Besides, Frieren is good stuff and a bit different than what they usually do. I want them to find new things that they like and let them widen their love of anime.

Setting aside the fact that the big 3 back in the day would have episodes of talk and recycled frames of action, the talk sets us up for things to happen later. We gotta advance the plot, ya know. All that talk about the nature of demons and how they view the concept of mana made the feel so much better when Frieren unleashed the full weight of her power and then told Aura to kill herself. Even still, the show is taking a page from Himmel's book. Enjoy and indulge in all parts of the adventure. And if none of that matters, them pacing out the action makes the action scenes pop so much more. They can put "more budget" into the fighting (even though that dance scene was animated really well)
