I love that you give me something to watch after work lol

I always think the same lol. I like this timing better than when they used to go up at my bed time 😂

My homework assignment winner: Hannah or Lindsay My #1 overall: Alex or Lindsay My top 2: Lindsay and Alex My bottom 3: Samuel, Damian and Hannah Who I would have cut: Samuel Who I would have cut from their bottom 3: Hannah I would have cut Hannah because her last chance performance was the weakest but I think OVERALL Samuel was the weakest (as much as I love him). And even though I love it I think Hannah didn't get the best song. Interestingly this is the second episode where the homework winner is eliminated, the first being Marissa in episode 6. Also, Hannah said that Damian admitted to liking her too but it was cut. Regarding the gay comments, from the way Samuel was talking it didn't seem like he necessarily believed it, it was more his mum/his parents. As someone who was also raised Christian I definitely relate to that. I'm still Christian but my views on certain things have changed as I've gotten older and able to think for myself, like homosexuality and LGBTQ+ in general. I also feel like Samuel's character on Glee was pretty progressive for the time and not the typical "Christian hypocrite" we unfortunately see too many times. I love Quinn but she was literally the president of the abstinence club while cheating on her boyfriend with his best friend and getting pregnant. Mercedes was pretty conservative when it came to sex but she seemed okay with gays, especially as Kurt was one of her best friends.

I cried when Hannah was cut the first time and cried again just now. She seems happy in her life now and she still hangs out with Damian which is adorable. But gosh I just loved her. So relatable and pure.

First off, i’m going through a really rough time rn and for whatever reason you and danny specifically are really helping me distract myself and just wanna say thanks to you guys <3 Lindseys part of you are the only exception is such an earworm to me and has been since i first saw this episode hahah. It’s immediately my go-to when i’m singing this song and i didnt realize how impactful it had been for whatever reason until rewatching here hahah. I LOVE hannah, but honestly they did her dirty with a taylor swift song. Idk what it is about it but i find theyre so hard to sing in the right pitch/tone. Samuel had a great performance though, despite his earlier struggles in the mv- and damien just has such a great face for the camera, even if his eyebrow goes crazy hahah. Looking forward to the next ep <3

Jennifer Lawrence

I wasn't prepared to cry at the end of this one, lol. But, I feel like so many of us see some of ourselves in Hannah and relate to her. I know she didn't have the strongest voice or acting skills. But there was something about her that just lit up a room whenever she was there. I usually refer to it as a "shiny aura" lol.

I just cried at this elimination even though I knew it was going to happen lol. I just loved Hannah so so much. I also related to being the fat kid with no confidence. I get that we've already somewhat touched on that storyline with Mercedes and Lauren, but even more so I'm still not understanding Ryan's need for this conservative Christian when we have Quinn and Mercedes. The fact that Christianity is what got Ryan to see something in Samuel is just... ergh, it doesn't sit right with me. Then again, I'm just very weary towards Christianity because of religiously charged LGBTQ+ hate, so I'm sure there would be some value to a new type of Christian in the cast - especially a male Christian. I remember this episode is where I started to self teach myself how to sing with vibrato by imitating Lindsay singing "Maybe This Time." So good! I remember Lindsay saying either in an interview or my Zoom 1:1 with her that after Hannah was eliminated the boys let her bunk with them so she wouldn't be alone in the girls' dorm. So glad Alex and Damian got a little break from the bottom 3. Damian's eyebrows though. xD I have a similar issue but it's that I ALWAYS have one eyebrow raised when I sing and it's so hard to break that habit. -_-

I think the last four all somehow won, because the were all seen on the Show in the end :)

Audrey Lee Strohm

I would have cut Samuel as well. Damien is still there I think because he is different in a cute sort of way, with his crooner voice being something they lack on the show. My top 3 were Hannah, Damian and Lindsey, as much as Lindsey annoys the heck out of me with her fakeness, she KILLED that song.

