*Note for readers: Willow Creek is an R-rated horror comic.*

In the early 2000s I met an artist named Josh Medors from Columbus, Ohio. He was an extremely talented person with quite a bit of charm and charisma. He used to call me "rock star" as a nickname, because I play music, but really, it was him. The guy lit up the room wherever he went.

And wow, could he ever draw.

He had some success working with Steve Niles of 30 Days of Night fame before doing a run on G.I. Joe for Devil's Due. During that time I co-published his book Runes of Ragnan alongside Image Comics. Then his childhood friend Denny Williams had an idea for a werewolf comic and I signed on to co-write it, with Josh doing the art.

We started off strong by putting out a solid preview issue in early 2008 and then had decent sales for #1. Sadly Josh Medors found out he had cancer while working on Issue #2. That, and some shady business practices by the publisher, put Willow Creek on the back burner.

We lost Josh in 2012 and, out of respect for his legacy, shelved the project.

I'll write more about my time with Josh Medors one day. It might be as a graphic novel, or perhaps as a prose piece. I do feel there is a story to be told. Until then, I invite you to read the work we did together via the downloads below. I wish we could have produced more.

Art is eternal. If you have the ability to create it, then you have a gift. That gift must be shared. Each time I think that over it reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite authors:

“If my doctor told me I had only six minutes to live, I wouldn't brood. I'd type a little faster.” ~ Isaac Asimov

So no matter the time you have left, type a few extra words here and there. Draw another picture. Play another note. Dream another dream. And if you just want to support art, read a little more, listen a little closer, watch for the details that mean so much. Isaac and Josh can see us from wherever they are at. Let's do them proud.
