House of Alphas Chapter 86: Choice (Patreon)

Chef Note: (Me as I cook up this third meal this week lol)The beginning is in Sukuna's/Uraume's POV. At first, I wasn't going to write this snippet- I already knew how it went in my head- but to type it out is different since most of the story is told in the Reader's POV with some shifting POV moments. After Bunni's suggestion, I decided it wouldn't be too much to add this side dish, so enjoy!

Sukuna sat with an annoyed glare, keeping his prey still as he stared at nothing in particular.

He was too busy thinking about you.

He thought for sure you would have been excited for him to rip this bitch up- especially since she tricked you but apparently not. You teetered on your silly morals again. If he had the mental maze you had going on, he’d be dead at the age of five.

This world did not work like your world.

If you show an enemy that you can’t kill, then you are at a severe disadvantage. You will hold your spells, not putting as much energy behind them because you are afraid to kill someone accidentally.

But your opponent isn’t afraid.

They don’t hesitate.

They fight to kill.

They will use 100% of their power while you use the bare minimum.

It seriously pissed him off.

You had a weird way of viewing this world.

You trust way too easily, and you show compassion to those who don’t deserve it. Your smiles, your tears, and your kindness—none of these slugs deserved it.

So they have to be the ones to kill for you. Not that he was truly complaining- but that could be dangerous.

After his talk with Nanami the other day about your complex way of thinking, he noticed that you seemed to be in pain when someone else was in pain… as if you could feel their suffering. And it brings you great joy to make others happy, as if you shared it with them. Those are things that are usually experienced amongst the pack, but for you, it extended past that.

Even to those you didn’t even know, or even some beasts.

He’s surprised you don’t force that mentality onto him.

You do your best to turn a blind eye to the blood he spills upon the earth and consumes. He knows how much you hate it. How you look at him with those sad eyes as if you wished he didn’t do the things he does, but he does it for you. Even the eating of others' hearts. They contain reminisce of curse energy within them that makes him stronger. The fresher it is, the more energy he gains.

So, yes, he does that for you too.

For his compassionate omega, who wants to give everyone second chances and look at the good, trying to look past the ugly.

Trying to solve things without killing.

He didn’t have that ability.

He only saw the ugly. And solved things with blood.

The two of you were opposite, but he wouldn’t say that was necessarily bad.

Some of the people you have helped have proved to have their own benefits. Even when he could not see it at first, that- he can admit.

So now he found himself working a sort of system.

You give these people a cup, and he makes sure they die before they even think about taking any more than that.

And that’s why…

Sukuna looked down at the omega who was sobbing underneath him.

He had to get rid of anyone who dared to exploit your kindness. Especially considering you were probably the kindest person in the world. Even though he hates it and tried to correct it, it infuriates him even more to see someone use that against you. Something that he found to be your greatest weakness, only because of people like this omega.

He wishes you could put your trust in everyone.

But you can’t.

That was the harsh, cold truth.

And that’s what this situation showed.

He’s almost glad this occurred now, while he was here and not in a place where you could have suffered serious consequences. It was a good lesson for you- no doubt this will weigh on your mind. It’ll most likely make you cautious about who you trust. He doesn’t think this is what will tip you over... He’s not sure if anything can. You will always have that good-hearted nature about you.

It's what makes you- well, you.

That complex brain of yours gives you the ability to have both light and shadow energy.

You can jump back and forth from it almost like a switch.

Your light energy was amazingly strong, even though you used your dark energy more. Your mental state is what causes it to have that extra kick to it. Your love for them makes a simple heal spell do more than any potion or healer he’s ever had.

Your extreme emotions were both your weakness and strength.

So he wonders what hatred could do for your shadow energy.

Was it truly sick of him to want to see that darker side of you explode? How much stronger would your dark energy be if you fought with anger? You had given him a taste when you were trapped in the cell, and that slug witch was taunting you.

Wanting to steal him away.

