House of Alphas Chapter 33: The First Episode (Patreon)

“What?” Your eyebrows furrowed deeply. How could that be? Mahito wasn’t supposed to attack until the next day, he was a day early… why?

Nanami inhaled deeply before explaining further, “A messenger had alerted us of the attack…it appears to be curse spirits.”

No this was happening too quickly-

“How the hell did cursed spirits just appear out of nowhere?”

He was a day early-

“Perhaps a witch released them?”

You were too late-

“We have other issues to worry about…” Nanami hinted at the mark on your hand. He didn’t even want Mei Mei to know about it.

“Toji and I could go and you guys can go around.”

“That would make our trip longer, we would need to go around the mountains.”

“Or we can go first and she could stay here until we clear it out.”

“I don’t mind and I’m sure Dove would love to have Raven here.” Mei Mei smiled at you, but you weren’t smiling. None of those options was what you wanted. However, your alphas seemed to like that idea.

“Perhaps-“

“Absolutely not.” You cut in sharply.

There were shared glances that indicated that they all wanted to protect you but you didn’t want to split up. Ever. You felt they were more safe with you, and you were most safe with them.

Toji spoke softly, “Going there could be dangerous princess…and we still don’t know what we are dealing with.”

“So? That’s more of a reason for us to stay together. I’m fine. We can go there, help the people, and then continue north. I mean, there isn’t much else to it, and I don’t think sitting here is helping anyone, so can we please go? Like now? The longer we wait the worse it’s going to get.”

Nanami nodded toward you, “Okay sweetheart, let’s get ready.”

“Right.” You were out the door practically running for your room, your alphas trickled much slower behind you.

Sukuna snorted, “I told you she’d want to go.”

Gojo rolled his eyes, “The first time you actually predicted something right.”

Nanami watched everyone else go as he stayed behind.

Mei Mei released a chuckle, “Suprised to see she still has her stubbornness, have you all grown soft?”

The blonde showed slight disapproval, “We rather like her this way.”

“Whatever the alphas desire.”

Nanami attempted to not be annoyed by the money-hungry beta, “Mei Mei…About… what we spoke about earlier.”

“Yes yes, I’ll do some digging, but like I told you... That girl came to me out of thin air. I have not the slightest idea where her home resides. She didn’t even have a name until I bestowed her with one.”

“I understand, whatever bit of information you can give me would be helpful, and please keep this discreet.”

“My lips are silenced…” Mei Mei waved a hand over her mouth like a spell and then opened the palm of her hand with a devious smile.

The blonde sighed as he dropped a bag of crystals in her awaiting palm.

You moved with haste, with your battle gear on. You carried the worm as well, as much as the thing disgusted you, you tried to look at it as a really ugly purse. Luckily it could shrink in a ball so you didn’t have to constantly see it. It didn’t bother you as much. Not now anyway. The war had just begun and now was not the time for games. Even though you were technically in a game.

Nevertheless!

This was the start of chapter one, Curse Spirits. In the game, the attack occurred when you were in Tokyoto. Though this was a day early you hoped to get there in time to save as many people as you could. The guards will not be able to hold the curse spirits much longer and when you arrive they are all dead along with some people- you wish to change that fate. Even if you could at least save one from their doom… that would make a world of a difference. You had to do the best you could and that’s all you could do.

Your alphas and betas were waiting for you at the gate, horses trotting in anticipation. You remembered a night quite like this when you had made your grand escape.

“Ready?” your blonde questioned, standing by your horse.

“Yes… but I’d like to say bye to-“

“Raven!”

Looking back Dove came running at you like a beautiful angel in the night.

“I had already sent for her.” Toji spoke proudly.

You could damn near hear the eye rolls from two jealous alphas.

“Dove-“ you moved toward her as the two of you collided. “-oof!”

She threw her momentum into you, holding you in a tight bear hug, “I heard-i heard where you are headed- I- what if you get hurt!”

You patted her back with a light chuckle, “You think my silly alphas are going to let anything touch me?”

You tried to joke with her but as she pulled back to giggle you could still see the concern fix her face. “Raven…” she paused glancing behind you before setting her gaze upon your own, “…You should stay. Stay until they clear up the monsters at least.”

You slowly shook your head as soon as you realized what she was about to say, “I’m sorry Dove I can’t…I know my alphas are powerful…but…sometimes even the strong alphas need help, they aren’t indestructible… Even though they all try to act like it...”

“But… but you…” She drifted off not saying what she truly wanted to say.

You are just an omega.

