The biggest problem with Lorelai is that Rory is now exactly the same age she was when she got pregnant. And now Rory is starting to not only be interested in boys, but also to kiss them. There's a lot more going on in the background than you might think at first glance. And I'm very sorry, but "my mother is my best friend" works wonderfully in the series but in real life it simply wouldn't be healthy for the child.

I personally feel that a majority of the things that happen between partners in a relationship should stay between the partners in that said relationship. Yes, there are exceptions, but for the most part it's not anyone else's business. Not even my best friend and/or mother. When in a relationship, it's not just your own privacy one has to think of, it's the person's privacy whom you are in the relationship with. I am very thankful and fortunate that my mom is awesome and that her and I are very close. I definitely consider her my best friend. With that being said, though, her and I do still have boundaries with one another. Not everyone's boundaries will be the same, however, everyone needs and deserves to have boundaries that don't get crossed regardless of how close you are to someone and how much you love them. A parent can absolutely be their child's friend, but a parent needs to always be a parent first, and more often times than not, I feel as though Lorelai forgets that fact.

I think we put too much on high school and college (coming from someone who has 4 degrees). Somethings should be taught at home, in after school programs, community programs, etc. Often, even if it’s taught in school, if people don’t want to learn they won’t. I’m sorry but schools have not improved, it has gotten worse and has lead to a huge literacy problem all over. My HS years were 04-08 and they would never let a person get to senior year and no one knows they can’t read. I don’t think you said anything wrong in the first video, the point is people need the information to know what to do with their life. A lot of people waste time and money, ruin their credit, go into crippling debt for college. & they never wanted it in the first place. I wouldn’t trade my 1st undergrad experience for anything in the world, but it was mainly life experience. I eventually reached my goals but the road could have been easier. I was like Rory in way that I was hyper focused on my schoolwork and getting to college. I was very much a self starter, self motivator and if I wanted it I went for it. I can remember as far back as 2nd grade my teacher would call me her ‘little doctor’ because I said that’s what I was gonna be when I grow up. Also I completely get Rory’s exam crash out. I had a similar experience. Haha. In my high school I was in the Gifted/Talented STEM program and we had to take so many AP classes but didn’t have to take the tests for college credit. Senior year I took AP Chem, Calc & Bio and the ONLY test I wanted to take was Calculus and the day of the test I overslept because my mom had to work and overnight and my lil brother never slept at the time. (He was a baby menace haha). I was 5 mins late and they wouldn’t let me take it since the test had already started. I was a sweet child back then I just went to my car and cried.

I think it’s great that Rory and her mom are like best friends and she can tell her everything. But at the same time Rory respect her mom. I think it can work in real life. And I want this for my future child, because I don’t have this with my parent and I am scared to tell him some things… I want to have a better relationship with my child, just tell him he can trust me and tell me everything. And I am here for him

On the education conversation pre-watch. In my school while I was in the UK (2006-2010) we were REQUIRED to take a course called Religious Education every single year where they specifically tought us about the different religions around the world and their origins, core beliefs, etc. I found it baffling when I moved to the US in 9th grade and talking about religion was hush-hush. Many schools in the UK have religious affiliations and literally took us to church...but still taught us about other religions. I don't understand how it's so taboo in the US.

I know in a couple of episodes you have mentioned the “la la’s” in the show being a little weird or random. If you pay attention they actually set the mood of the episode/scene. If the scene is heavy or sad the la la’s are slow or in a lower pitch. If the scene is up beat and happy they are high pitched and a little faster.

I love being able to watch other people watching shows I love for the first time; it allows me to sort of experience it for the first time again myself, through someone else's lens. That said, I did just rewatch several favorite episodes of GG from later seasons and at least once in every episode I had the distinct thought of "Oh, can't wait to see what she has to say about that...".

In summary...they do not go away. 😆 learn to love or live and let die lol

It really depends on the area in the US and the school. There are many private catholic and private christian schools and other religious sectors as well. In public schools its generally not spoken about unless taking a course on religion specifically... or you live in a state like Utah, for example, and there is a sunday school next to the school where you can take classes during the school day lol

Sorry this might be a little long. However, I do want to say that I actually have this relationship with my mother and have always had it and it really didn’t make it difficult for us in any way to have the mother daughter relationship, but then also be best friends. My mom has always been like my number one in any situation. I mean she was even the one I went to when I was in college and I had one hard cider and and called her, even though I was under age to check to make sure the way that I was feeling was normal because I could feel like my heart heartbeat in my head and I felt extremely nauseous and I didn’t expect to feel that after one hard cider ( to which she laughed and said take an Advil drink some water and you’ll be fine. 😂😂) She was also the person I went to when I wanted to try vaping with zero nicotine, just because I thought that would be fun. And I even mentioned possibly wanting to try pot and she actually brought home a roach for me to try. And I actually feel like having that relationship with my mom in my case. My cousin who now has daughters has even asked both me and my mom how our relationship had got to be that strong, and how we’re so open with each other that we trust each other in any situation and we know that we wouldn’t lie to each other. And I always knew no matter the situation I could go to my mom.

Mother /daughter relationships are so complex in many ways, with the mother (usually) wanting to offer advice, know where daughter is all the time and generally keep them safe, and the daughter wanting independence (again usually) and sometimes seeing advice as criticism and seeing things as not fair. I always thought having a mum as a best friend would be great but actually I think it would be too confusing for me as it would be like who am I talking to at this moment my mum or best friend 🥴 my mum and I are definitely Lorelei and Emily 🤣

I’m sad that I’m all caught up cause that means I don’t have more to watch but I’m happy that I have Friends and GG to look forward to every week now. ❤️

Currently watching Gilmore Girls for the first time with you, and re-watching Friends. This is for sure the coziest i have ever felt online.

Shaliek

So Gilmore Girls was made before there were more rules about showing brands in tv shows. They are not paid product placements.

I had this same problem with my daughter...her friends told her i would flip my lid if i found out she was dating....so she didn't tell me until they had been dating a week...then one day she just came up to me and asked "what do you think about dating?"...i told her it was fine...she was growing up, it was bound to happen eventually and as long as she was comfortable and happy then it wasn't a big deal...now she tells me about all of her crushes and relationships...makes me feel good as a mom to be the safe place for my kid to keep me in the loop