You didn't even feel pain in the moment; your dark energy was visible, without you even casting it. And the way you growled in such a vicious way. It was a beautiful sight.

Was jealousy perhaps your trigger? Or perhaps the thought of someone trying to take one of your alphas was.

He was unsure.

You seemed to really want to kill these alphas to free the omegas, but even this wasn’t enough to make you bloodthirsty.

What will it have to take for you to tip in the other direction, opposite of your love…what kind of power could you have?

He knows for a fact that is why you haven’t received your ‘special move’ as you called it.

You are holding yourself back without even realizing it.

The only way you would unleash such powerful magic is if you allow your hatred to power your energy.

The problem is what could make you hate? Perhaps something devastating would have to occur.

Sukuna’s thoughts drifted when he heard the sliding door shift to the side. Looking over his shoulder, he spotted your new obsession. He didn’t even hear them coming. He was slightly impressed that they were able to walk so quietly.

The omega’s eyes fluttered wide, surprised by the scene they were met with, “What-“

“Hurry up and come in.” Sukuna stated, but the omega hesitated, so he uttered in frustration, “Are you deaf?”

Uraume came in, closing the door with clumsy fingers, but then they stood in their spot, not understanding what was happening and what was required of them. Am I about to be killed? They wondered. Their gaze revealed their obvious confusion.

Sukuna rolled his eyes. You and Nanami didn’t fill them in on why they were coming here. Now he has to do it! “Do you want me to kill this omega or what? The choice is yours.”

“M-my choice?” Uraume’s brows furrowed. They could hear the muffled cries from Remi, but the situation was so confusing, they didn’t even realize it was Remi until they stepped closer.

“Yes, hurry up now, I don’t have all day.”

“Is…this her blood?” Uraume questioned. With how much that was there, they were surprised Remi wasn’t already dead.  

“It’s his.” Sukuna nodded toward the tub.

Walking over cautiously, Uraume got close enough to see who he was, “Is…is that Reggie?” They asked in shock.

Sukuna took a deep breath, he was not trying to deal with this. He wanted to get this over with so he could get back to killing without the extra steps. Why, oh why- did he have to ask you if you wanted this omega dead? He should have just snapped her neck. But damn his sick desire for you to say yes.., “Yes-“ he answered and then stopped speaking as he heard footsteps coming toward them. He released a low growl, “- get rid of them-now.”

“Yes, sir-“ Uraume quickly went out to greet the other omegas that were on their way.

“Hey Uraume, we were trying to get cleaned up for the alphas’ event, will you join us?”

“So sorry, the bath is closed due to some sewage issues... Reggie’s orders.”

“There are always issues with this bathroom…” They sighed, turning around to leave.

Remi tried to use all her last bit of energy for the fight to call for help during the omegas’ conversation, further irritating Sukuna. He was about to just kill her but-but… he could just hear your voice-

‘Why would you do that, Sukuna-Guys I told him not to do it!’

Then he will hear the others-

‘Sukuna you asshole!’

‘What did the princess say?’

‘Apologize this instant Ryoumen.’

Honestly, the shit he puts up with in this pack…

The omega came back in, successfully deterring the others.

“Sorry…” Uraume began, taking a deep breath before saying, “Um… I just need to understand… you are giving me the choice to keep her alive…? Like if I say yes…what would you do?”

“Well seeing as this bitch tripped my omega and tricked her…” Sukuna flashed a toothy grin, “You really don’t want to know.”

“Is…it something horrible?” The omega drifted off as they looked down at Remi, their eyes wide and pleading.

“Beyond.”

“…and if I say… no?”

Sukuna let out a noise of irritation, “-Then I guess I don’t fucking kill her.”

Uraume was surprised by the alphas’ clear yearning- he wanted to kill her. So why was he giving them the choice? It made no sense. “If you want to kill her, then why won’t you? What does this have to do with me? Why does my opinion matter?”