Ryan also compared Lindsay to Rachel but not quite Lea Michele. I feel like that was a turn-off from keeping her until she allowed her vulnerability to show through a bit. It's like that opened the possibility up to where he could have that same comparison but want to write the part he ended up giving her. She was the driven perfectionist that Rachel saw she was just like when they went to the NYADA auditions. He heard the Christian thing from Samuel and all but pulled a pen out of his pocket and wrote that part for him. You don't root for him but he checks off a box. Which... sadly Glee tended to do a lot. e.g. ✔️ Texting and Driving. Main character gets into major car wreck and is temporarily paralyzed. After a few weeks of physical therapy she's suddenly able to walk again. A few episodes later she's able to vigorously dance and even lift another character up at Nationals. ✔️School Shooting. Happens but then is never brought up again. No ongoing trauma for any students involved. I guess he wanted a character to specifically bring up the conflict some Christians have against homosexuality because Mercedes, Sam and Quinn were already accepting so they couldn't raise the "issue" as a discussion point.

My #1 Overall: Hannah My Top 3: Hannah, Alex My Bottom 3: Damian, Samuel, Lindsay Who I’d Cut: Samuel Who I’d Cut (their bottom 3): Samuel Hannah is just a ball of sunshine, and she would have been wonderful addition. But in the end they really did her a favor because the writers did the bigger women on the show (I'm looking at Marley's mom and Lauren) dirty. They could have just had a character where body size wasn't even brought up. Mercedes' character was more powerful because her size was never really harped on or mentioned like Marley's mom and Lauren were. I feel Samuel is too one-note/smoulder, and I never bought him as the Christian character. I would have cut him, but Hannah's last chance performance wasn't strong. It was definitely the song choice. Set up to fail? As for Lindsay, maybe it's how they edited it, but I never bought her breakdown in the recording studio. It's like she saw how Alex received support after his (totally believable) breakdown and copied it. And telling them they were awesome as she left was just butt kissing. I bought Alex's longing in the video shoot. The longing glances and him reaching to touch Damian's hand was very subtle. Maybe too subtle for Glee. LOL

Benjamin Smith

I would’ve cut Samuel as well. I definitely feel like Ryan is gunning for this Christian character and he definitely wanted Cameron but with him leaving, he’s now putting it all in on Samuel. We know Samuel ended up on the show as this character and I still wish we could’ve had Cameron as this character. I feel he would’ve been much more relatable.

fry

justice for hannah! thinking about it now her and damian could have been a cute little ship on the show instead of making his character have a crush on brittany and then putting him in that triangle with artie and sugar

Jay Johnston

God I forgot about Alex's break down in the studio. It always breaks my heart cause I lost my dad at 14 so I can somewhat relate to him despite being older when it happened. I would have cut Samuel as well as I full on relate to Hannah more. His character in the show only had one memorable moment for me and that was his duet with Dianna (Quinn)

fry

lol i will give samuel one thing i’m obsessed with the glee version of saving all my love for you

Jay Johnston

Though even with that Dianna carried that scene on her shoulders

My overall favorite is Hannah as well. She is just to infectious. I wonder what she’s doing now? My #1 this episode is Alex. He really stepped up more than ever before. My bottom 2 (not 3 this week) would be Lindsey and Samual. They had some trouble portraying the emotion. Lindsey is the most well-rounded talent of the bunch, but her character is very much a Rachel. So if she was sent home, I won’t be upset. From their bottom 3 and mine, I would’ve cut Samual. He was trying way to hard and his feelings didn’t come off as genuine. It’s all very surface with him, no depth. The cast says that he is insanely talented but I just don’t see it (yet). We’re at the point where cutting people gets tricky. Because I’ve known about the show for years, seen clips, and heard spoilers, I knew that Hannah would be eliminated, but it was still shocking. If she had a better voice, I’m sure she would’ve stayed. Out of everybody, she was the most eager to learn, to ask questions, and to write for. Maybe not be the most talented, but talent can easily be improved. Relatability not so much. But I’m glad she finally won a HW assignment at least before she left. Side-note; I think Damians still here because he’s easy to write for with his shyness and being from Ireland. It’s something different. At this point, it’s at least just as important as talent. Also he won over Ryan with the whole Jessie’s Girl thing. From now on, I know when someone gets eliminated, who wins, etc. so I’m excited to see your reaction that all that.

Can't wait for you to watch season 2

On the bright side, I think Samuel had great chemistry with Dianna. Too bad it didn't go anywhere.

Alicia

I liked his version of Stereo Hearts

Jay Johnston

I mean I agree it's good but I remember it more for Sam's parts and Mercedes' ad libs. Also for the scene right after it.
