You guys crying and misty eyes have me crying 😢 to.I love this show

Nihki

god the reaction to tsuki setting to asahi was so real like so painful but understanding! it was very devastating but i love tanaka's monologue is just amazing and a love letter to average people in any field. beautiful.

A. Saffari

I love Tanaka. He is so relatable as a person and he is so inspirational. He really is the mental MVP. One of my favorite episodes of the series

Bogdan Narušavičius

Thanks for your tears guys. This is pure haikyuu experience that we all love. So. Good.

na

Tanaka is the only player on Karasuno to have played every play of every match to this point

Tanaka is definitely one of the more underrated characters in Haikyuu. For the most of the series he is the generic "wholesome punk" that you see in most anime but seeing that he has his own internal struggles really brings depth to his character. Him having the self awareness to know a mountain of talent separates him from the people the plays alongside/against and still chooses to push past that because not being the best isn't a reason to give up is so inspiring. Love that this epeisode shows that persistence and perseverance pays off.

LEFT!!!!!!!! chills and goosebumps 😍

Bokuto was going through the motions with you guys this episode and I love it. Him realizing that he would be doing as bad if not worse in Tanakas situation is hilarious to me because we never see this level of self awareness from him. His reaction to seeing Tanakas angle swing and getting hyped is really wholesome because Tanaka started working on that swing after seeing bokuto in action. I love my empathic king HEY HEY HEY

P073

I forgot if Tanaka is in the brohouse or lovehouse. Was he LEFTO out?

Much as we all agree that Daichi is the core of the team, Tanaka is the resilience and the main pillar. He's always been on the starting team, he has played every match, he has never been subbed, he has never had an injury to take him out of the match, he has always played complete matches and... I think he is the only one who can say that (not sure about Asahi at the beginning, but there's that).

when the 3 bench 2nd years were saying its okay… its tanaka. them laughing after his sharp angle. voice breaking saying whats wrong with this guy… hes amazing🥹 nail is the coffin for me. man i really thought this episode would get adam the most emotionally😭. kanoka realizing the tanaka is so headstrong meaning she could never get him to fall for her bcuz his mind is set on someone else. truly sad.

So this moment hits me really hard because I've been struggling through the same imposter syndrome in my attempts to find a job. The lack of experience creates self doubt and the self doubt makes it incredibly difficult to do the right thing: take one small step everyday in the right direction. That I think is what's so special about Tanaka. He never falters, never lets up. He does everything the way he's supposed to until it works out, no matter how hard it is or how bad he feels. "Keep trying until it works" is a super power and Tanaka is a genius. Also Kanoka was considering her friend's advice to keep pushing and winning Tanaka over, which is why after witnessing and remembering just how unwavering he is, she realized that she never had a chance if he hadn't wanted to be with her in the first place: he would never give up on his true love.

I remember back in season two when Adam said something about every team needing someone who plays logically and not based on emotions and saying that Tsukki is that player on Karasuno. This episode really showcases that.

Justin Richardson

It's such a small part of this amazing episode but I love how proud Saeko looks of Tanaka

Sylvia ZX

This anime is ridiculous. I never played any sport in a competitive way, yet the emotion parts are so relatable to anyone. Tanaka the Unbreakable

Talosig23

He's in both. Discord has the list.

Adam Story Time®! Adam Story Time®! Man, I re-watched this episode alone a couple weeks ago because the hype just got to me. And MAYBE I wanted to try and get some tears outta the way. Didn't help! Waterworks every time. <3

Marcos C.

I’ve been waiting so long for y’all to get to this episode! Glad Adam liked it and was able to give insight on the coaching side of what he’d do with Tanaka at that point.

P073

Thanks, never been on discord for anything.

Adam before the episode starts: "We haven't seen much Tanaka" Sarah: *stares into the camera* yea we know what's coming

HAHA I had my tissues ready this time! I love Tanaka and this is one of my favorite Haikyuu episodes. We get what's really going through his mind early in the episode (12:52 "Am I just, like...extra lame today?"), but what comes out of his mouth is nothing but positive towards his teammates: "Nice receive!" (to Noya who passed Atsumu's serve that was coming to him), "Nice kill, Daichi-san!" (to Daichi who finished that rally with a swing from the back row). Even though he's internally struggling and doubting himself, we see him continue to support and encourage his teammates through his plays and shout outs. Even though he's feeling small, he doesn't let himself shrink away from his personal battles on the court, either (like Adam said, he doesn't tip and stays aggressive in his plays). When he makes the mental breakthrough to call for the ball again after his consecutive misses (22:06 "What's lame isn't losing the match. It's to be scared of the match!"), he's shut down again as Tsukki passes to Asahi instead. But despite it all, again, he finds it within himself to call for the ball a second time, and he smashes it with that sharp angle he's been working on since the season 2 training camps. I love how it all culminates to that moment T-T. The moments we see between him and Kanoka as kids, too-- he's so great T-T. I'm so happy we got to see this again. Adam's dig into Bokuto at the end while praising Tanaka's mindset also cracked me up lol. I was drinking some water after all the crying and excitement, and that caught me off guard. I nearly spat my water lool. This made me so happy. I'm not really a social media person, and leaving comments online isn't something I'm in the habit of doing, making them pretty sporadic, but your uploads give me so much joy throughout my week. Thank you.

the way Sarah kept staring at us lol like stoppp we know we're about to be hyperventilating in about *checks time* 3 minutes 🤭🤭🤭 anyway.... a beautiful, well-made episode. To me, Tanaka feels like the one character in Karasuno (or even Haikyuu) written in probably the most trope-y (sorry for the lack of a better word) shonen character way: the guy who's too simple-minded that he doesn't know how to give up, obsessed about a girl and gets rejected brutally, sometimes used as the punchline to present his shallowness, etc. But this freakin episode... they make Tanaka feel so powerfully Human, and multidimensional, and layered with profound emotions. Just completely turning around his "simple-mindedness" into this one-of-a-kind emotional intelligence. I'm sooo happy and proud Furudate Sensei and the team did this in the manga and then translated it thoughtfully and with such care into the anime. They really did him justice. "Tanaka does not have an average mindset" thanks for saying this Adam, I will steal this when I have to describe Tanaka

Sarah

This episode will always make me sob 100%

Sarah

Yessssssss!!!! To all of this!!!

Sarah

100%. The build-up, the self-talk, the flashback... it all made that call so powerful 😭

Sarah

The misty eyes from Adam were a huge win, but he really does choose some interesting episodes to really get emotional for haha

Sarah

Yes. That set to Asahi comes across as being very cold, but it was the right decision at that moment

Sarah

Yesss!!! I had to comment on the same thing while we were watching. Tanaka is so full of self-doubt this episode and he is questioning his abilities, etc. but despite all that, he keeps encouraging his teammates and he is presenting himself as being ready to keep going. That is amazing

Sarah

I'm just reading this comment and nodding my head. Yes to all of it!

Adam Schulz

Your comment about looking for a job and feeling like an imposter is so relatable. I started a new small contract with a company 2 weeks ago, and you just see everyone doing their thing and can’t help but think, man I don’t belong here. Stick with it, you will find your groove and people will notice!

HCXWinchester

"My average self, do you really have time to look down like that?" Amazing, amazing quote by Tanaka about life. Such a piece of art, this episode. Thanks for having the best Haikyuu reactions! :)

Trysh Ong

Daichi once did back attack in Shiratorizawa match!

Hi guys I just wanted to ask if y’all going to upload Attack on Titan on YouTube as well
