This was cut out from the anime, but Gyro did actually reincarnate as a chimera ant the same way they did. He passed by Killua and Gon when they were training with Bisky after Kite died. It's an important scene from the manga that they might bring back when we get back to adapting it years later lol.

I mean animals are conscious beings who feel emotions. They are not as expressive as us humans but they are similar in many regards. Do you think that eating a cooked chicken is easier than killing the chicken yourself and then eating it? I personally think yes, at least it was for me. As a kid I had all sorts of animal meat without giving much thought to the animal, but my opinion has considerably changed after being closer to animals through pets/documentaries/and such anime. And I know this can be a very sensitive topic as everyone has a different way of life. Hence I totally respect and understand if someone else does not accept my way of thinking. More importantly, one intended consequence of this arc was to make us conscious of this relationship between the humans and animals (specifically ants). And it seems that Togashi succeeded in doing that for you too! 😅 I'm guessing you have already watched tomorrow's episode? 😢