Before you play the game, omegas are seen as weak creatures that need protection and don’t even know how to pick up a stick to fight. Throughout the game as the main character, you change that aspect. Now it was time for you to do the same once again. You were going to show the world…Omegas aren’t weak.

“…aren’t you scared?”

“Yes… I am just an omega, and I am afraid…but the thought of something happening to my home scares me even more…so I must do all I can to protect it…do you understand? I cannot- and will not cower in a castle while my alphas fight. I’d rather be right by their side on the battlefield.”

Dove took in your appearance, holding on to your every word as she understood your resolve. There wasn’t a sign of uncertainty within your voice or body.

“You look… so fierce…” She whispered to you with a light smile. “Like the warrior alpha Yuki.”

“She was a strong alpha…and I hope to be every bit as strong if not more…uh which reminds me...” You shifted digging out little Wormy, you threw him up as it grew full size.

“Oh-it’s it’s-“

“I know it’s hide-“

“-So cuuuute!”

Uh, what-

Dove cooed at the worm as it wiggled for her to pet it… which she did lovingly.

So gross.

“Uh yea… cute…. um but I wanted you to…” You dug inside the worm, pulling out the holy book. “…I want you to have this Dove.”

She looked surprised as she took the object from your hand. “A holy book…?”

“It’s good to be able to protect yourself Dove and maybe… you could use it to save your future alpha.” You smiled softly with a light shrug. Hoping that above anything else, if you couldn’t save Yu, Dove just might be able to. Raven’s attributes are good and all but Dove’s light magic is highly appraised even by the holy priestess Utahime herself. Besides, you can find another holy book along the way. Not as intricate as this one but it’ll be fine.

“You… would give this to me?”

“Yes, so please… take good care of it and learn all you can…I would be sad if something were to happen to you… we need to travel the world together…”

“Heh~” She beamed full of happiness, “I will see to it…and hope to be as brave as you one day.”

You bowed lightly, “Until next time.”

She seemed hesitant to let you go but she mirrored your bow with a,”… Please be safe.”

“I will.”

You walked toward your alphas, giving Toji a light smile and kiss for the chance to say your farewells.

“Alphas-!“ Dove caught your attention again, as she perked up with a deep blush. “May I give your wonderful omega a kiss goodbye!” With that loud shout, she threw herself into a back-breaking bow.

You gasped in embarrassment as some of your alphas chuckled or growled.

“I leave that up to the little miss.” Toji rubbed your back as you flustered not knowing what to take from this.

“Aw~,” Momo thought your omega love was cute!

“Not aw!” Gojo mocked.

“Hell no, let’s go omega.”

“How adorable~.” Getou chuckled.

“I told you she wants what’s ours!”

“She’s an omega?” Inumaki looked slightly confused. It wasn’t uncommon for omegas to be loving to each other.

It was just your yandere boys that had a problem.

“Don’t care.”

Dove looked up with a cute pout that had you folding in a heartbeat, “Toji said he doesn’t mind…do you Kento?” It was just a kiss! She was probably afraid she wouldn’t see you again, and hell what if she doesn’t or you don't see her!

Nanami gestured with his hand, “You may.”

“That’s two against two.” Toji pointed out as everyone looked at Getou.

The mischievous imp hummed looking toward you, a big fat grin on his face. Feeling like the king of this decision. The final score.

“Suguru don’t you dare betray me!”

“Now now Satoru~ you had so much fun without me this morning and you didn’t bother to include me~.”

“You-you get grumpy when I wake you!”

“Not like our omega…” Toji murmured in the midst of the argument.

“Like who?” You questioned, but the big guy patted your head with a handsome smile.

“Nothing princess.”

Getou waved his hand, “Enough~ if I say yes I’m sure I will be rewarded greatly so I say yes~.” With the way his orbs twinkled, you just knew he was going to come back to collect whatever little debt this exchange accumulated.

“Yes~!”

“AGH-“

“No tongue!”

You rolled your eyes but then your gaze landed on the other omega, feeling much more shy now that you knew she wanted to kiss you. You had no idea why she fancied you so much.

Your farewell turned into something much sweeter as the other woman stepped up to you and gave you the softest kiss that you had ever been graced with. Your alphas were rougher, but everything about Dove was soft and feminine. It was such a huge contrast. She smelt of the freshest vanilla with a hint of something sweet.

It felt like the connection of your lips lasted for an eternity but truly it was only but a few seconds.

As she pulled away you felt the cool air touch on your warm cheeks.

“Goodbye Raven.”

“Bye Dove.”

