Live “chat” video (Patreon)

I want to do the live chat with you guys watching a movie but I want the RECORDING to show the live chat as it happens. I have zoom premium but the recoridng doesn’t show the live chat in time. It only allows me a file to download afterwards separate from the video.

I can stream chat from zoom BUT I can’t record the chat log for the RECORDING. People who watch it later won’t be able to see the live chat. Since I won’t be talking, it will be boring without the live chat showing.

Anyone know what I could do?

Btw I can’t use YT because it will block even the unlisted videos.

Have you tried Skype? My aunt uses that often to watch Disney movies with my cousin who's in Australia.

If you choose to do Starkid, I have seen a lot of other youtubers do watch parties of their musicals without being blocked, so you might have more luck.

Twitch might work (streaming platform most of us gamers use but used for other streaming too besides video games).

As Linn said, Twitch might be the way to go. As far as I understand (which is not much, since I'm not a streamer, just a watcher lol) it has a lot of privacy settings and stuff, it's easy to use, and you can download the stream on your computer to use it later if you want to. And it will show the chat if you choose to.

About YouTube. It's it possible to use a mirror behind you that does the picture even without sound. Would YouTube detect the reflection of the movie?

It'd likely require some editing before the recording is posted but I wonder if using OBS or something else that'll record certain windows then quick editing to add the chat to the recording would work. Or even just using that recording. I'm not sure. I know a lot of twitch people will use OBS or other things like it to record their streams and post them to YouTube and it'll show their twitch chat

Have you tried Webex? I can send you a meeting link if you want to test it out. I’m pretty sure it has the functionality you are looking for.

For people suggesting using twitch or IG live she could and likely would still run into issues because of copyright on those platforms. Added in that she's not asking for what other platforms she could use (which both IG and Twitch would kinda negate it being a Patreon exclusive watch party) but suggestions on how to make it so she can include the chat in the recording those responses aren't really answering what she asked

To echo the twitch suggestions - twitch will block any videos that it detects copyright, but I know Starkid musicals are not detected by twitch/copyright is not enforced (other reaction ideas would likely be blocked though). For twitch, I think you can set something in OBS that puts the chat on screen so it stays with the video
