Discord drabbles - Female goblin x human (sfw, 3rd person) (Patreon)
Content
Here's another discord drabble for you! I loved this one and would happily write a story for any one of the characters referenced in this... not just the goblin girl!
Content/prompt: "A little easily flustered shortstack goblin sitting by a window while it’s rainy with a cup of cocoa", waiting for a date/blind date setup... Words: 623

She sighed, tucking one of the vibrant pink strands of her forelock back behind a sharply-tapering ear, and wrapped her long-fingered hands around the mug in front of her. It was a hand-thrown mug, dipped in a shimmering glaze that made it look more like a potion spill than a latte mug, and she smiled, tracing one of the deliberate drips with a fingertip while she waited.
Her heels swung freely against the seat, and even though it was a pretty averagely-sized chair, it almost completely drowned her. Nerves fizzled, not helped by the inordinate amounts of caffeine fizzing its way through her bloodstream while she waited for her date to show. Gods above and below, what was she thinking? She’d only spoken to this person through messages on a dating app… Her feet drummed a steady rhythm against the legs of the chair, back and forth, back and forth, while the rain hammered on the windowpanes.
“Who gets to a place half an hour early anyway,” she grumbled to herself, fiddling with that pink section of her fringe again and twisting it into a tight spiral around one knuckly finger. Stewing in her own nerves and regret, she tried to watch the other customers, but with little success.
A massive bison minotaur was laughing with the tiniest scrap of a human being, and she felt a sudden lurch of jealousy, hoping that her date would treat her like that - respectful and playful, enjoying her diminutive size but encouraging her at the same time with friendly touches and playful glances. Oh how she truly ached for that.
Rivulets of water skimmed down the old, bevelled glass, full of bubbles and a colour reminiscent of pond water, and she turned her gaze instead to watch their progress, each droplet racing the other down to the windowsill where they all pooled on the old wood and peeling paint.
A merman rolled inside in a manual wheelchair, laughing as a human held the door open for him and kissed him on top of his shaggy, damp head. He had a stunning, betta fish tail - all frills and elegant, fire-red fronds - and his skin was a rich, vibrant brown beneath the rain-soaked t-shirt.
With each jangle of the brass bell, the goblin pricked her extremely pointed ears up, sitting up straighter in her chair, but none of them looked her way, and she deflated each time like a sagging balloon. They weren’t going to show.
Until someone finally did.
She nearly knocked her latte all over her lap when the human stepped inside and looked around, clearly searching for someone specific. Something inside her lurched joyously when they spotted her, and she barely dared hope they were here for her. Oh gods, they were. They had to be. They knew they were going to be meeting a goblin, and, oh yes… oh gods, oh wow… oh… wow…
As her brain scrambled to keep up, she realised that a hand had been extended to her and she swallowed thickly, forgetting for a moment that she had to release the earthenware mug in order to shake the proffered hand.
“Hi,” she rasped, self-conscious of her rasping voice and short stature. If she’d stood, she’d barely have come up to the human’s bellybutton, but seated on the chair she was at least at chest height. Did that make it better? Or worse? Oh gods… how did one even date a human?
“Hi,” her human replied, laughter dancing in their eyes. “I’m so glad to meet you at last!” They paused, taking a nervous breath, and added, “You’re so beautiful! And I love your hair!”
And at that, the goblin short-circuited completely.
