All throughout the book there are so many little details that artist Chris Moreno executes like the master storyteller he is. This page in particular, however, has some nice touches.

Lucifer's proposal comes laced with the promise of vengeance, but at the same time even Dracula knows there is a price to pay. The snake in panels 1 & 2 first appears to lure him in, then immediately hisses as if it could suddenly strike. Lucifer's arm around Dracula's neck seems to show camaraderie, but really denotes he is pulling him into his service -- to be forever trapped in darkness.

Chris was in his early 20s at the time and was already lights year beyond the crop of comic artists coming up during that era. I always thought he should have received more recognition and, of course, more work. He's since moved on from drawing comics full-time and is now the art director for The Muppet Babies tv show. I'm fairly certain he's doing an amazing job there as the series was just renewed for a third season. I wish the comic book industry appreciated him more but that's how it goes. It's a brutal business. Their loss completely.
