One of the strengths of Gintama is its brilliant storytelling in medium-length arcs. Each arc has its own independent theme, yet it still connects to the main plot of the whole series. Deep messages are also delivered subtly through the characters’ lines. It may be a matter of personal preference, but to me, story is always the foundation of a good work. You can see that the fight scene between Gin and Zura is great in this movie, but it appears near the end. While it has the ability to hook viewers with action and visuals, it instead chooses to captivate them through its story. Gintama is like fine wine to me. It tastes different every time I rewatch it. I have watched many great anime, including newer ones, but Gintama remains my personal favorite.

I did not realize that they would show kyubei and others at the end of this movie— I guess it makes sense, since the movie remake came some years after the ark showed up in the anime. So they are expecting the audience to be gintama fans just rewatching Anyways, lol forget you ever saw them.....spoilers

Goated reaction! Yall if you can rewatch the fight at the end they hid some much of gintokis fighting style in there switching weapons constantly and throwing swords to Katsura! Also if you can watch on youtube there is a more accurate translation on subtitles that fits better i think

Just wanna give credit to the anime, while yes, the animation is old, the actual fight scenes(for the most part) and such did not change in the movie. It's literally just crisper. The fight on the boat was a major upgrade outside of just crisper animation tho. I recommend watching it again just to see how much is happening with Gin and Zura. It's really cool. The things that changed in the movie were some songs, some added people, and some scenes were slightly altered, or completely new ones were added.

here's a crazy fun fact about the benizakura arc. there are 4 versions of the benizakura ark. Manga, Anime, Movie and Live Action. what's crazy is the difference between them is how the shinsengumi are involved. Ep 62 will have some small continuity issues since the during the anime and manga, the shinsengumi did not appear at all. The movie added a bunch of additional scenes to allow the shinsengumi to be present but act more as observers. Live action takes it a step further by actually having the shinsengumi take part in the battles and also gave sougo more screen time. I know you guys probably wont watch it. But I would give live action benizakura movie a go as it gives you a fantastic what if story and the character work is amazing.
