Matt and Daniel welcome Jeremy Kaplowitz from the Quorators podcast for a remembrance of Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif. Later they watch David Mamet create a scene of immeasurable tension between two people in a tightly hemmed performance space, and finally probe Mayor Pete’s take on some rigid, girthy problems, bursting with arousal.

Please post the photo of the BAD HASBARA logo on the Gaza City Flour Fund menu and letterhead... and get some samples to sell for merch...

Synecdoche - where the part stands in for the whole. Metonymy - substitution of the name of the thing for an attribute or adjunct, something associated with the thing. Maybe the PLO is more of a Metonym?

Much like Matt, I am sick to the back teeth of BBC news 😤

Conrad Black actually used to own the Jerusalem Post. If memory serves he owned the Chicago Tribune group when it controlled JPost when Bret "Bedbug" Stephens was editor in chief.

Oh Daniel, I'm crying as you read Anas's will 💔

Which BBC journalist said "Is it justified to kill five journalists when you are only targeting one?". I can't find that on the BBC and I want to make a formal complaint about that. That's an appalling thing for a journalist to say and to frame it as a question. Was it Jonathan Donnison BBC reporting from Jerusalem. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c1dxndnkq6yt 'BBC understands Sharif worked for a Hamas media team in Gaza before current conflict published at 12:49 11 August 12:49 11 August Jon Donnison Reporting from Jerusalem Anas al-Sharif, who has been a familiar face on Al Jazeera for much of the war, worked for a Hamas media team in Gaza before the current conflict, the BBC understands. Israel says he was "the head of a terrorist cell in Hamas" but has produced little evidence to support that. In some of his social media posts before his death, the journalist can be heard criticising Hamas. The killing of Sharif and four of his Al Jazeera colleagues, effectively wiping out the network’s team in Gaza City, has been strongly criticised by the Committee to Protect Journalists. There will be questions about Israel’s justification for killing Sharif if he played a relatively minor non-combat role with Hamas several years ago. Also, as has been the issue throughout the war, there is the question of proportionality. In targeting Sharif, the IDF killed four other Al Jazeera journalists with no suggestion of any links to Hamas." I have put in a complaint to BBC re Jonathan Donnison's appalling question "I wish to make a complaint about the comment made by Jonathan Donaldson, BBC reporter in Jerusalem saying the following: " Throughout the war there's the question of proportionality. Is it justified to kill five journalists when you are only targeting one?". This is an appalling framing of a question by a journalist following the murder of five fellow journalists. Could the BBC clarify if it is ever justified to target and kill a journalist? I note that this journalist 's copy was rephrased on the BBC website. Is it BBC policy to ask the question of when it's okay to kill one or more journalists? Please escalate this to the highest level as this contradicts international law and the fact that it is a war crime to target and kill any journalists." https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints/make-a-complaint/#/Complaint%20Summary

That mamet clip is very illuminating. I didn't know that hijab is antisemitic

Staten Island (the south end) is like if someone made a Blue Lives Matter acid tablet

I haven't subscribed to the NYT in a while but I still get emails from them about what they're reporting on that day and the subject line is always something like "Why Won't Gen Z Keep an Open Tab at Bars? Also, Gaza".

Anas’ last will is so powerful. Thank you for reading it and giving it the gravity it deserves. I was in tears. He entrusts us with Palestine, and we cannot let him down.

I can't help comparing the Gazan reactions of their murdered loved ones to Israeli IOF funerals. At IOF funerals there's always nice memories and "he was a lovely man." And then a promise of a trip to Gaza for a vengeance orgy. And then you have Mohammed Qreiqeh's oldest boy, promising his murdered father that he will take care of his mother and sisters. And Anas' nephew Musab, who has been acting as Anas' assistant and apprentice for the past 2 years, announced he is taking up his uncle's mission to be a voice for Gaza. No talk of vengeance. Just "we will continue to live and honour you."

Buttigeig is talking about Cold War politics, when Russia aligned countries were calling Zionism evil. Zionism was officially held as racist in the UN from 1975 until 1991. So he is basically saying that any state supporting Palestine will have their own interests.

Also, my first experience with Wokemerica was seeing a production of Glengarry at Oberlin where they cut out all the racist remarks around Indians. It was only a matter of time from then on…

i was positive butigegs people convinced him to grow a zylensky beard... although when i first saw him i initially thought of saddam huessein ... so honestly nvm me

Of course the legendary journalist wasn't Hamas. It's simply impossible with how busy he was. But frankly at this point you could not pay me to gaf if someone is Hamas or not. Hamas has shown more respect for human life than Israel has (although the bar is in Hell).
