House of Alphas Chapter 74: Modus Operandi (Patreon)

“…and now...here we are.”
“…”
You had just finished explaining everything that occurred during your sneak mission and the secrets revealed. After letting your words sink in, you looked around the circle to see if anyone needed further explanation.
Nanami hummed while nodding his head, “That’s very interesting… who would have known such a cruel fate befell the angel Yuki.”
“Yes…” you agreed, “It’s very sad, and that’s why we need to figure out a way to save her…have any of you dealt with people turned into gold statues? The story never held such information.”
Getou clicked his tongue, ”I believe there was a snake queen who was able to do that but that’s a campfire story. I don’t know if she actually exists.”
You blinked with excitement, “No- I’ve learned that what we believe and what seems like a coincidence isn’t at all. You may be on to something. Whoever was the one to freeze Yuki could have used the snake queen. However, by now that person may not even be alive unless they are a thousand years old.”
Toji looked toward Getou, “So when a Shikigami summoner dies what happens to their curses?”
“Either they are released or sealed with the person’s curse energy depending on how strong they are.”
“I’m assuming since we haven’t seen the snake queen, she must be trapped away.” Nanami pointed out.
“How would we be able to find it if it’s trapped somewhere?” Gojo questioned.
“Getou’s hound fox!” You grinned. “That’s how you guys tracked the other spirits in the story.”
Getou frowned. “Yes, my little Fox can find spirits, but it won’t be able to determine which spirit it is smelling. I’m sure we already knew where to go in the story since Kuchisake-onna belongs to me.”
Getou’s explanation slightly dampened your spirits, but Sukuna interjected, saying, “If a cursed spirit transformed the angel into stone, we can undo it without the spirit. We just need to find the correct spell or elixir.”
“Yes, this would require much more research. Someone who would have knowledge that was passed down from generation to generation. Someone who has info as old as dirt…” Nanami trailed off as everyone realized what this meant.
You pointed out, “The witches… if G.Ma doesn't know they must have something within their home. I mean they have pictures and stories of the tarnished era!”
Toji's lips sagged a bit, not liking that idea, “Their home is crawling with those shadow creatures and we barely made it out of there alive... It would be too dangerous.”
You could see the concern on everyone’s faces, you knew after what happened with the priests their protectiveness over you was at an all-time high. You had to reason with them, “I know, but with my light energy it will make them easier to deal with, especially when I learn Divine Light. I promise I will make sure we are ready before we step foot in there."
Gojo popped up, "How do I know if I'm ready- or like yooou know I'm ready?"
"Well, for starters I think everyone should know their special move. Like Hakari used a special move when we first fought him and Sukuna used his during our fight with the Gyron...but I haven't seen you guys use yours yet." You gestured to everyone else as they pondered.
"Ah, a special move?" Toji laughed a bit at the silly term, of course, they wouldn't view it as such but that's what it was in the game!- "What's mine?"
“Yours is called Heavenly Blade, and you do this spinning attack with your sword. It's super cool! But I believe when you guys are ready it will come to you just as it did Sukuna.”
“What are you referring to? Malevont Shrine?” Sukuna questioned.
“Yes, that is one of your strongest attacks in the ga-story.”
“Well then let’s get to it!” Gojo seemed excited, “I want to get my super cool awesome move.”
You let out a little chuckle, “Weren’t you tired?”
“Pshh.” Your alpha rolled his blue eyes, “No way, I want to train, and get stronger.”
Your smile got softer as you realized that everyone seemed to agree with Gojo with their own little comment.
“Yes, if another slug thinks it can slime its way over my shoe again-sassy gasp- I may just lose it.” Getou had his arms crossed, with a little twitch of his eyebrow.
“I wish to be…as you would put it, Tyrant powerful.” Nanami said while pushing up his glasses. The statement was made as a joke but you did not miss the dark undertones.
“You will never crawl on the floor again, unless you are crawling to me within the comfort of our nest.” Toji grinned.
“I would like to spank you for my pleasure.” Sukuna added nonchalantly.
