Alternative 100% Orange Juice Card Styles: A Preview (Patreon)

As the first step of 100% Orange Juice card improvements, we turned the cards fully customizable through lua script, while closely approximating the original card style.

Now that has enabled us to add multiple alternatives for the card designs! We're happy to share a preview with our backers here ahead of the update! The post will turn public on July 17, so everyone can dive into the rationale behind the new models which should already be usable by then.

The card design can now be selected on the character customization screen. 4 new options are available:

Unity Card Model

This redesign is inspired on our earlier redesigns that were planned for the buried Unity remake of the game. The charm point is the large real estate given to the card art (the bottom of the full artwork is slightly cropped to bring the focal area into closer view).

Unit cards now have a background based on the character's origin game.

Neo Card Model

This model prioritizes legibility with an extra large font and strong colors. Players with vision impairment, or those playing on a small screen may find it useful. For once, the card uses a sans-serif font to deliver a more modern look that's easy to read.

The background color of each card type has a much stronger emphasis on the entire card design!

Full Card Model

Like the Unity Card Model, the Full Card model features a large card artwork. All the card info is in text format in the description box.

The unit card has the stats vertical, but in larger size than in the Unity Model.

Simple Card Model

And finally, we have the Simple Card Model, which is exactly what it sounds like! Super minimalistic with maximized performance for slower machines (it takes about 1/100th of the CPU time of the default card model!). This is also intended to work as an easy base for any modding.

The cards can already be fully modded through their script files in scripts.pak, and we will be adding Workshop support for sharing your favorite styles later.

Note that the images don't necessarily show final quality and may be further adjusted before release.
