Your reaction was exactly as mine when I got to that episode. I'll be looking forward to next weekend like it were christmass.

Thank you so much for watching the extra episode 131 too. Episode 131 is probably the most famous episode of Hunter x Hunter, and my personal 2nd favorite episode. Your character assessment of Gon was totally on point. A 12-13 year old kid having never lost anyone important in his life is having to face the reality of his father like figure dying, especially when he was in so much denial earlier. There was no one around him in his greatest moment of despair and anger. And in that emotional state he put a condition on his Nen (just like Kurapika), allowing him to temporarily mature his aura and physical body in return for sacrificing his future. And the way Killua puts it...the Gon we saw should have been the result of years of training an he has sacrificed it all. You made me cry on this episode again 😭 Many reactors see this as a sign of victory and triumph as Gon is able to take down Pitou...but that was not the point... that wasn't even a fight. The focus was on Gon's despair and his sacrifice. Hence, even the music that plays when Gon transforms has a very ominous and scary tone....not something that is usually played in the moment of victory. I'm glad you felt the full brunt of emotions in this episode. What you have witnessed is one of the most memorable moments in all of anime! Also we all acknowledge your love for Pouf 🤣

Was looking forward to 131 for a long time, that usually gets a strong reaction to reactors. Killua has always been there to save Gon from himself but he couldn't save Gon this time.

I read that Netero's last words has two translations. In the anime he tells Meruem, "do not underestimate humanity's infinite potential for evolution." Some say a more accurate translation of what was written in the manga is "you know nothing about humanity's capability for malice" or "you nothing about the bottomless malice within human hearts." Idk which transition is more accurate but both translations foreshadow Gon's transformation. I prefer the second bc it's more ominous and speaks to an uncomfortable truth about humanity. Plus Gon validates this truth during this episode

I feel worse for Pitou than Gon this episode lol