“Wow…” You let out a giggle as your pack released their own little chuckles. You couldn’t stop grinning no matter how hard you tried. It seemed this was yet another fire lit beneath them. They truly wanted to get stronger and better… for you.
Your sweet yandere alphas.
“Alright…” You clap your hands, “…let’s get to it.”
~
Your travels to the secret passage were filled with a lot of fighting.
You were blown away by your alphas training arc part two. There was a lot more passion, energy, and footwork in this one.
The biggest change had to be your silly blue-eyed alpha.
Usually, it was Sukuna who was itching for a fight but Gojo was matching him if not overshadowing him at his own game!
‘Let’s kill that!’
‘Is this strong enough?’
‘What about that!?’
‘Oh, this one! Over here!’
Gojo would go as far as to kill everything before Sukuna could get to it, making the fiend grumble out a- “HEY THAT WAS MY KILL!” or "Get your own prey!"
And your class clown alpha would reply with a- “Sucks to suck mate!” or something else along those lines that had the hot head... well... hot.
Thus starting their little contest to become the strongest and trying to kill things before the other could.
It was harmless as far as you could tell.
All in all, they worked extremely hard, while you focused on your light magic.
The scroll was weird.
When you unrolled it the paper had strange characters that you nor your alphas could read. It looked like ancient writings. For a second you thought Utahime fucked you over but then Nanami had told you to use your light magic. When light energy was pulsing through your eyes then you were able to read the scroll and see the holy lettering.
It still wasn’t anything you could legibly translate.
You read the words, but it sounded like you were speaking in tongues.
As you chanted, the words came off the scroll and the paper disappeared into little white particles. The light scriptures that had come to life, wrapped around your body and sunk into your flesh. Your entire being pulsed with curse energy, drawing it all into your center. You could feel the energy buzzing like a crackling spark inside you. Ready to be unleashed.
With warm and bright eyes, you took a breath and grabbed the pulse of energy- shooting your hands out as if throwing open a door. Holy light exploded all around you, a ring of rays starting off as a bright white light and then growing dimmer as it waved outward- almost like a tidal wave.
With the crashing of your light, your foes were wiped out.
You felt good for learning the move, it was single-handedly one of the best light attacks in the game. Your alphas had also congratulated you, making your goodie two-shoes side, absolutely swoon.
Funnily enough, your light magic did not harm your alphas or the terrain, just the monsters you were fighting.
Like seriously how the hell did Light Magic know who was a friend or foe?!
You still didn't understand the logic but you weren't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. You already had to worry about your shadow abilities, so it was nice to have a break in the friendly fire department.
You noticed very quickly that the Divine Light sucked up quite a bit of your mana and it wasn't something you could just shoot off over and over again like smite or Shadowbolt.
You will make sure to buy mana pots before any big fight with the shadow creatures... which seems like it might be when you visit the witches again...-
"Your efforts are futile! Precision Strike!"
You gawked as you watched Nanami dash forward and fly past the Giant Mushroom creature. The attack caused a black and red flash that happened so quickly that you barely saw it. Within the next second, the Shroom let out its dying cry and burst into exp points.
Your blonde alpha standing upright as he fixed his tie without looking back like the cool daddy he was.
You yipped into the air, "That's it! That was it! Good job Nanami!" You cheered the blonde on making him smile your way.
"Happy I could accomplish this step, but I'm sure there is still room for improvement."
Oh your silly blonde, it was so hard for him to take a compliment. He never felt like he was enough! You were going to make a statement about it but that was before Gojo came flying across your face.
"Woah-" You were shocked at first but then you were even more startled to see he crashed into a tree and hit the ground hard. A bit of blood oozed from his lip. "-Satoru!" You were dashing within a mist of shadows, getting by his side swiftly. As you knelt beside him your healing light was upon his chest.
What fucking monster could have done this!
"That a good enough punch for you?" Sukuna questioned with a mocking tone.
Ah-
"That was bullshit!" Gojo hissed while getting up, glaring at your other alpha.
The tatted man flicked his fingers, "Then come, let me show you again."
"What...Why are you guys fighting each other?"
Toji stepped into the area with his sword upon his shoulders, "They are just training baby it's okay."
