I beggg you! To see the live jorge made for this saga! It has animatics and explains what's happening!

luplop

He uses feminine pronouns because he describes Odysseus pride as a demsel in distrace, and when he puts enough pressure the pride's "true nature" is revealed

Michelle Schaefer

The whole song is a damn danger motif, just like Ruthlessness I feel The eyebrow raise at "Tell me" yap. Lukes voice is stunning "Captain?" "I have to see her." "But we'll die." "I know." PURE HEARTBREAK!!!!!!!!! As someone else said the "her" is a personification of the pride that caused the crew to slaughter the cow. It might be because of the goddess of pride that he associates pride with femininity but it also makes sense to just assume because it's Zeus he sees something to look down upon/something he can controll and punish as something female. Danger motif on the strings, yeah I agree! Sounds like it! Oh it would absolutely be amazing to think about what would've happened had Polites survived. Having someone so pure and loving of the world around could've really helped. Maybe even with Poseidon?

Liz Lilliman

I think it's all the crew that he sentences to death

AceOfTheDeck

Okay but they kinda deserved it- you'd think after the first time they WOULDNT KILL A GODS PET. Now, both of Oddys best friends were killed because of them killing a gods pet- only 1 of them actually deserving it (and it isn't polities) Also I love how in the FIRST song its ZEUS who says "the blood on your hands is something you won't loose, all you can choose is whose." At first, it was either his life or the baby's. Now, it once again is his life or his MENS. Zeus has both times given Oddy a choice and each time he's chosen HIMSELF.

TheBookWyrm

This song is ROUGH. Mentally, Odysseus is the lowest he’s been so far, and at the end of it all he’s completely alone. Worst of all, it’s his own fault- and he *knows* it. Every choice he’s made has led to this. Pride is his fatal flaw, and as we see here the only person it HASN’T been lethal to yet is… himself. Musically though it’s excellent.

draeonic 🪼

"I said Eurylochus is going to die in Act II" at last I can say this: IT'S THE ODYSSEE. ODYSSEUS IS THE LAST SURVIVOR, POLITES AND EURYLOCHUS WERE ALWAYS GOING TO DIE (and my man Perimedes, RIP 😔)

Chase Elmquist

Now that they would no longer be spoilers for you, some, not all, of the vocals in no longer you are "Siren song" "Scylla throught" "Mutiny" "Thunder bolt" And that is all Jorge has revealed Also Zues said "pride is a dansial in distress" this is the reason for the feminine pronouns. And it boils down to Zues' actions around women.

Elijah

You've definitely gotta watch some of the animatics that were on the livestream. It made this song hit me straight in the feels.

D'artanyan Knowles

Hey, Casper. First, I wanted to say that I love your reactions and your Epic breakdowns are my favorite along with Mortius and I'm super excited for OAR. I wanted to say in regards to Penelope's part and the Just a Man choir, I personally believe they are both summoned by Zeus himself to convince Odysseus even further to turn on his men. Like Zeus already knows Ody's heart is already weak but he wanted to give him that one final push to get him to turn. That is how I interpret that part in my head.

Elijah

I truly love how the entire motif of Spaky Hades is a Danger motif. He truly is the god not to mess with, and the crew had to go and mess with him. I hate to say it, but that they deserved their fate.

ShadowFox1412

Eurylochus and the crew: stabs Odysseus. Odysseus: chooses to let Zeus kill the crew. Eurylochus and the crew: surprised pikachu face.

MildlyPerturbed

In the livestream, there was an animatic where Odysseus points to the crew and chooses them to die. The crew dies, and Odysseus falls into the water with them.

CF Entertainment

There is currently no Jorge-approved way of watching the livestream but as soon as the animatics come out, I'll check them out

MildlyPerturbed

He might have called it EPIC because the original poems were called EPICs. Like Homer’s EPICs, which are the Iliad and Odyssey.

jayden_arsonew

notice how zeus just monologues til after the first chorus, because hes so high and mighty he doesnt even acknowledge them at first

Geveryging

He knew that Zeus was in the song and that’s soo impossible he must be the profit

BlueBoy

The use of feminine pronouns is an extended metaphor!! Zues is known in mythos to take advantage of women, hence, the strange sexual nature of the lyrics (undress her, pressure). In this case the "pride" that is being referred to as "she" is Odyussues's pride! Plus. The greeks and specifically Zues were patriarchal so likely has something to do with that "damsel in distress". He is here to teach Odyussues that his pride is going to be broken/humbled. (if this make any sense)

Geveryging

Odysseus: kills 6 of the crew The crew: stabs him when he is about to kill another one of the crew Odysseus:shocked pikachu face

Geveryging

I just finished the ocean saga thing and have about 6 times he became a profit

AstralAegis

As others have said, Zeus is not referring to any goddess of pride, but to Odysseus' pride, specifically his pride as a king. A king is supposed to serve and protect his people. Sacrificing himself on their behalf is expected. But Zeus is here to undress Odysseus' pride, exposing to both his crew and to himself exactly who he has become. Someone willing to sacrifice all his bonds to obtain his desire. Odysseus is humbled here and forced to accept himself. Odysseus isn't afraid of dying. He's afraid of not seeing Penelope and Telemachus again. So his selfishness here can't be explained by cowardice. He's making a deliberate decision to become colder.

