So excited to watch this at work tomorrow! Also can't wait for you to reach 3x09 cause that's definitely one of my all time favorites! <3

When Tink and Regina follow the magic, you said why is her happiness reliant on a man? Not in those words I know, it's because in the OUAT world True Love is the greatest and most powerful thing in the world, and I think Tink specially wanted the dust to lead her to Regina's true love, believing it would help her heal from the past. It's a great message in a way, but it fails to take into account that true love would be hard to find without loving yourself first and I think that might be harder to find than love with another person.

All I can say now is that I can’t wait for you to watch and react to episode 6 and then to episodes 8 and 9!!!🤩😁😊

Watching this with you reminded me of why I had issues with this season in particular and you commented on it. Which was the show saying what would bring Regina happiness was a man, and not just because there's way more to live for and way more types of love that you can seek that can make you happy, but also the fact that they are implying that love isn't a choice but destiny. That one person is your true love, that one person is your happiness. I have always had issues with how romanticized destiny is and it came back in full force with the Regina and Robin Wood storyline. And even if true love has always been a theme of the show, it always felt like with other characters there was a falling in love period and a choice which made it ok for me. Other than that, I did love how they presented Regina's struggle in this episode and how they showed how depressed she was and how that can make you self sabotage (especially with the implication that Regina was completely numb to life that she didn't even care if she died). So well done.

It's such the fairytale thing to make it seem like the only possible "happily ever after" is falling in love, getting married and presumably having a family. I liked how some movies have strayed from that over the years. Showing other possible endings where characters were still happy but not necessarily in a relationship. Like when people were screaming for Elsa to be given a girlfriend in a future Frozen movie. I'm not bothered by that representation at all but I kind of liked that she didn't seem interested in relationships and was happy on her own. Which is also something that doesn't get represented much. Especially in those types of movies.

I'm in that situation now as I still have this one and last week's to watch lol.

I feel like the abuse and programming that Regina first experienced with her mother and then was continued and worsened by Rumple would make it impossible for her to just accept there is love for her .Because Rumple needed to have Regina evil to cast the dark curse he really set her up with " hold onto that simmering rage , you have nothing else ! " He also convinced her that she could never escape her destiny of being consumed by the darkness. She would need profound healing and repatterining to choose love and hope far beyond just changing her conscious mind . This show is brilliant at illustrating how we become who we are and how hard it is to change that initial conditioning especially when it came with abuse .

I love this episode so much, and this season in general, it has such great messages about second chances. And I'm a huge fan of the actress who plays Tinker Bell (Rose McIver). She was also in Power Rangers RPM and iZombie.

Thank you so much for commenting this because reading it made me realize that I'm afraid of lasting joy. Because I've had my joy taken away from me enough times that I came to believe having joy is inevitably followed by losing joy. I think I need to start regularly reminding myself that losing joy is also something I have survived many times and yeah it doesn't feel great, but having the joy in the first place felt awesome! 💕 I don't think I need to be afraid of joy anymore, because it's not worth missing out on the amazing things in order to play it safe ❤️ Thanks for helping me get to that insight! 🙏🏻 And thanks to Audrey for the comments that sparked us to think about these things! ☺️