"Ooo...my rubies are on Sukuna." Getou also joined the group, riding upon his Kirin spirit.
"Hey!" Gojo called while looking upon Getou with betrayal in his tone.
"Sorry Gojo~ But it's clear Sukuna and Nanami have their moves already. So that must mean they are stronger. It's just simple maths really."
"I got my special move." Toji grinned, "Y'all just missed it."
Your expression lit up, "That's perfect!" Then you switched gears, "I'm sure all of you are close too though so-"
"Close." Sukuna enunciated, "But I did mine a while back so that still means you are behind pup."
Gojo let out a little growl, "Just because I haven't done mine yet doesn't mean you are better than the dirt I walk on!"
OK-
Now it seemed to be getting out of hand, Gojo seemed to be truly irritated.
"Satoru..." Nanami had shifted in his place trying to stand in front of Sukuna who was doing nothing but making the situation WORSE- with his shit-eating grin.
"Let him come at me. Lessons are best taught the hard way." Sukuna called forth his trident as he began to twirl it around effortlessly, the tip catching fire and creating a circle of red flames.
"Someone ought to shut you up!"
"Someone's cranky. Do you need a nap pup?" Sukuna stuck his tongue out and before you knew it Gojo dashed forward with a strong gust of wind blowing everything away.
Gojo threw his knee up as he jumped into the air but Sukuna moved out of the way with a sidestep swipe.
The arc of fire slung around his body as he twirled and just when you thought it was gonna hit Gojo the alpha twisted and shot an attack at Sukuna with a purple ball.
"Purple!"
An explosion occurred as you slapped a hand upon your mouth.
You were afraid that Sukuna got hurt but you heard his cackles within the clearing of the smoke. Before you knew it the two were flying at each other and fighting like they were two super Saiyans going at it. Swinging and dodging and yelling at each other as they continued to move and attack one another.
One Goal in mind.
Being the strongest-
You didn't want to interrupt their fight because a good training session would most certainly help. You just didn't like how it felt more heated than it needed to be... but maybe that was just your omega heart who didn't want to see either of her alphas hurt. If Gojo won- Sukuna would be hurt... but maybe that one wouldn't hurt you so bad- but it would still suck if Gojo rips him up to near death! And then there was seeing Gojo get hurt...
This was natural... you had to remind yourself. You can't go ash running into Metwo and Mew right now.
While watching the fight you could see Satoru slip up a lot more- he was the one getting hit the most- his barrier weakening.
Sukuna was right about one thing he said, Gojo may be tired. This whole time Satoru had yet to rest, and he was running on empty.
"You okay?" Nanami questioned as he stepped up next to you, your gaze had yet to leave the two others that were fighting.
Soon the two had ended up fighting out of the area you were in.
That's when you noticed your blonde next to you and registered what he had said.
You gave him a little shrug, "I'm all for sparring but this just seems a bit...I dunno extreme...you saw how Gojo was acting that's not normal for him."
"I know you are worried but this is just the tough love Sukuna is bestowing upon Satoru. Though his methods are a bit... unorthodox... it's what Gojo needs... and wants."
"Sure...I guess... but I would like to at least set up camp and get food started. I'm sure they are going to be really tired when they are done..." You looked toward Getou and Toji who were standing further from you. They were watching the fight from their spot like it was a sports game they were betting on. "Come on guys!" You called to them, "Let's get settled in!"
As your other alphas gathered with you, you made sure to reiterate how proud you were of them. "I think you all did really well today." Fixing your lips with a smile you beam at them.
"They did." Getou scoffed, "I have yet to feel whatever divine super move is supposed to come to me from Tengen himself."
You laughed, "I haven't gotten it either! But that doesn't mean we aren't one step closer! So don't be a bummer slugger!"
"I'd like to also point out that it does not come from Tengen but within-"
"I knoooow Nanami." Your sassy alpha rolled his eyes making you giggle and Toji shake his head.
Getting to a nice spot you began to unpack and set up your nest. It was hard to not look toward the explosions and wreckage going on within the forest. It made your stomach feel uneasy, but your alphas would try to talk to you to keep your mind off of the two brawling beasts.
