Adam definitely doesn't identify with a small girl amongst the jungle of giants, especially one as anxious as Yachi 😂

That made me laugh so hard lmaoooooo

By the way, for all the jokes that Asahi ends up as the butt of, I love that he immediately recognized the self-doubt that caused him to do a safe serve and called it out himself before anyone else. He's just such a good egg in every way. Also, I'm pretty sure Yamamoto was crying mainly because Kiyoko was leaving XD P.S. Yachi is my favorite thing in this entire episode. Fight me.

What a great arc that I'm not sure cracks my top three from Haikyuu. Edit: I’m not really interested in trying to convince people to like characters. It’s fine if you don’t like Bokuto, no worries. Now if you’re wanting a legitimate answer as to why I like him then I would need more space than a comment section can provide. In short I like how his character sort of functions as an opposite to Ushiwaka. Adam won’t get this until later. Bokuto also seems like a big fan of Hinata which makes me a big fan of him. His speech to Tsuki about “the moment” is one of the better moments in the entire show, and he has an infectious way of talking about the sport that simply resonates for me. Yes his slumps are bad and he can’t live that way when he wants to go pro. Although I will disagree with Adam that his slumps drain energy from his team. It might be a construct for the creator (that may or may not work for you as a viewer) but the team shows off its greatest strength when Bokuto is down. Can’t wait to see some official matches and some new characters.

Regarding Bokuto, by the way - I'm not a particularly huge fan of him or anything like a lot of others; I just generally like him, so maybe I'm not the best for explaining it, but I can tell you the reasons I do at least like him as much as I do. First, as others have stated, is his general enthusiasm for the game. He very clearly enjoys and appreciates the game on a soul-deep level, whether it's himself playing or even when it's someone he's playing against doing something awesome. He doesn't hesitate to teach / help Hinata and Tsukki, and I don't believe for one second that Hinata using the feint he learned from him against his team had any negative effect on his play. In fact, I'm pretty sure he was actually more proud of Hinata than he could let on in that moment because his own team was (mildly) peeved at him for having taught Hinata the move. Second, and I think you both sort of glossed over / ignored this a bit (this happened even in your first watch as well), but his issues with emotional regulation are a double-edged sword, and the positive side of that sword is detailed in conversation a few times. While a seemingly very small thing can bring him down, an equally small thing can bring him up, as well. Additionally, as was stated in this episode, he actually doesn't get fazed by the kinds of things that would get most people down, including things that DO get his team down. In those moments, he's said to often be the one that keeps them stable and gives them hope, so it really goes both ways with him and his team. Would I like him much more if he wasn't a drama queen about his down moments and not as much of an attention hog? Absolutely. But his own teammate, when asked about the situation with his mood swings, stated that he's actually quite reliable. Although I do enjoy it as a comedic moment, the halfhearted "hey hey hey" is definitely pretty cringe-inducing; I 100 percent agree on that. Still, Adam is right - while it may not seem like it based on the little snippets we've seen these last two episodes, he has to have the respect and affection of his teammates for them to be so chill about not just the mood swings, but his self-aggrandizing and showboating. Sure, there's selflessness on their part in that as well, but no amount of selflessness will be enough for multiple people to regularly put up with that for someone they don't actively like. So while he may be a showboat on and around the court, he's very likely a genuine, appreciative guy and a good person in private. We haven't seen those kinds of moments with him since we spend our time with Karasuno, but I think it's quite likely. Finally, and this may be a bit of a cop-out, but... he *is* a fictional side character, and one that fulfills a number of narrative roles simultaneously. He's great comic relief, and he serves as both a mentor and an aspirational figure skill-wise, but with enough obvious weaknesses for us to be able to view him as a beatable opponent, should it ever come to that. He has a very distinct and memorable personality, and his high energy and loud demeanor (definitely an extrovert, lol) make him fun to watch. That's a lot of words about a character that I don't feel super strongly about and just generally enjoy, unlike a lot of the fanbase, sorry XD Hope that helps though!

