Matt, Daniel, and Producer Adam answer your questions with the honesty and humility you can only get from three guys rushing to fill the gaping maw of the content monster before they leave for a weekend of sold out shows in New York (who also love the listeners and viewers).

I'm so impressed by the answers to the Hamas question and to the question about Syrian Mizrahim. So much complexity and knowledge packed into such brief, unscripted responses. This is why I listen to Bad Hasbara.

As a fellow ADHDer, Daniel has never said anything more relatable than “everyone should read this book that I have on my shelf and haven’t read yet.”

I'm a 'Bad Hasboyreh' gesheft subscriber from Or-straylia, how do i leave mail? What are your favourite 'not Dreck' Jewish or half/lapsed Jewish rock bands/artists?

RevLeft Radio Podcast has a very fair and fact-based discussion on Hamas in their episode on Yahya Sinwar shortly after he was murdered. I found it immensely educational. I went in an emotioned supporter of Hamas and walked away an educated supporter of Hamas.

Paul Anka’s first wife was actually born in Alexandria in the 1940’s and lived there until Nasser came to power. They were part of the British elite and the Syrian Lebanese elite, most of whom fled or were expelled or their properties and businesses were confiscated. Alexandria was also a very Jewish city until the suez ‘crisis’. Now, I don’t know if or how that influenced Paul Anka’s views but his wife grew up in the midst of a lot of political turmoil

I don’t think he ever made a direct comment, but he made an oblique comment at least once that I took as being directed at Beinart. I don’t recall where or when, exactly. It had to do with Jews being overly self-involved even when they’re ostensibly allies, to the point of writing books about what the genocide in Gaza means for being Jewish (paraphrased).

Nico

At the risk of sounding like a feel-good liberal, I like both Beinart and Al-Kurd a lot, and I’m glad this pod can give voice to both of their perspectives. Yours sincerely, Rude boy Nico

Thank you for taking my question! A Serious Man is an excellent entry to the diaspora canon imo. I was actually thinking specifically of Isaac Bashevis Singer when I asked the question, but have not read Shadows! Xo
