“Hey! You made it!” you cried as you scurried up the platform to meet them the moment their train drew to a halt. 

The buds crowning their head were tightly bound, displaying their anxiety for all to see. “Yeah,” they said. “Holy Gaia, this is a bit different…”

“I know. We can take a break whenever you need, ok? But I have to show you the Natural History museum. You’re gonna love it. Though if you bring the dinosaur exhibit to life, I think we might get into trouble, ok?”

“Got it,” they nodded, taking your face in their hands and nuzzling their nose against yours. “No mischief. I will let myself be guided by you in all things. What is that?!” they barked, gaze sliding over your shoulder to something behind you. 

On the platform, near a bench and sitting with an older lady, sat a black pug, wheezing and chuffing awkwardly as it snuffled around, hoovering up crumbs here and there. 

“That, my dear, is a pug.”

“A pig?”

“No,” you snorted. “A pug. It’s a dog!”

The dryad stared at the tiny, wheezing creature. “Poor thing,” they finally settled upon. “Alright. I’m ready for dinosaurs. Lead the way.”

“Hold my hand. And… tell me if it gets too much, ok?”

They nodded. 

And then promptly lost their shit at the ticket turnstiles.
