Matt and Daniel are joined by screenwriter and co-host of the West Wing Thing and The Movies That Made Me, Josh Olson to run through Betar’s abrupt exit from the state of New York, Scott Wiener’s limp paddle, and then all three reveal themselves to be Sorkin dorks.

Re: films that left you shook- I remember when I had COVID and was isolating from everyone for two weeks I watched Threads and Come And See in the same day on Day 3 and just had an existential crisis for about next 10 days before I could see anyone.. good movies but bad times Like Olson said- I don't know if I ever will go and watch the film Voice of Hind but I hope it's a success and the people who need to see it see it

I love you guys. Trauma or not, the world is a better place with you fellas in it. Thanks for your podcast. I can't contribute much per month coz of the situation im in but I really really enjoy listening to you's and I appreciate your work. Thank you x

Josh needn't worry about doing The Newsroom: Michael & Us did it, at least the first two seasons, episode by episode. And they did you one better. No, not Sportsnight, but Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Episode by episode. And if you don't know what that's about, think about giving SNL the West Wing treatment.

Rachel Holmes

Threads on its own is enough to leave you traumatised, even when you’re not isolated. I saw it in the 80s as a teenager. I lived in Sheffield, so I found it extra horrifying! I still want to see Voice of Hind though.

Child molesters were all trauma victims. That’s why we let them them molest all the children they want Who are we to speak about how they deal with their trauma?

Jo

The inherited/ vicarious trauma discussed is pure racism and a window into the sickest part of their souls. That past trauma does not apply to the human experience of suffering in a genocide. If it did the result of it would be empathy for the humans currently experiencing it in gaza. Instead the trauma only applies to their very specific race/religion/demographic. They do not care about children. Only the religion they happen to be born into. Its the same racism that says 50 beheaded babies is abhorrent but 10,000 dead children (likely many with heads blown off) is acceptable. Again the difference is race not dead babies or children. And what's so hauntingly evil about all this is the play that is made to garner sympathy from the rest of the world. These psychopaths know and fully understand how horrific killing children is. How deeply that crime is felt amongst any, even vaguely sane person. They know its value precisely and they play the victim and then do exactly that crime 1000 fold against another race/religion. It is the purest form of evil. Full awareness and consciousness of what they're commiting.

DS9 is really good but please no “Deep Your Space a Nine”

Nico

That title is too good not to use though.

LeobaL

Oh wow, I'm almost a year older than Daniel!

LeobaL

Next time throw Martyrs into the mix too. Just to completely shred your psyche.😱

LeobaL

Something else that wasn't journalism or art - that disgraceful "Screams Without Words" piece that the NYT still hasn't retracted. That can't even be called a distortion of the truth.

GC

Daniel's take on the Sorkin parody around 1:17:30 was realistic enough that I almost had to skip forward. Yeeeeesh

Eve

Heads blown off and children...CHILDREN intentionally SNIPERED in the head. These fuckheads took aim and intentionally shot bullets into children's fucking heads.

riz

WTF - whyyyy would you do that to yourself?? I've seen Threads (when I was terrified of Nuclear War as we all were in the 80s) but not heard of Come And See but I watched the trailer. Holy feck. Next time do what I did - watch Wallace and Gromit animations back to back.

Jo

Yeah its unfathomable, i wanna try understand it. Seems they're pure evil from the top of whatever is going on with those running Western society right down through Israeli society into the soldiers on the ground. Whats also so fucking creepy is how they try to hide it from the public in full awareness of their crimes, by highlighting their past suffering of the same crimes. Our governmens and leaders are fully aware as well. Honestly its like some nightmarish mythical monster that no one can see, sitting in plain sight devouring children and no one doing anything to stop it.

Eve

Matt Lieb, has to be said more often: you're the most naturally funniest fecker going at the moment - always chuckling away in my car at your impersonations, songs, funny quips, self-deprecating humour etc. - come to Ireland this year!! This is the kind of shizzle we dig here (to use some American parlance).Comeeee onnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!

Shugoshin

Grave of the fireflies is a movie that lets you know in the beginning the fate of the two main characters and it does nothing to minimize the pain of watching the rest of the film
