Donnie Rhodes is the public face of Rhodes, a powerful corporation with multi-national and interstellar business interests. His family is intensely private and rarely seen, so he is a lightning rod of sorts. He was identified at an early age as having an aptitude for maximizing social interactions. During that formative time he was sent to the best schools and had the premier tutors. Over time he was given all of the resources necessary to eventually go out and achieve the family's goals.

Recently the idea of him finding a romantic companion has been broached. Someone who might make a potential marriage partner. It has been calculated that it would good for business. But who and how? Donnie lives in a very cutthroat world in which people seek to cunningly take advantage and gain position. Who amongst them could really be trusted?

And so another assessment was made via the family's AI think tank: Look on the outer ring of influence. Someone not completely in, but not without. A candidate who can navigate this world but is still grounded to the one outside -- the one in which 11 billion people live.