amazing ending to this episode still laughing rn

just something i noticed, but i think sarah, you're getting s1 and 2 mixed up a bit a few times these past 2-3 episodes. it might give some stuff away for adam. just a heads up to be careful. love the reaction. i think we like bokuto for the same reasons we love hinata, theyre both airheads n its a good change of pace when everyones really serious. bokuto's just also not a bad person, like he never has any ill intent towards anyone. like adam says, hes oblivious. hes just happy when he plays well. I also love what kuro and bokuto did for tsukki, they stimulated his growth. imma have to blame sarah not liking bokuto on adam.. its cuz sarah gets flashbacks of golden age adam whenever she sees bokuto

MasterPpv

Haha, I specifically find the purposely halfhearted "hey hey hey" by his teammates in this episode cringe-inducing. Most of the normal ones I find either momentarily enjoyable or am indifferent to one way or the other.

Big T

We love Bo-kun cuz Hey hey hey!! 🦉 🤣

Adam always seems to be drawn to the idea of romance (more so than you Sarah but idk if that’s true)😭 maybe you guys should watch a romance anime at some point. They’re not as popular for reaction purposes, so they might not get as much views. I say this because I have this really good recommendation 👉👈 it’s one of my favorite old anime’s that should still be on crunchy roll it’s called Lovely Complex. It’s about a really tall girl(in Japan) in high school and her complicated love life. I really love that anime and would be super happy if you guys gave it a try.

The Top 8 from the Inter High (Tournament in Season 1) are exempt from the upcoming preliminaries, meaning that Karasuno could end up facing any of the remain 60+ teams to reach the qualifier (Including Date Tech)

Ashley hui

The Ubugawa guy (I think his name is Tora? ) slander will never be not funny lmao

magena

I think all of us should agree that it's hard to explain why we love Bokuto without spoiler😂

Linh Tran

His name is Gora Masaki

Sharles Davis Kendy

So right now it's the Prelims. The 8 best teams om this will make it to the actual Qualifiers in October and will be joined by the 8 best teams from the previous tournament. Whoever wins the Qualifier will then qualify for the Nationals. Date Tech lost to Karasuno last tournament, so I do believe they're in the prelims this year.

Thanks for the reminder!

Linh Tran

You can add it on the recommendation spreadsheet, pinned in the anime channel on Discord

Cristina

Oh, thanks for the suggestion!

Bokuto = Golden age Adam 🤣🤣🤣

I always appreciate the best efforts of the busy Sarah and Adam to share their listening experience with us. I will write my opinion, keeping in mind that I am only getting a peek at their reactions. What I like about Bokuto. His openness to accept different opinions without imposing his own opinion on Tsukishima, saying “It's just my story and I don't think it applies to everyone” or “I don't understand it but your idea is not wrong.” He is also a hard worker who practices so hard that his teammates run away from him, and his passion for volleyball is evident. As Akaashi told Tsukishima in the barbecue scene, his teammates rely on him, and like Kuroo, he has a caring personality. I think those points more than make up for Hey x 3 and the emo mode. It is impossible to remove Sarah's perspective as a volleyball player, and I think it is inevitable that she would be hard on Bokuto from a teammate's point of view, but they are still in high school and developing, so please forgive them a little. It is easy to forget that because of the maturity of the other characters. What Oikawa, Bokuto, and the Ubugawa guy have in common is that there was something physiologically unacceptable to Sarah that had nothing to do with the volleyball. Even if the three of them saved a drowning puppy, Sarah might not like it. The Ubugawa guy is pathetic because he is hated for something he can't control: his looks. In the barbecue scene, he is the kind guy who cares for Yachi before anyone else, asking, “Are you okay?” He is a kind and caring guy. It is often the case that we don't see the bad parts of people we like and we don't see the good parts of people we don't like. I don't know if it will be animated or not, but their growth is still on the way. I used a translation software, so please forgive me if I am rude. I look forward to seeing more.

sad that the pace of the episodes on patreon is still just one ahead than youtube. if it was 3-5+ episodes like in other channels i and prob many others would pay for it. I waited for a while thinking it will improve but its still 1 ep each :(
