Loving your reaction. All love and respect, but I do think you might be overthinking a little bit, focussing too much on what's really going on and trying to solve things. To quote IWTV, "let the story seduce you!" :D There are some things that I think have been cleared up, that you are still wondering about. It might be worth rewatching the first few episodes again, just to clear things up. The story telling is very subtle, it lets the editing do a lot. But then the editing can be misleading, so maybe I'm being fooled by hindsight, thinking it is clearer than it is. Hannibal is less of a mastermind with a grand plan, and more motivated by whimsy and seeking amusement. As a psychiatrist he's interested in seeing how certain things can affect different minds in different ways. He'll do something just to see what happens, how people react. He's interested in Will, and his way of seeing things, and he wants to see how certain things will affect him. He thinks of himself as so superior to everyone else, he just wants to puppet master them. He sets things up, not as a master plan, but because he could use it later, to push someone or something in a way useful or interesting to him. Hannibal doesn't need to kill her, because he has put her in a position where he could do more damage to her! We've seen him manipulate things, so Abigail has to ask him for help, putting her on the back foot. She let him know he was the man on the phone, with that comment at the house in front of Will and Alana, so he put her in the position where he has a secret of hers, and he made her secret loads bigger than his. It's more manipulation and positioning people to be indebted to him. Abigail will be a running thread, and there will be murder cases completely unrelated to that, or to Hannibal, and some Hannibal murders. I hope this wasn't too spoilery or condescending. I do think that the start of Hannibal needs to be watched a few things, for new watchers to really get to grips with what it does and how it tells the story. Remember the next episode should be Oeuf, not Coquilles! If you watch them out of order it will be even more confusing! Can't wait to watch more with you!

Im actually rewatching now!! Im on epsiode 2. And everything you said about him thibking he's clever than everyone else and want to see what makes them tick (like him calling Hobbs and paying attention to Will's respond se to the situation) and playing with people. I figured that's what he was doing but then yeah...my brain started to unravel as it always does 😆😆 i do appreciate your comment. I needed it because I tend to wanna figure things out instead of letting the story take me there and I've been working on that *but failing haha* So thank you Kitt!!! ❤️ I will let the tale seduce me! 😉

Yay I'm glad to hear that you're rewatching! This show is endlessly rewatchable, I've been rewatching it over and over since it aired, and I still see new things! I love a murder mystery, and of course I want to solve it, but this just isn't that kind of show! We're not meant to work it out ourselves, we're meant to sit there thinking wtf at the nonsense Hannibal is playing!