“Because my omega wanted you to choose.”

“Raven?” Uraume gasped.

“Who else?!”

The omega covered their mouth as they turned away, eyes wide in disbelief. You- you -wanted to give them this choice? Such a…choice…of a life? How could you- how could you give them this? This was… they didn’t know how to feel…another choice you have given them… you keep giving them choices- they don’t make choices- not anymore- so why- why do you keep doing this for them? What have they done for you…to do this…why would someone such as the prime omega themselves…someone in such a position of power… give them a choice…Uraume couldn’t understand…this had to be a trick- no way you just wanted them to cook for you!

That’s it? Their food was so good that you’d go to these lengths to help them? There had to be a catch, but for some reason, they felt that this was just who you were. Even someone like Remi... you were willing to trust them. Willing to give people a cup of your kindness, and they would not dare to spit in it like Remi had done. It’s the most that anyone has ever given them, without even asking for barely anything in return. They will treasure it dearly.

Sukuna’s patience was seriously running out, but when he saw the omega start to quiver, he was one drop away from flipping. The fucking omega was crying?! Did he make them cry? Over what?! Now he knows you will be pissed! Shit!

“If you don’t want to choose, then I will! Just get the fuck out!”

“Mmn-“ Uraume let out a noise that sounded like they were crying, but then… “Mhahaha…hahaha!”

They started to laugh like a maniac, trying their best but failing to stifle the sadistic cackle.

They turned back around with the biggest smile Sukuna had ever seen them have- he didn’t even think they could smile- that’s what took him by utter surprise- and then what they said…

“Hahaha~ Aaah~ Yes, absolutely.”

“Yes?” Sukuna questioned in complete shock.

“Isn’t that what you wanted? Well, on with it then! I would love to see horrible and beyond, please. Don’t be shy.”

Sukuna couldn’t help the bubbling laughter that escaped him- that was not what he was expecting. But then again, you did say he chose Uraume to be head chef in your story. He must have had a good reason.

Who would have known this omega matched his sadistic side?

Only you.

“Gladly.”

Remi tried to scream once again as she watched the two laugh together like they were long-time friends sharing a wholesome moment.

“So what happened?” Gojo questioned, relaxing on one side of the tub, with his arms hanging on the sides.

You were in between him and Nanami.

Nanami shifted in the water as he gently washed you, “When we got there, Reggie was standing outside, listening to the conversation-“

“That mouth breather tricked you?” Gojo gasped in shock, his movement causing the water to slosh around and spill upon the floor.

You let out a little laugh at what he called Remi, “Yes, unfortunately, I was tricked. She saw Uraume put the note in the soup and assumed that it was them asking for help, which she was right, but she wasn't sure…She played me right into her trap, and I…I fucking fell for it. Admitted to the whole thing without even realizing it. Luckily, my alphas were there to rescue me.” You finish with a smile as you kiss Nanami on his cheek.

The blonde grinned, “My job is to protect you, is it not?” Your alpha brought you closer so he could kiss you sweetly.

You pressed into him, showing him through your kiss how deeply you appreciated his help. If you had time, you’d show him more appreciation than this, maybe you can make it quick- your hand brushed down his chest-

“Wait wait-“ Gojo butt in, stopping your makeout session “-so did you guys kill them?”

“Mm, Nanami killed Reggie-“

“Most satisfying.”

“-and…I don’t know about Remi. I left that up to Uraume.”

“You mean the one Sukuna chose to be our head chef in your story? That one?”

“Yup.”

“Well, she’s dead.”

“I dunno.” You shrug; that choice has been tossed away from your shoulders.

“Sweetheart~.” Getou purred as he leaned into the bathroom, “Your guests are arriving~. How, oh, how will you keep them busy? Shall we leave some toys for you to play with yourself until we get back?”

You gasped in embarrassment, “What-I-I’m not staying here- I’m coming out with you guys.”