AstralAegis

The classic meaning of Epic is "a story". The Odyssey is an epic. /The/ epic, as many would say.

Jacob Minger

Odysseus went down with the ship when the rest of his crew died but he survived and is just floating in the water among the wreckage (as shown in the trailer)

Leonidas

So this act really makes Odysseus way worst then he was in the Odyssey lolz in the Odyssey Odysseus just goes past the sirens and dosent kill them, he doesn’t sacrifice 6 men to scylla he just goes there and they die trying to get past her and so never has a fight with Eurylochos, when they do get on the island of Helios Eurylochos does disobey Odysseus and kill the cattle and then Zeus in return kills the crew but he never gave Odysseus any choice to save either himself or the crew he just did it

Maggie Curtin

It also makes it sadder which might be controversial but in this version the crew essentially commits suicide

Kristina [Lady Greensleeves33]

Essentially, Zeus is known as a womanizer, someone who often chases women down and doesn't take no for an answer. So in this case, he's using feminine pronouns for Pride to describe how he's 'undressing' or exposing Odysseus' prideful attitude and vision of himself as a King and Captain and what his 'true nature' actually 'conceals' - that he's not defending his crew above all, even when that's his excuse - it's all about his selfish desire to get home and who will help him get there. And when the chips are down, he will sacrifice anything and anyone to get there.

Mager

Casper: Eurylochus must die! *Eurylochus dies* Casper: NANI!?

lady lexi

well he did say that was going to become a monster and now his actions are monstrous so he's living up to what he said

Leo1235_812

Well, Athena has a spear and Ares is the god of war/weapons and then Hephaestus is the god of weapon-making

draeonic 🪼

Yeah but he said he was becoming a monster "so we all don't die" and that quickly turned out to be a royal we...

Leonidas

The crew essiantly does the same thing in the Odyssey the only thing that changes is that Zeus didn’t give Odysseus a choice to sacrifice himself for them there he just killed them

Malie AgentKR

I mean, in The Odyssey, Odysseus is told 2 options on how to get home AND told that 6 of his men will die if he chooses Scylla, and after weighing the options he chooses Scylla anyway. So technically he does kill them by making that choice, but yeah definitely doesn’t mark the men that he’s sacrificing

Malie AgentKR

I’m still not over Odysseus saying “my brothers… why?” as if he didn’t basically confirm that he sacrificed crew members AND said the line “I will not let you get in my way” to his right-hand man, like my guy you’re so smart what were you expecting 😭

Phoenix_mercury

This one absolutely on purpose, theirs no way they didn't connect the dots, eury was done with odys bs and said fk it, also the first time that was Ody that killed the sheep

Kirru

casper is the profit confirmed

Geveryging

I’ve found 13 times he became the profit in act 1

Mager

I also like the idea of Zeus singing of him basically having sex with pride to show Odysseus crew how F they are and how he will F them so hard

Endelia Chantebois

I think you should, and hope you will (probably with Mortius hehe), loot at the livestream of Jorge when revealing the Thunder Saga (and the new Troy and Cyclop saga), beacause there is some animation for 4 of the 5 songs, and i think it will answer to some of your questions especially on the last 3. And since it is a collaboration between Jorge and those artists, it is i think "canon" in EPIC. By the way, great react, i love it, your reactions are great !

Evie

so we fulfilled some of the prophets tellings. a song of past romance: sirens a sacrifice of man: scylla portrayals of betrayal: mutiny a brothers final stand: thunder bringer

Cindy Bariani

Mortius got a permit. Talk to him and see how he did it

Kori

I think the "we" only applies to him and his family. As it always has.

Zakksu

Not gonna lie after Thunder Saga I've come to appreciate where Polites was taken from us so soon since we know Ody would've had to choose himself over the crew which would've meant Polites would've maybe died here too? So glad our boy knew Ody when he was kind meanwhile Eurylochus had to die once Ody became a monster. This song is so epic love Zeus so much here what a great voice And I 100% agree with you about the light Polites brings. We need kind people like him in this world. Maybe the world would've been much kinder if we had more people like him. And it's a funny thing but if you ever wanna see an alternate reality where Polites lives I say read a good fanfiction haha that's where I go for all my fix-it needs but yea I'm also angry too I'll love Polites forever & I'll carry that light of his for the rest of Epic & in my life because kindness is brave indeed.
