Surgery went smooth. Anesthesiologist was amazing! No vomiting!

However my doctor decided I couldn’t have food or water for an additional 24 hour but didn’t say WHY. The nurses keep saying I have to wait until I finally see him this morning. So far, with pre-surgery fasting, I’m at 36 hours!

It’s a long rant that I don’t quite have the energy for right now (no wonder why!) but let’s just say I’ve been sneaking water from the mini fridge and Im pretty fucking HANGRY right now.

Danny is on his way back to the hospital now to start pushing for them to release me since I can’t talk and I’m a WOMAN 🤦‍♀️ ( yea that’s a whole other rant right there)

But the good news is that I’m fine and recovering well.

I'm so glad that the surgery went well. It's crazy that they won't release you without Danny, I can't believe that. The healthcare systems in other countries never fail to baffle me as a Brit, we're so lucky over here. But yeah I'm glad you're ok and hopefully you can eat something soon. 😊💕

Glad you are doing well! I've been in the hospital with stomach and throat issues and haven't been able to eat for a week. It is crazy how hangry you can get! Hoping for a speedy recovery and you get to go home soon.

Glad the surgery went well. Ridiculous how they can tell you to not do something (eat for an additional day) and not tell you why, something very wrong about that!

i'm glad your fine. try not to stress out over this situation

Glad to hear that the surgery went well. I would be up following the nurses around until they gave me what I want. It’s ridiculous how a doctor can just say you’re doing this and not answer questions. Also, the woman thing! 🤬

As a nurse I have to say be careful sneaking water against the doctors orders. You could be at increased risk for aspiration. There is usually a reason why they keep you npo. But they definitely should explain that to you!

Good news that it went well and you're now recovering. It just takes time, which the next few days will seem like forever but then Christmas will be here before you know it.

I've been there. I had a major surgery once and they didn't let me drink or eat for 24 hrs more. They weren't clear about why I shouldn't drink anything , something to do with the anesthesia, not sure, but I was so thirsty it was torture. I didn't even want to drink it but to moisten my super dehydrated mouth.

UPDATE: Just spoke with the doctor FINALLY! He said he really really wants me to stay another day because he wants to give me the antibiotics as an ongoing slow drip throughout the day drip and not in pill form. He said it will better prevent an infection. He said I can start eating ice cream and cold milk!!! Hooray!! He also said I can take more Xanax if I feel I need it for sleep and he will change my meds to something that will stop keeping me awake. Soo I’m going to stay one more night. I really didn’t want to, but the antibiotics make sense. I want to do everything I can to prevent hurting my voice.

Yes listening to the doctor and staying one more night is good. :) glad you can eat something even if it’s just ice cream and cold milk. Hope you have a speedy and healthy recovery!!!!