Nanami helped you on your horse this time- even though Toji wanted to but you heard the swift whisper of, ‘It’s my turn’, from the blonde which the bigger man backed off. They were so funny. If that was Gojo and Getou or hell even Sukuna they wouldn’t have cared about being fair.

Just daddy things you suppose.

You waved at Dove one last time as your party took off. Every time you looked back you saw her standing exactly where you left her, with the book held to her chest. Further and further you went and she still waited until you couldn’t see her anymore, and even then, you felt she might have still been standing there. Something within your heart told you she was.

You wondered how she became so engrossed with you. Was this still typical omega affection or was this more? You didn’t have any other relationships with omegas so you couldn’t compare. Or was it just the fact that it was much more heartbreaking to say farewell? It wasn’t like your world where there were phones and the internet or even airplanes and cars. Traveling and seeing people in this world was much more difficult and felt more impactful. The last time you saw Dove before today was about a month ago.

What if you go another month without seeing her? Or more than that? What if something happens to you or her? What if this was the last time you saw her?

Especially now…

People’s lives will be in danger.

Before it was easy…you could play it off like you were in a tutorial. No one gets hurt in the tutorial phase… but today marks the first step of the game. It only gets worse from here, and you couldn’t be everywhere all at once. Who will you lose? Who will you save? It all felt so daunting.

“Hey!”

You jerked your head up, looking to your left as Gojo rode beside you. You stared at him awaiting what he had to say.

He licked his lips seemingly questioning if he wanted to say what he was about to say. He then yells over the horse’s powerful footfalls, “Maybe…you can visit on our way back huh!?”

“Really!?” You grin, “You aren’t afraid she’s going to take me away!?”

Gojo gave you a playful glare, “Nah I’ll just have to put you to sleep again!”

Oh good Tengen, they really outdid themselves this morning. You couldn’t believe you slept so long and you don’t think you want to experience that again.

“Orrr~ we can visit her if Yu gets her!”

“Is this your way of apologizing for taking my day away from Dove?!”

“Sure but don’t think I wouldn’t do it again!”

“Haha~ you’re soooo funny!”

The little bit of laughter ended the conversation. You sniffed at yourself, noticing the sourness that oozed from you. Gojo either smelt you or noticed how tensed you were…maybe both. It was sweet of him to try to distract you, especially to offer to visit his greatest rival.

You had some good alphas.

They were cazy-insane- bonkers- but good alphas.

With them by your side, you didn’t feel as scared as you thought you would.

Your heart pumped with adrenaline.

You were ready.

Ready to fuck shit up and hope for the best.

“RUN!”

“AAAAH!”

“OVER THERE!”

“LOOK OUT!”

Soldiers and civilians ran as giant lizard-like monsters attacked anything in site. They made haunting noises as they moved.

The guards did their best to hold them back but there were too many of them, their javelines and swords too weak to do any real damage. The simple mobs they fight were nothing compared to these.

*DING DING DING DING!*

“HURRY! INSIDE THE CHURCH ack-!” A soldier was slashed in it’s chest as another one was swept away, quickly swarmed by other spirits.

The gruesome sight of watching their friend get torn apart had the guards screaming in terror as they ran for their lives, fear contorting their faces. They nearly knocked down a man who was behind them.

“WAIT! HELP! MY MOM! PLEASE HELP!” A man with black hair yelled for their assistance but they were driven further away. “N-“ Before he could scream a lizard passed from above him. With a pitiful cry, he ducked and hid while it chased after the others.

Crawling away he got up and past other villagers running in the opposite direction with their crying children.

“THIS WAY! WHERE ARE YOU GOING JUNPEI!”

“I HAVE TO SAVE MY MOM!” Black hair flying in the wind the young man pushed his legs to run quicker, heart drumming in his chest. He ducked and hid as the monsters went for the church. He could hear screams of terror and horrendous noises of gore. He could barely blink, eyes blown wide as he ran for his home.

When his house loomed in front of him he felt as though his life was flashing before his eyes. His once beautiful home that he lived in with the one person that cared for him.

The one thing he ever cared about.

‘This is our home now Junpei!’

‘Make sure to try to make new friends~!’

‘Those bullies can’t hurt you anymore…’

‘I’ll always protect you Junpei…’

He begged for her to be okay. Prayed to Tengen that she was alive. He went for the door, slamming into it but it wouldn’t budge. Something was blocking it. Quickly he went around hoping to find a different entrance. That’s when he spotted the blood on the grass. Droplets leading to the shed.