“I dunno…I think you should let us handle it.” Nanami stated as he helped you out of the bath, wrapping a towel around you.

“Yes, who’s going to make sure the people are entertained?” Getou spoke while closing the door so no one could hear your conversation.

You shook your head, “We will just tell them to stay put... I want to fight. The quicker we get rid of them, the better. Besides, we work best as a team.”

“Are you… sure you can handle it?” Gojo questioned while putting his clothes on.

You let out a little snort, “What does that mean? Why wouldn’t I be? There may be a lot of them, but we have the upper hand with our candies.”

“He’s not referring to your ability to overpower them…” Nanami spoke with a gentle tone, “…but more of your capability to kill them.”

“Oh…”

Getou clarified a bit more, “This isn’t a situation that we can take lightly. They must be dispatched immediately-“

“-That means no putting them to sleep.”

“-and we must do it without hesitation.” Gojo finished after Nanami.

You had gone quiet as you realized this was something they had all felt and must have spoken about. Even your sweet, loyal Gojo was willing to challenge you. Usually, he’s all for whatever you want and sexy commander this and sexy commander that- but he, too, didn’t think you had it in you to…kill someone.

Were you mentally ready for that type of blood on your hands?

Wasting your mana on sleep spells was not a good idea. That was a single-target spell, and it wasn’t even one that was a part of your shadow or light kit, so it would be the least effective. If you were playing this on your computer, you would go in with a good ole AOE(area of effect) blast that would wipe out a lot of them as your alphas clean up the rest of the enemies.

Were your alphas right about you?

Should you stay back while they took care of the enemies…

You pondered the very idea.

Your alphas tried to cheer you up while you all finished getting ready, but when they moved to put your dress on, you denied the cute gown that was picked.

Instead, you put on your slutty magical girl gear, while saying, “I’m going.”

There was a quietness that filled the bathroom… and it was pretty loud considering the people you were standing with… so you pleaded your case. Keep your expression and tone strong, “…They hurt the omegas and betas here… they are terrible…evil…people…this is what I have to do to save them. I will have to put my big girl panties on and do it."

“If that’s what you want...”

“It is.”

You had to get over this fear.

In the game, you make choices to kill or spare lives. In your first pacifist playthrough you denied killing anyone and some of those choices came back to bite you in the ass. Some of your nonkilling choices ended up getting innocent people killed. So your next playthrough, you made sure to be cautious with who you gave second chances.

Choso may have tried to kill Yuta (and succeeded in the game), but you felt his character could be saved. He was just following his father's orders, you think he was a son who was raised incorrectly. You felt there was some good within his character. He wasn't hurting people because he enjoyed it...at least you hope... he did it because he was told.

You could not say the same for these alphas down here in the dark. You did not feel as though their characters were in that morally grey spotlight. They were all shitty assholes who hurt others because they could…because they found sick pleasure within it.

Perhaps that’s why you feel you could do this.

Or perhaps that’s what you told yourself to be able to cope.

You were getting rid of the slugs of this world. Ultimately, making it a better place.

Exiting the bathroom, you were surprised to see so many omegas and betas littering the space. Toji and the beta with heart nipples were busy pouring cups of Grata to the guests.

The omegas seemed a bit surprised by the offer and possibly the task at hand.

“All you want us to do is watch?” One of them questioned, boldly speaking up.

The others looked toward the omega as if they were about to be punished-

“You are supposed to ask for permission to speak-“ one of them hissed under their breath.

"Oh-s-sorry- please forgive me-"

Toji shook his head, “No worries, I will dismiss this mishap but yes, we would just like for you to watch and enjoy yourself. Is that too much of a spell to handle?”

The audience looked amongst themselves but then shook their heads.

“No prime alpha- thank you for this opportunity.”

