Next year I plan to make a few big changes in my art career. I have always been pretty terrible at advertising myself as an artist, and worse than that I hate asking for support (which is why I suck at promoting this patreon lol) But if this is going to continue being my career, I have to learn to be proactive. I've spent the last few weeks really thinking about what kind of work I would love to do in an industry setting, and how I can improve that  specifically.

I narrowed it down to character design. I love creating characters, and it's one of the things I actually have some confidence in, so that is going to be my main goal for the rest of this year and into 2020. Another goal for next year is to finally start building an online portfolio, so I bought an artstation subscription as incentive. Along with character design, I'm going to keep practicing my illustration skills.

Another thing I've been considering doing is making 'adoptables' for people to buy and use as OCs or for their D&D campaigns. I could make it into something fun we can do together, with all of you giving me ideas for characters that I can then draw. I would make the price reasonable, and the ones that don't sell can go into my portfolio?? I have to think about it some more. For those of you that play D&D, do you have any resources that list all of the different species and classes that can be used? It doesn't just have to be a fantasy setting, right? I've never had the chance to play. I really want to make a female Orc, so I might have to start with that!

DndBeyond is the best place to search up information about DnD races and classes. Their blog is full of resources too. I highly recommend checking them out!

That site is exactly what I needed, thank you! D&D has always been really interesting to me, but I've never had the chance to play and there is just...so much information. 😅

I've been playing for 14 years now so let me know if you have any questions. I play weekly and I live for it. 💜💜💜

If you want to branch out from fantasy, there are RPGs for any setting you can imagine. Call of Cthulhu is set in the 1920's. Vampire: The Masquerade is set in modern times. My personal favourite is Shadowrun set 60 years in the future where Magic has returned to the world. Imagine Bladerunner but there are orcs and elves and ancient reawakened dragons who now run megacorps and sometimes run for president of whats left of the USA.

There are a lot of options! I think I'll stick with the standard D&D fantasy setting at first, and then try some other settings later on.
