Hello! In case you missed my little snippet from yesterday with Oats the kelpie's story, I wish you a Happy New Year! May 2024 bring you everything good and wonderful.
Here's this month's offering - a female monster this time, and a gender neutral reader, and we're back in Starfall Springs again, and after two months of extraordinarily long (12k each!!) stories, I'm back to the more normal and manageable 2-3k word stories with this one.
Content: casual hookup that could be interpreted to go further in the future, no specific body parts mentioned during the sex scene, gender and body neutral readerWordcount: 2702
Starfall Springs wasn’t a glitzy resort like Oyster Cove or Silversand Island. It wasn’t somewhere the extremely wealthy went, unless they had a reason to visit one of the Silkfoot family, of course.
So when you pulled up to the door of Shell Cottage, a tiny, cozy, stone fisherman’s house with limewashed walls and tiny, deep-set windows, and a slate roof that bore moss in between the tiles like extra caulking, you expected the resident to be someone… ordinary.
Of course, ‘ordinary’ for Starfall Springs was a bit more of a variable term than it was for the larger cities, where non-humans tended to be outnumbered 10-1 by humans, so since moving to the quaint, seaside town, you’d come to expect the unexpected with every delivery.
Leaning your bicycle against the rough wall of the house, you unslung your insulated backpack and carefully extracted the bag of hot food, enchanted to keep its contents warm and fresh all the way to its destination, and approached the front door.
Before you could knock, however, a voice drifted out to you from inside, and its owner did not sound happy at all.
“… I don’t care how they got left out of the article, I really don’t, but you need to include images of her paintings in the bloody article about her paintings! She’s an artist, for crying out loud! Gods-dammit do I have to run the entire fucking magazine myself? Fix. It.”
Shit. Sounded like someone wasn’t enjoying their holiday at all. Still, you had a living to earn, and you weren’t going to do it eavesdropping on angry city folk who ran magazines about artists, or whatever this person did.
With a decisive knock on the cutesy, cottage door, you stepped back and waited.
The door nearly flew off its hinges when the occupant opened up, and you looked up at them in surprise. And then up. And up.
At nearly seven feet tall, the tiefling inside was… huge. And… gorgeous.
Her tail lashed back and forth behind her like an angry cat’s, and she was wearing… oh by all the gods… You’d had the door answered to you in all sorts of getups, from cartoon-pyjamas to athletic attire, tuxedos to even just underwear, and one horrifying occasion where they’d worn nothing at all, but this was the first time you’d ever been… affected by it.
To be fair, she was wearing a silk dressing gown, patterned with red and black roses and tied with a red silk sash about the waist, but it was only loosely tied, and it plunged down at the neck to reveal a teasing sliver of her black lacy bra and full breasts.
Her skin was a vibrant, scarlet red, even in the fading light of day, and she almost seemed to glow in the light spilling out from the room behind her. Her black hair was plaited back off her face and the braid dangled forwards over her right shoulder, and her hair flowed like ink around the base of two thick, dark, ram’s horns that coiled outwards in a lazy spiral from her forehead.
You met her searing, forge-coal eyes, with their slit cat’s pupils, and swallowed.
“Uh… Food… delivery…” you said, holding the enchanted bag out to her with your jaw slack.
She regarded you for a moment, then inhaled, exhaled slowly, and closed her eyes. Her voice, when she spoke next, was nothing like the angry tirade you’d overheard only a moment earlier. Silky, rich, and warm as a summer evening, it caressed your mind almost like an incubus’ charm. “Thank you, sweetheart,” she said, and she fished a note from the pocket of her silk robe. “Here.”
You took the cash tip mechanically and then nodded once and stepped back, biting your lower lip just a little. “Have a nice evening,” you said automatically.
“You too,” she said, and began to close the door.
Just then you glanced down at the note clenched in your hand and goggled at it. “Wait!” you exclaimed, unfolding it just to make sure. It was a fifty. “Wait, I don’t have change.”
She chuckled, low and throaty. “I didn't ask for change, darling. Keep it.”
“You sure?”
Her eyes flared briefly, almost as if they’d caught the light of a car passing behind you, though there was only the dark expanse of open sea behind the retaining wall of the harbour, and there were no fishing boats coming into port that night.
“I’m sure. You take care now.” And with that, she was gone.
You tried to put her from your mind as you headed back to the tiny restaurant in one of the backstreets of the quaint, seaside town. When Marius saw you, the chef laughed and grinned toothily at you. The gnoll had found his niche as a chef who catered ethically for the more unusual diets of the non-humans in the area, so usually you didn’t ask him what was in the orders you delivered to the town. Somehow though, you still imagined that the tiefling you’d just visited consumed pan-seared human hearts or something from the fierce look in her eyes.
