This is the first episode that I am not really on board with... it was definitely on the slower side for me, but in addition that, I just don't believe what Light is doing. It all just seems too fake to me, and I'm not buying it.

Also, Ryuk doesn't have to listen to Light, and what reason does he have to obey him?? Is there something else at play here??

I think you guys have the right reaction -- which is to be confused about Light's plan just like the investigators. It doesn't seem to make sense. But...we'll see how it pans out down the line :)

When L, the smartest human on the planet, says "I don't understand what's going on here", it's okay to be confused hahaha Also, Adams comment of "people probably watched this a decade ago". Try 17 years! :)

I remember when I was perplexed on this episode ... so I binged the next couple and quenched my curiosity. Weekly would have been rough.

When I was watching this episode many years ago, I was so CONFUSED. Lol

Same for me, I knew that the author would give an explanation later so I just kept watching. Also, say if L doesn’t believe in supernatural things and would only build up theories based on actual facts and logic, it’s extremely hard to reach to an answer that can’t be explained by science. It’s like imagining a colour you didn’t even know existed