“Ah-“ He gasped in shock witnessing a lizard creature on top of it, trying desperately to get in. With a shaking hand, he grabbed a pitchfork and readied it. Stepping closer and closer to the evil spirit. As he spoke, tears ran down his cheeks, “M-mom- I’m sorry I’m sorry- this is all my fault I’m sorry i’m sorry everyone-“

*CRASH*

The monster broke the roof open and snatched out his mother.

Junpei was shell-shocked as the spirit held her limp body into the air, bloody rivers running down its greenish-blue arm.

Her eyes could barely open, “J-junpei-r-run-“

“MAAAAAAH!” Gripping the handle tightly he pushed off in a charge, kicking up the dirt, pitchfork at the ready.

The lizard cocked its head lazily as he impaled its stomach.

“Ngh-“ It didn’t even flinch.

“RAAAAAAAH!” It screamed in his face, using its tongue to slap him away while simultaneously breaking the wooden part of the handle.

He flew across the yard and then skidded to a stop. “No-“ He grits his teeth getting up again, the monster opening his jaws as wide as it could to eat its meal. His whole world began to darken, “Don’t- DON’T!” Running at the creature again something swiped his legs from underneath him. He hit the ground with a heavy thud, a cloud of dust puffing around him. That fall hurt- he fell upon his wrist. Looking back to see what got him he couldn’t believe the two monsters that licked its lips hungrily.

The scream-

The spirit had called its friends.

No-no-

He was surrounded- he was going to die and it was all his fault.

“Run-jun-“

“MOM!-“

*SHADOWBOLT*!

A shadow ball of black and purple came shooting across the field hitting the monster in the back. It screeched as it obliterated into dust, dropping his mother to the ground.

Everything happened so fast.

Horses came trotting in as a fire arrow and a blue ball took out the other two monsters in one hit.

Relief flooded within as he realized…It was the house of alphas!

“Inumaki Momo you got them?”

“Yes ma’am!”

Two betas stopped by him as they hopped off their horses to assist his mother.

“Are you hurt?” The man questioned as the woman dug out some herbs.

“Ah…no…” He drifted off, looking towards the other woman who was fiercely riding into battle like a queen with the alphas by her side. Purple and black hair with glowing eyes. That couldn’t be an omega right? Not their prime omega Raven, he heard the alphas had chosen. “Who- who is that?”

The betas seemed proud to answer his question, “Our prime omega duh!”

“Shadowbolt!” You shot another monster, destroying it in one blow. You had no issues with them and neither did your alphas. They moved extremely slow, and they died with one hit.

“THE ALPHAS ARE HERE!” You could see the guards at the front of the church, they cheered at your arrival as the monsters screeched in fear, Sukuna ran at them with a wild expression.

“Come on little shits don’t get scared of me now!” He jumped upon them slashing them with his trident and claws, fire spilling from his lips.

You didn’t really need to heal any of your party, only some soldiers and villagers that you were able to save.

“Ew~ Don’t even let them touch me.” Getou Scoffed as his giant snake spirit chomped and ate whatever it could get its mouth on.

“Man this is like squashing insects, the villagers seriously couldn’t handle this?” Gojo sighed not even lifting a finger, he was allowing his infinity to kill them each time they attacked him. A skill you got him high enough level to master early on. Usually, he takes reduced damage upon the hit but the armor was doing a good job protecting him.

“Don’t speak like that.” Nanami chided the man, “They did not have a military war chief like we did.”

You grinned feeling quite proud of yourself. You trained them this hard. You prepared all of them for this, and you could see a lot more guards this time. It may have been a day late but you were able to make a difference.

“EEEK!” Something croaked loudly behind you.

You smelt the monster before it was upon you, turning your head to it you didn’t even have to move before Toji cut it out of the air, placing his back to you, and covering you with his body.

“You good princess?”

“Yes, Daddy thank you.”

The alpha lightly blushed, “You know what that does to me baby girl not on the battlefield.”

You wanted to laugh as you moved forward, the alpha sticking close to your six. Is this what scary dog privilege does? These monsters couldn’t even sniff you. It was perfect. You fucking did it. Yes- your one-shotting dreams have come true— now you were going to work their asses ten times as hard.

Pfft level 100 here we come.

Sukuna jumped down on the last lizard, only using his sheer body weight to kill it.

You looked around for any stragglers but you saw none. “Well, that’s the last of-“

The church doors bust open as everyone comes running out in a clamorous uproar.

“THANK TENGEN!”

“OUR ALPHAS ARE HERE TO SAVE US!”

“ALPHAS THANK YOU THANK YOU!”

“WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED!”

