Hey sweet piggies, we finally did it. After a year and a half of drip-less podcasting, the Bad Hasbara merch store is live! Our first design by artist Dave Tell is available now. You can get it in navy or ash grey, and the shirts are 100% cotton, made in the USA by Bayside, a union shop.

Supplies are super limited because it costs a lot to make non-sweatshop merch. So get one while you can and we might order more.

Pick up your shirt here!

Very awesome, oddly I can't order with Canadian shipping

the cherry toe may toe

Jude

Oh no, really?

maybe I've missed something(?) but as lovely as they are it seems very very off to go dropping entirely for profit merch at this juncture

Bad Hasbara

We've just checked with the merch co, and they've said Canadian shipping is turned on. If you still have an issue please email us a screenshot at badhasbara@gmail.com and we'll make sure it gets sorted out!

I've seen people asking for merch, and the Patreon is largely for profit too (they say to donate to other things first). I understand wanting to avoid being crassly for profit. But at the same time if people want the merch, I feel like it would be similarly crass to not make it just to avoid being thought of as the sort of people who would make merch. That's just being self-glorifying for social capital instead of financial.

hoping the hosts see this: i've been a patron for some time because I recognise the labour that goes into making this great pod and think that’s a fair way to sustain it but there’s a thin line between sustaining something through subscriptions and drifting into treating it like a content vertical at a time like this, launching entirely for-profit merch feels more egregious than ""crass"" as virtue signalling argument man put it

I was wondering what the image was, it look like a poorly drawn Jaffa Organge. How about the design BAD JEW, BAD HASBOYREH... or SELF HATING JEWS LOVE BAD HASBOYREH ! OR ..GIVE ME BIBI OR GIVE ME DEATH or even THE MOST MORAl podcast in the universe : bad hasboyreh. you could even approprirate the Palestinian 'shook' t-shirts of 'AMERICA DON'T WORRY, ISRAEL IS BEHIND YOU', with a cartoon of two pigs doint it piggy-style...?

I want a drawing of Matt’s bald liberal zionist character.

It seems very reasonable for people who are likely paying a producer as well as giving up enough time to make 2 episodes a week to get paid for their work in a totally voluntary way. It's not like they are investment bankers or something. It would be like saying journalists shouldn't get paid. Doesn't really check out.

I get some feel more ambivalent about this than me, but am honestly very confused about why my point is getting pushback. What I raised was reasonable whether personally viewed as an ethical red line or not. At least in my country, people who take stopping the genocide seriously (be they journalists or something else) tend to either not receive income from their efforts in this space or be living pretty modestly. It doesn't typically scale into a comfortable living. I don't think it's weird to question how appropriate that is, whether talking about an investment banker or a podcast host (and especially in the case of non-Palestinians).

Gaaaah sold out of mediums!

I don’t agree with you. It’s fine to bring it up, but this hardly qualifies as a gratuitous cash grab… when they start offering Bad Hasbara cruise vacation packages , I’ll be with you 100%.

I'm sorry dawg, but we live in a society & they gotta pay their bills somehow.

Just wondering what country you come from? Living as a creative ethical person in the US is a nightmare. Rent in cities has risen to ridiculous rates in the last decade. Food is impossibly expensive. Transportation and everything else is expensive. How are journalists working and not getting paid? That would point to all journalists either being independently wealthy or like squatters. I work in healthcare, I have do a good job and I care about my patients but I sure as shit want to get paid for the work I do. They are giving the product away for free and selling t shirts. If they make a living off the patron and some t shirts, good for them. They are putting their necks on the line. Given the political situation it's not like they are aren't putting themselves at risk.
