The first 2/3 of this episode were challenging to get through... wow! The amount of detail in this series recap was off the charts.

Even if the recap was L sharing notes with the orphanage director, do we really need to see all of it?! Can someone explain why they did this?

The last 7 minutes, though, were great 🤣

I'm not sure how the episodes released when the show first came out. But sometimes there's huge gaps of time between seasons so people need a recap. The time gap between Haikyu season 3 and season 4 was a 4 year wait. Imagine having to wait that long?! 😭

I'm not seeing a big gap between episode releases. 25 and 26 are in April 2007

Recap episodes are very common in anime especially when separating big arcs

I have 2 thoughts: 1. This is absolutely just a filler episode, even as clever as it was in context of being "L's final messages". It was just a recap with a teensy bit of new footage at the end. 2. And that's why it's clever! Honestly, at this time (2007), you didn't have Crunchyroll, you didnt have streaming, you didnt have instant chat and forums and established discussion. So a recap was handy! It answers questions in a time where you weren't able to google it in a minute. I'll happily take a recap episode if it means more budget for the GOOD episodes.

I remember skipping the entire first half my first time watching it. I don't tend to like recaps.

Yeah that was a snooze fest.. I would have fast forwarded if we were not filming 😊