It's just a friendly spar...
Well, you wouldn't say friendly-
Possibly toeing the line of friendly-
It was just a spar.
They weren't going to kill each other.
When the commotion had died down you went still, finding the silence to be even more haunting than the actual storm. You perked up like a meerkat as you looked into the distance.
"There she goes again..." Getou whispered.
"All this worrying is going to give my princess grey hairs." Toji whispered back. "Maybe we should butt in."
"No Toji. You should know best that this is between them." Nanami was quick to shut down anyone who spoke about stopping the fight, even if it was for your sake.
Which really spoke volumes here, because they'd do anything for you.
"It's quiet..." You voiced trying to sound a bit nonchalant about the topic and not the nervous wreck that hid beneath your skin.
"It might be over." Nanami looked upon you while he set up the skewers of meat. He watched you even though your eyes refused to move anywhere else but the direction of where the noise was coming from.
"Hm..." You hummed softly, hands still fiddling with the same piece of cloth you were holding like fifteen minutes ago.
There was a shared secret conversation going on with the three alphas that were observing you. They noticed these niche traits. You tend to get extremely hyper-fixated on things to the point that they wonder where you go and what you could be discussing within your own mind. Perhaps this sort of thing was a bit too much for you and they'd need to keep any of their alpha beef to themselves.
Unfortunately, things like this sort of came with the territory.
To them it was harmless but to you... well, they assumed it wasn't something you were used to.
"Ah- they're back." You were up in a flash dropping your blanket and walking toward Sukuna who stepped into the clearing. There were a few bumps and scratches on Sukuna but other than that he looked to be moving and functioning as usual. "Hey, how was your...uh..." You leaned your head to the side looking for the person you thought was also with him. "Where's Gojo?"
Sukuna hooked his thumb behind him, "Back there."
You opened your hands in confusion as your alpha joined the others hopping down with a grunt. "Dinner ready?"
"In a few." Nanami commented while twirling the sticks of meat above the fire.
Getou elbowed Sukuna, "Did ya win?"
"I'm here aren't I?"
"Oh~ That's a win for me big guy!" Getou waved to Toji as the man looked confused.
"I did not bet on this."
"I swear you shook on it."
"No you forcibly grabbed my hand and said deal-"
"Hello~?" You questioned still very confused, "Where is Gojo? Is he okay? Like what happened?"
Sukuna looked back at you, "Isn't it obvious?"
"Uh-No."
"He's licking his wounds."
You could not help the frown that took hold of your face. "Are you..." you paused for a second and then huffed, "...you just left him?"
"What? He lost and now he's sulking about it, what the fuck am I gonna do? Tell him it's ok and give him a gold rock for losing?"
You clicked your tongue, "I-I- honestly- I don't even know what to say to that. I know this is normal for you all... but this felt...rather... ugly and I didn't like it. I don't particularly enjoy seeing you all be mean to each other even if it's just a spar. It might be my omega spirit or like my human one- maybe both- I don't know I couldn't tell you..." You trailed off not knowing what you were trying to convey and if you were even going in the right direction because you couldn't really explain it yourself. "...Maybe I just don't understand and that's on me and I guess... my bad? I don't know." You decided to just walk away with that as your alphas call to you.
"Where are you going?"
"To find Gojo!"
"Let me come-"
"No- it's fine."
-The camp was silent as they watched you walk off. Not even when you were replying did you turn around.
You seemed... a bit upset...
Which, they all weren't surprised...except one person.
"Why would she go to him, I'm the one that won the duel." Sukuna questioned as if he could not believe his eyes.
Nanami sighed, "You know our omega is..." The blonde couldn't articulate the right word that would do you justice.
"Complicated?" Getou tried.
Toji nodded his head, "Something like that. But come on she said it herself, she just doesn't like seeing us hurt and fighting amongst ourselves."
"It was just a typical spat." Sukuna looked very confused. "And that asshole started it so why am I being treated like the bad guy?"