You knew the respectful bows and words of gratitude would have been said for anything your alphas had asked for. That’s just how they were trained. But you felt they actually meant it this time. This was probably the easiest assignment they were ever given. All they had to do was sip wine and watch a live-action porno- it was sad that they would breathe a sigh of relief at such a thing.

When you free them, your alphas promise to help them find better homes.

You glanced at two omegas who were whispering to each other, but when your eyes caught theirs, they stopped talking and hung their head. You quickly looked away, hoping that they didn’t think they got into trouble. You couldn’t say what you were doing because there could be other rogues within the mass, that’s how Reggie probably kept them in check. There might be more snitches around the group, just like Remi.

“Toji.” Nanami called as the three of you moved to the door.

“Here, pass out the rest of the Grata. We will grab some more.” Toji handed the bottle off to another bystander.

“We will be right back. Stay put until we gather the others.” Gojo called out as Getou opened the door.

“Yes, sir!” The group spoke in unison.

Toji looked surprised as you followed. When the door closed, he pointed at you, “What are you doing sweetheart?”

“I’m coming too.” You say nonchalantly as you begin to walk forward.

“What…” Toji glanced at Nanami, “…I thought she was staying?”

“She said... she was ready.”

You didn’t need to turn around to know that your alphas had expressions of doubt.

Guess you will just have to prove them wrong and yourself right.

Walking down the corridor, you saw a group of people coming from the opposite direction, where the bathing room was. Sukuna and Uraume were behind them.

Some of the alphas and omegas were half-dressed; it looked like they evacuated their rooms in haste. Angry scowls painted their faces as they shouted.

“Where the hell is Reggie! I want my money back!”

Uraume bowed to them, “We are sorry you had to leave your room in such a hurry. Reggie is handling the plumbing as we speak. Please enjoy a bottle of grata while you wait.“

“A bottle! We better receive more than that-“

“You will.” Nanami cut in. “Once Reggie handles the situation, you will be compensated for this mistake.”

“I almost froze my balls off!”

As the alphas bickered and complain about the shitty service, you leaned to the side to look down the hall. You inwardly grinned, seeing a path of ice that circled the hallway, leading as far as your eyes could see. That had Uraume written all over it. Sukuna must have given them one of their candies. Looks like they had quite the bonding time for him to share.

"If you keep yapping, then you can find another hotel to go to." Gojo said- shutting the alphas up, because what other fucking hotel was there?

“Fucking shit hole.” The alphas finally grumbled, going toward the bar, but before the omegas could follow, Toji put a hand in front of them.

“Go to our room, room 200. You can get cleaned up in our bath.”

“Hey! Those are our omegas!”

“Yes, we are aware, but they need to be washed; they will return to you once finished. You can have them for an extra night… on the house, of course.”

“Two extra nights.”

You wanted to barf, but you held it in, knowing that there won’t be another night.

“I’ll speak to Reggie about it.” Nanami nodded.

After the alphas left and the omegas went on their way, you were left with your pack and Uraume.

“Did you guys have fun?” You ask with a smile.

Uraume ducked their head with a slight blush, “Perhaps a bit too much as you can see...I hadn’t used magic like that in a long time…It felt...nice.”

“The ice is yours?” Getou questioned in awe.

“Yes… But it won’t last long. We evacuated this half of the hotel, but the other side has more people inside.”

Nanami waved the worry off, “We can knock those out with the master key. Let us focus on getting rid of the bulk of them first.”

“Yeah, thanks for your help Urachoi!”

You hit Gojo with an elbow, “Their name is Uraume- how did you mess it up that bad!”

Gojo chuckled awkwardly, “My bad, Uraume.”

You noticed Uraume’s slight smile at your correction. "It is not a problem, prime alpha."

“What brute, this is our omega’s new friend you must treat them with the utmost respect!” Getou added. “My name is Getou.” Your alpha bowed, but before anyone else could introduce themselves, Toji said-

“Not to be rude, but we can do introductions later; we have other things to handle before the ice melts.”