“Now now-“ Nanami called to everyone getting them to settle down, “our prime omega is truly the one you should be thanking.”

“Omega?” someone questioned.

“I saw her! She was fighting too!”

“A strong prime omega!”

Your chest swelled as they began to praise you. It was so much commotion you weren’t ready for all of this. You went from people hating you to people truly loving you. With just this choice you had made a difference.

“Prime omega…!”

Someone called to you.

The crowd moved for you as you looked upon a young woman. She was kneeling by a fallen guard, tears in her eyes. “Please… please help my alpha… please…”

You stepped toward her but the stench made you stop. Your eyes stung as you felt your heart drop. “I…” You couldn’t even stop the tears from falling. “I’m so sorry…” Your voice cracked as the woman dropped her head upon the man’s chest. Her wails filled your ears as you shed silent ones for her and the death of her alpha

It was too late.

Once a person dies… there’s nothing your healing can do.

It hurt.

As much as this was a victory to you, it also pained you to see those you couldn’t save. You helped the villagers as much as you could. With healing the wounded. Your alphas were also very helpful. Getou helped with his spirits, Gojo helped with the kids being the jester he was… who knew he was good with pups? Toji helped with moving things and helping those trapped, Nanami assisted on repairs and money, your betas helped with the kitchen and Sukuna helped bury the dead. It was a huge town project.

Wait.

You stopped midwalk as you looked toward the graveyard. Sukuna is helping bury the dead-.

“Ex-excuse me…”

You hummed looking toward the young man that was talking with you. You needed to get to Sukuna before he eats these people, he wouldn’t…do that right? “Hi, how can I help you?”

“Hello, prime omega…” He bowed softly, “My name is Junpei…um you… you saved me… and my mom… I wanted to say… thank you.”

“Yeah, of course.” You gave him a soft smile. “I’m happy you are safe…” You stopped speaking when you noticed his scent, it gave you a haunting shiver. You must have made a face because he seemed to look worried.

“Wh-what’s wrong?”

“I…” You sniffed at him, you’ve smelt this before. It didn’t smell bad- no- it just smelt like someone you knew- but who?

“Um… do I smell weird…?” He questioned sniffing himself.

“Uh sorry…” You couldn’t put your damn finger on it. The scent was too soft for you to get it. Quickly you tried to save yourself from embarrassment, “You are an unclaimed omega?”

Junpei ducked his head shyly, “Yes…I just haven’t found… the right mate…”

You had caught sight of Sukuna walking away from everyone, deeper into the trees. Where the hell is he going?

“Um… excuse me for a moment.”

“Oh yes, you must be very busy I’m sorry.”

You bowed your head to him as you swiftly ran after Sukuna. It was hard to catch his scent, the bastard must have been masking it. You sniffed around looking for him, hunting him in a way.

That’s when you felt the hairs on your neck stand up. Turning around you weren’t quick enough to react before someone was on top of you, pinning you to the ground. Your first instinct was to wiggle and fight but that was when you realized who it was.

“Sukuna?”

He grinned, “Looking for me omega?”

“Yes…I was… um…can you let me up?” He still had you pinned down.

“Tell me why you followed me.”

Alright, time to get out with it… “I was… just…” well you didn’t want to accuse of something he didn’t do. “… seeing if you were hungry…?” That’s the best you got?!

“Seeing if I was hungry? For the shit your betas made?”

How could a cannibal be so picky?

“What did you have in mind?”

Sukuna lowered his gaze upon you, “Why do you want to know?”

“I can’t be concerned for my alpha.”

“Cut the bullshit, what do you want. Why are you really out here omega? You and I both know what I eat.”

“…Could you… not eat these people?”

“They’re dead.”

“Ah- I know… but…please don’t eat them…not these ones…they were good people…”

“I don’t care if they are good or bad if I don’t eat it something else will what difference does it make.”

You hate how he has a solid point. Unfortunately, this is just who he is. “Okay… okay…” you felt like you always had to walk on eggshells with him. Being mindful of what you say, “…it does make me a bit sad… and I wish you didn’t do it… to them…I’d rather it be no one really but if you had to eat someone at least make it… terrible people… but I understand it’s what you eat.”

“You don’t need to worry about it.” Sukuna moved, picking you up. “Now scurry along while I enjoy my reward for saving this village.”

You sighed as the alpha unpacked what looked like a heart. He then proceeded to bite into it like an apple making you quickly walk away in disgust.

You want to argue with him about this but you have no idea how. Unfortunately, it was just one of those toxic traits that you try to ignore.

Small battles… you try to remind yourself.