Marius sent you one one final run that night, to a centaur with a craving for a sweet pie made with fairy-grown apples, and when the whimsical creature had quite literally petted you on the head and sent you on your way, you began to wonder if perhaps the non-humans of Starfall Springs thought you something of a pet yourself.
“Marius?” you asked as he dropped a weighty cleaver into a hunk of meat and you looked away before it hit.
“What’s up, lamb-chop?” he asked, using one of his many, odd nicknames for you.
“Am I cute to non-humans?”
The gnoll paused, and then gave a high-pitched, snickering giggle and nodded. “Positively delicious, why?”
You weren’t entirely sure how to feel about that. “No reason,” you mumbled.
“You’re perfectly safe here,” he chortled in between the thunks of the cleaver against the chopping block.
“Says the bloody gnoll wielding a carving knife,” you muttered.
His big, round ears obviously picked it up all the same, and he gave a full-bellied laugh that filled the restaurant kitchen and resonated in your ears as you left to head home, wondering just how the residents of Starfall Springs must have seen you.
To your surprise, you had an order for the same cottage the next night, and the night after that, and every night for a week.
The tips too were… out of this world as far as you were concerned, and so was she.
The first night you returned, she was wearing very ordinary, black sweatpants, but the tank top she had on made her arms and shoulders look unbelievably inviting, and the ‘so tight as to be painted-on jeans’ she had on the next evening filled your imagination when you went to bed, such that when you went back yet again for the fourth visit that week, you could barely look her in the eye.
Thank all the gods you had the next day and night off.
After dealing with a few chores at home, you headed out to the harbour for some lunch, visiting a little cafe that made the dreamiest sandwiches you’d ever tasted, and you took your spoils to a bench on the waterfront to watch the tide lapping gently at the stone bulwark of the harbour.
With seagulls circling and wheeling above you, you tossed the crust of your sandwich to them and watched them scrap over it, only to hear a throaty chuckle coming from you left, and you looked around to find the gorgeous tiefling standing there wearing running lycra leggings and a sleeveless, form-fitting tank top.
“Hello,” she said cautiously, as though uncertain whether she should break those unspoken social rules or not.
“Hi,” you just about managed to breathe, while your brain short-circuited in the background.
The day was warm, and although the whirling sea breezes kept things from getting uncomfortable, she had a delicate misting of sweat around the crown of her forehead, and it made you want to touch, and even to taste.
“Listen, I hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable that first night you delivered my order…” she said. “I… I was wrapped up in an emergency for work, and I opened the door before I thought about what I was wearing.”
“It’s fine,” you chirped. “Seriously. As outfits go, that was actually quite tame.” You regretted it the moment the words were out of your mouth, and you watched in dismay as one sharp eyebrow rose slowly upwards.
“Tame, huh?” she said, cocking her hips to one side and smirking dangerously.
Backpedalling furiously, you stuttered, “No, not… not like that… I just mean… you know… I’ve seen… things.”
She barked a good-natured laugh at that, and said, “You mind if I sit a moment?”
With a shake of your head, you shunted yourself up the bench a little and she sank down next to you with a groan and cricked out her neck. A long moment of silence stretched before she said, “Gods, this place is pretty.”
“Yeah…”
You weren’t looking at the view.
She snuck a sidelong look, and smirked again. “You live here then?”
You nodded mutely, then managed to croak, “You… You on holiday?”
“Sort of. If I didn’t take a break from work, I think my doctor would have found a way to make me stay away. Things have been… stressful. This place is a balm.”
“Yeah, I found the same when I moved here.”
“Not many humans here,” she observed. “At least, not that I’ve noticed.”
“Yeah, we’re kind of rare, but there are more of us now.”
Her glowing, ember-gold eyes regarded you for a couple of heartbeats, during which time your heart had enough time to pick up a decent gallop in your chest, before she said, “My name is Ev. May I ask yours?”
You told her, and she held out her hand for you to take. Her nails were black claws, sharpened to careful points — not sharp enough to turn into talons, but definitely not rounded and smooth. Your back and shoulder blades prickled with a dormant longing.
As if she felt it — perhaps she did, or she had some other sense that alerted her to your steadily-stoking arousal — she smiled gently, eyes dilating. “Do you work every night?” she asked.
Shaking your head, you swallowed. “Today’s my day off.”