The omega spoke up cautiously, still not comfortable about having the freedom to speak around your alphas without permission, “…Is...um... is there anything else I can do?”

“Actually…” You began, “…can you watch the betas and omegas in our room? Make sure they stay put until we are done?”

“We?” Sukuna questioned before Uraume could answer. “Aren’t you staying in the room too?”

“No, she wants to be a big girl.” Getou cooed.

“Does she now?” Sukuna looked toward you with a challenging glare. As if to say-‘yeah right’.

You tried to ignore the alpha's gaze, shifting your eyes to Uraume, “Would you be alright with that?”

“Of course. Anything that you require, I will do it.”

The devotion in their voice was a surprise to you, even their eyes showed a gleam of loyalty that you had only seen being given to Sukuna- within the game. What- how did this change come about?

Perhaps it was because they see you as their savior.

Well, that was definitely not a part of the plan, but you didn't mind, “Here… take this candy just in case…I’m not sure if there are any others like Remi.”

“There are.” Uraume stated without missing a beat.

You gave them a slight smile, “Then do what you must, but don’t hurt those that are innocent.” Dropping the candy into Uraume’s hand, Gojo snuck one of his over their shoulder without much of a word. You sent the alpha a tiny glare. This was just another one of his attempts to get rid of the nasty candy! Gojo avoided your gaze, but you didn't make more of a fuss about it because giving Uraume two made you feel much more comfortable anyway.

Uraume stared at the two candies and then looked at you, “I won’t fail you.”

“I know you won’t.” You stated, showing them that you had full confidence in them, and that served to be just the light Uraume needed.

They nodded as they went off this time with a better posture. They were slowly looking more like the proud omega you have come to meet in the game. It was not yet full of confidence, but it was something. Baby steps… no matter how small, it was still something to be proud of.

“Ready?” You questioned your pack.

“Are you?” Toji asked, still sounding cautious about your choice.

“Yes, I can’t wait to witness your first blood.” Sukuna had a ghostly grin on his lips as if he couldn’t quite contain his excitement.

“Don’t push her.” Nanami chided before turning to you. “We have all come to understand how you are, sweetheart, It was wrong of us to try to push you…so if this isn’t something you can do, then allow your alphas to bloody their hands instead of your own.”

You cupped Nanami’s cheek gently, “I know. You all would do so much for me. But this is something I must do... if I wish to protect you all…someday we will be going back to the priest tower…and fighting other monsters that wear skin… I need to be ready for when that time comes… in order to protect those that I love…” You let your alphas digest those words before you stepped up in front of them, like the leader you were, “…So yes. I’m ready.”

“That’s good to hear.” Nanami breathed. He seemed to be a lot more relaxed now that he knew you were alright. He then adjusted his glasses as a darker color took his eyes, “Now let’s show them what true terror is.”

“Won’t this be just fun~” Getou fluffed his kimono and wiped off nonexistent dust.

“Yeah- let’s fuck shit up.” Gojo cracked his neck, hopping up and down.

“I can’t wait.” Sukuna licked his lips.

“I‘ll enjoy ripping them apart for you, princess.” Toji flexed his fingers.

You grinned, feeling rather excited… a fearful kind of adrenaline. Like that feeling, you get when you are about to ride a rollercoaster.

However, you weren’t about to ride a rollercoaster, you were about to indulge in a bloody massacre.

Chef Note: If there is something that confuses you, please don't be afraid to ask! I know I have said this before, but sometimes I use game terms and may not realize that some people may not understand.

Like when reader says she did a pacifist run- that just means when she played the game all the way through the first time, she didn't pick any choices that killed anyone( you still kill the villains but this more of refers to the people she could choose to kill or not) . which resulted in some unwanted results.

Her second run- playing the game all the way through for a second playthrough- she killed those people and got a better result.

That is how she is comparing Choso and the slug-mouth breather alphas.

Choso is redeemable... the others not so much.
