I 100% almost cried when I saw that he named the music for his free program, "Yuri on Ice." 😭😭

Here I was just thinking that the anime title made sense because a guy named Yuri is skating ☠️

I think they just didn't vocalize their support. As an only child of parents who had their own business, they were just so busy and so tired when they came home, that they didn't have the energy to show the enthusiasm I would have liked for them to show when I did well in school or show up to events, etc. In their case, since their business is also their home, that's probably even more central to how they live their life. I think Yuri's parents are supportive and believe in him, I just don't know they realized how much more their son needed them to show it. Like, no one in his family went to pick him up when he came back, or attended his competitions, since they couldn't leave work. For better or worse, he wasn't their priority and, you know, you understand, cause you need to put food on the table, but I think it plays a big role on the child's confidence, as they grow up. I think I relate a bit too much, there :S

In ballet, the woman is a ballerina and the male is a danseur. A principal dancer is at the head of the company and dances the principal roles. Large, renowned companies might have 3-4 male and female principals. Prima has nothing to do with gender. The designation “prima” ballerina is just referring to the highest rank in ballet. Primas are in a class of their own. These are your hall of famers.

I mean, I can tell that they support him and care about him, but as a kid, never hearing those things is definitely tough.

It's definitely in direct correlation to his lack of self-esteem and belief in himself.