“Feel like coming by anyway?”
“...Yes…”
Her fingers, still wrapped around yours in a handshake that had gone from cordial to charged in the space of that first question, tightened and you felt your spine straighten just a little.
Then she released you and stood. “Mustn’t linger, or I’ll get cold. See you later. I’ll cook.”
“You… cook?” you asked. “Then why…?”
Her eyes fixed you in place as she turned to go. “Maybe I just wanted an excuse to see such a cute human every night.”
“But…” you thought back to the tips she’d given you, and something curdled briefly in the pit of your stomach. “I…”
She obviously followed the same track of thought, and sighed. “I wanted to compensate you for your trouble. I wasn’t paying for your company, though I’d gladly pay any price you asked, sweetheart.”
“No price,” you breathed.
Slowly bowing her head so that her long braid slithered forwards over her shoulder, she said with an earnest expression on her beautiful face, “Come by tonight if you feel like it then. I’d love to see you again. Any allergies or dislikes?”
You replied with your usual answer, and she nodded before setting off at a loping jog you could never hope to keep up with, and you shamelessly watched her figure as she retreated along the harbour and cut back up into Starfall Springs itself, tail hanging effortlessly behind her for balance.
When you showed up at her door, she stepped back to wave you in, and apologised almost immediately, saying that cooking in holiday accommodation never went as smoothly as one hoped it might. It smelled incredible, and when you told her as much, she softened and relaxed gratefully.
In fact, the meal was amazing, and afterwards, after clearing the table, she came up close behind you in the kitchen and let her hands slide down to frame your hips. “May I?” she exhaled, her voice full of barely-restrained longing.
“Yes,” you replied, body lighting up as she tugged you close to her chest.
Her fingers wandered beneath your clothes for a while, before she turned you with a decisive motion and backed you against the kitchen counter behind you. Her hands found your jaw and she held you steady with the lightest of touches, her eyes burning. The faintest prick of her claws against your skin sent a shiver right through you and you gasped softly.
“Gods, I want you,” she growled. “I wanted you the moment I saw you standing in that doorway.”
For that evening, you were entirely hers.
She led you upstairs and undressed you with an intoxicating mix of fervour and reverence, until you were on your back on the bed and she was atop you, showing her strength and stamina while grinding herself against your body. Wet and eager, she groaned each time her hips rolled languidly, and her tail coiled tightly around your ankle and then around your whole leg, constricting until it was just the right side of painful.
She guided the two of you gently closer and closer to release in synchrony, her hands worshipping your stomach and chest, until she growled like a panther and leaned down to take a kiss from you.
Her sharp canines nipped your lower lip but she never broke the skin, and she managed to be tender and ardent with every motion until you were gasping and shaking beneath her.
“Please,” you moaned.
The hard planes of her stomach and hips contrasted with the fullness of her breasts, and as you toyed with her dark nipples, she arched her back and gasped.
“I’m so fucking close,” she snarled. “Do that again. Gods, you’re perfect. You’re going to make me come, you beautiful creature,” she said, her alto rough and her hips still insistent.
The heat of her body was excruciatingly good, and it didn’t take long for you to find yourself right on the edge as well.
“Ev,” you panted. “I’m close. I’m going to come, I’m…” Your hands grabbed for her horns, as much for something to hold onto as for the pleasure of the act itself, and the sensation seemed to drive her wild.
“Yes. That’s it. Come for me,” she demanded, her hips snapping repeatedly and her hand sliding lower. One more thrust, one more touch, one more kiss, and you were both done for.
You came with a yell as spasms wracked your body, and you felt her tail tighten around you as she clenched and came too, shuddering and moaning.
As the two of you came down together, she rolled off you and drew the sheets up over you to stop you getting cold, and before too long, a heavy drowsiness swept over your limbs.
You didn’t notice sliding into a deep, restful sleep, but when you woke hours later, you found yourself wrapped up in her warm, solid body, her arms around you and her chest pressed protectively against your back.
Deciding you didn’t need to move, you let sleep claim you again, and when you woke in the morning, it was to the scent of coffee and fresh pastries drifting up from the kitchen below, and a bunch of flowers on the pillow of the side where she’d slept.
There was a note attached to it, and you fumbled sleepily to open it.
“Good morning, beautiful,” it read. “Thank you for last night. I got up early, but you take your time, and come downstairs whenever you’re ready.”
You joined her a while later, and after a divine breakfast together, you suggested showing her some of your favourite spots in the town for the day.
To your delight, Ev accepted.