Nanami spoke with a firm and sarcastic tone, "Well, if you thought our omega was going to run up to you and kiss you for beating up one of her alphas then you might need to get your head out of your ass Sukuna."
Sukuna sputtered, they never knew what to do when Nanami was the one cursing at you. That meant you truly-truly- messed up. Sukuna felt his face turn red in embarrassment but still tried to double down. "You know this is what we alphas just do! You do it too! Come ooon!"
"Yes." Nanami sighed as if speaking to someone who was just not getting it. "I can understand that this is normal for us- but I know it is not normal to her."
"Right, oooor she just likes to baby Gojo."
"That is where you are wrong again Sukuna. She was very upset when she thought Satoru hurt me back when we were at the house. So I'm not surprised by her dampened mood. And honestly neither should you- But telling her it's normal is not going to magically make it normal. It's not going to make her act the way you want. So don't get bitter with her."
"I wasn't..."
Toji added, "She was doing that spacey thing she does."
"Mhm...Was like that the entire time you guys were fighting." Getou reached for a meat stick, pulling it to his lips so he could blow on the food. "Probably thinking about how much of an asshole you are."
Sukuna rolled his eyes snatching some food for himself, "I'm making him stronger!" He bit into it chopping and chewing with an angry frown.
The blonde alpha sighed.
Unfortunately, Sukuna still did not understand.
He will just have to let the thought simmer.
~
You moved through the trees sniffing out your alpha's candylike scent. When the smell of blood hits your nose your eyes widen in surprise. It was abundant- the smell so strong it seemed to overpower the sweeter scent.
You pushed off, now running with your nose guiding you. Zig-zagging and zipping through the forest until you jumped over a bush and nearly fell off a cliff- your feet slid and you leaned forward with a gasp- realizing that the cliff was actually the edge of an crater and right in the middle of it was Gojo lying flat on his back with his arms stretched. His shirt was scattered pieces of scraps- chest beaten and bruised- while his pants had cuts in them revealing the red lines upon his porcelain skin. Blue eyes were barely visible as they stared up at the sky, white lashes creating just a peek.
"Gojo!" You cried as you slid down the side and tumbled forward. "Gojo!" You shouted again as you placed both hands on his chest, your forehead dropping upon your hand in despair while you commanded your curse energy to heal your alpha.
A hand pets your head, "What's wrong sweetheart? Are you crying?"
"I-I can't believe he did this!" You gasped as you popped up to try to wipe away your sprinkles of tears. You knew it was just training but still!
Gojo seemed confused, just like your other alphas, "Do what?"
"Beat you up like this! He couldn't have gone easier on you or-I don't know not leave you out here by yourself!"
Gojo let out a little chuckle as it bubbled up into a full-blown laugh.
"Why-why are you laughing?"
You felt a little silly but also a lot better seeing the alpha laugh. Seeing him in the dejected state like before made your heart shatter. It looked too close to the death scene that plays when Gojo 'dies' in the game- his last words being- "I'm sorry- I guess I wasn't- as strong as I thought-" You've only heard it once along with all the other death quotes, because any time any one of them died you'd exit out faster than you could blink.
"Haha~ I was just thinking for a second there..." Gojo grinned while wiping away your tears, "...That I could sooo milk this and make Sukuna look like a complete ass and let you spoil me but then...yeah... I can't."
You released a little snort, "Now that you say that, that would have been a total Gojo thing for you to do."
"Right? My complete MO and everything huh..." Gojo's silly tone trailed off as he continued to stare at you with his blue eyes that seemed to make you drown in them. "...but nah...I lost. Just means I gotta get stronger to put Sukuna in a crater..."
There was always something much deeper within them. Beyond the crystal blue... like the darkest part of the ocean...
"Why didn't you follow your MO?" You question while the alpha sits up.
"I didn't want to because...I need to be realistic you know? For you. If I'm not strong enough then that's that...I'm not gonna get any better if I get cocky."
You were thoroughly impressed, "Wow... that's... very mature of you Gojo." You giggled thinking that the alpha was going to laugh with you but he only offered you a smile.
Then he hit you with the surprise bitch 9000-
"Yeah...hey (Y/n)? I think I love you."
