A lot of the Jay Z songs you were most unfamiliar with were from his latest album at the time, "Magna Carta Holy Grail," which was released in 2013. That had Tom Ford, fuckwithmeyouknowigotit, On the Run and Holy Grail (the phrase the audience shouted that you weren't familiar with. Beyonce sang the chorus on tour, but it is originally featuring Justin Timberlake.) Hov or Hova is Jay-Z's (self-proclaimed?) nickname. Hova as in Jehovah, the holiest name for God (in Hebrew). the whole "izzo" stuff is a language code, (not sure if you ever heard of pig latin, but similar to that) where izzo/izzle was added to words. E-40 created it but people mostly attribute it to Snoop Dogg since he popularized it.
