I decided to do two studies in watercolor instead of gouache this time. I know gouache can be re-activated, but it wasn't coming out the same (at least with this cheap set I have lol) and I noticed I was wasting a lot of paint. Watercolor gives a similar effect anyway, so I might stick to watercolor and then use gouache where I want any darker, richer pigmentation for now.

My favorite part of doing these studies is that I can actually see how much I've improved traditionally. This is the same exact paper I said I hated months ago when I was doing daily figure drawing studies. I still don't like the raised texture very much, but it works well enough for what I need here, especially for practicing. My ability to capture likeness has gotten faster too! It's the little victories. 🙏(Random side note: I updated my goal tier! Mainly to take out 'learning oil painting' for now.)
