank in your body without restraint - particularly your legs as you slid out of your jeans - and his throat bobbed, eyes flaring bright.
You tried to ignore the way he licked his lips as you slid into the pool beside him.
“You sure this is allowed?” he grinned at you.
“Probably not. Let’s start anyway, shall we?”
He nodded and settled down beside you. Occasionally you noticed how his body would drift sideways towards yours where you hung off the edge as well. It was deep enough that your whole body was in the water up to your collarbones, but your feet could touch the bottom easily, so you didn't get tired. Every time his pectoral fins came into contact with you, or each time his side touched yours, his breath hitched and his cheeks flushed.
The fifth or sixth time this happened, you realised that he wasn’t really concentrating on the film any more. You glanced to your left and, through the rippling, clear water, you saw that two cocks had slipped free of the sheath in his lower body and were standing flushed and erect against his skin. He lowered his head and cursed. “I’m sorry,” he said breathlessly. “It’s… It’s nothing…”
You reached your hand out for him and he rolled over listlessly in the water, lying on his back cocks exposed, eyes flickering closed. He hissed something under his breath and both cocks twitched. They were each as long as your forearm from wrist to inner elbow, and their serpentine forms started off a hot red colour at their base and faded to white at their tips. They coiled suddenly around each other, as though seeking out some kind of contact, and he moaned, gills pumping.
You suddenly remembered about tonic immobility in sharks and shark merfolk, and reached for him again. When turned on their back, they nearly always fell immobile and blissful. He had turned himself onto his back though, at the merest of your touches. “Req?” you asked. “Can you hear me?”
“Mmm,” he murmured.
“You want me to flip you over again?”
“No,” he sighed, words slurred and vague. “Maybe? I mean, if you want to. I’m sorry. This… this is… I didn’t mean for this to happen…”
“Was it the film or something else?”
“It was you,” he admitted with a wry chuckle. “The feel of you… the sight of you… I shouldn’t… but…”
You swallowed and licked your lips. The moment the flat of your hand came to rest on his underside, he tipped his head back, almost completely submerging it underwater and let loose a ragged moan. His cocks twitched and broke the surface, leaking and drooling pre-come into the water. Tentatively, you reached out and wrapped your hand around both of them, with some difficulty, and pumped upwards experimentally.
Requius lurched wildly and swore. “Oh fuck,” he said. “Oh fuck, that’s so good. Oh…” A wild shudder ran through him from head to tail-tip, sending ripples across the pool, and he bucked upwards into your hands, splashing water and then drifting slightly away from you. “I can’t…” he grunted. “More… Please… I can’t get close enough to you…”
At that, you grabbed his pectoral fin and tugged him gently closer to you so that his rough sharkskin body was pressed close to you. You could feel yourself getting deeply aroused as well at the sight of him, but you pushed that aside for now to concentrate on him. “Easy,” you said. “I don’t want to hear that you bit the doctor again because I made you rip your stitches…”
He managed a wonky smile before you gave his cocks another stroke and he lolled back into blissful arousal.
You worked his slick, hard cocks in your hand until he was gasping, gills pumping wildly, fingers clawing at the empty water as though desperate for something to cling to. When you felt he might be getting close, you slowed your rhythm and, sure enough, he keened and whined, whimpering and begging you for more. The tips of his silky cocks were above the water, still leaking pre-come profusely into the water in thick, pearlescent ropes. He was so close now.
Curiously, you leaned over him and brought your tongue to the slightly larger of his cocks. At the heat of your mouth sinking around his head, Requius howled, barely able to warn you before he crashed into his orgasm. His body twitched and jerked wildly like a fish in a net, spilling his release over your hand and into the water of the pool.
Finally he went still and started to sink. You let him go with a little laugh, deciding that you could give him a poke with your toe in a minute if he didn’t start to move. He recovered fairly quickly, and the current in the pool took his release away so that when he resurfaced, looking stunned and dazed, that was the only evidence of his activities. “Fuck,” he said, when he had gathered his senses. “I wasn’t ready for it to be that good…”
“Thanks?” you said with a smile. “I think?”
He nodded and swam close to you, and although he was a predator, you felt only the exhilaration of the prospect of an impending kiss. He wrapped his tail awkwardly around your ankles and hung upright in the water, using your shoulders to balance at first, and then he took your face gently in his hands and kissed you. He was unpractised, but the emotion was there. He grabbed a fistful of your hair and deepened the kiss, seeking out the heat of your mouth.
“Let me repay you?” he whispered hoarsely when he pulled back.
“When you’re better,” you said.
“I am better,” he countered hotly, but you shook your head. “I can smell how much you want it,” he growled, nuzzling the skin of your neck and raking his sharp teeth across your throat.
With a sigh, you nodded, allowing yourself that one pleasure for now. “I do, you’re right, but you’re still healing. Next time maybe…”
He kissed you again, fiercely, and when he drew back this time, his face was set. “I’ll hold you to that, human.”
