This episode will always remain one of my favourite episodes in any anime, ever. Tanaka is my inspiration, and from what I can tell, he is to so many people around the world, who are not “gifted”, but are passionate and hardworking enough to make it work (No offence to the gifted people, they have their fair share of challenges to overcome)

Also, I just feel so bad for Kanoka! She realises that Tanaka’s unwavering mindset applies not only to volleyball, but also to his romantic life. She finally understands that he is determined not to give up on the girl ‘he has his heart set on’, which leaves her feeling heartbroken 💔

man i love this episode... tanaka is not usually a fav character type of mine (that would be the bastardy type like oikawa lol) but he is definitely a character that i grew to love dearly. haikyuu has loads of excellent characters but i feel like furudate did something different with tanaka; he is just a real person! i could have went to school with him!

Haikyuu just knows how to make these beautiful relatable moments whenever I’m having that little bit of self doubt in my head I try to think of Tanaka’s mentality here. The visualization of running up those seemingly infinite stairs and realizing you have to make that leap and believe in yourself 🤌🏼

As someone who is basically average on every single “talent” that I got, I completely understand Tanaka 😭😭😭 when I have self doubt or thinking negatively, I try to think about Tanaka’s mindset and cheer myself up! It’s amazing how anime inspired people in real life as well

LEEEEEEEFFFTTTOOOOOOOO This episode ALWAYS makes me cry no matter how many times I watch it 😭😭😭 it’s my favorite moment in the whole anime no contest!! Tanaka was my favorite character before this moment when I first watched Haikyuu, but after this episode he was ABSOLUTELY my favorite character period, end of story!!

It's in episodes like these when you see where all the budged went, hehe. Tanaka's moments were so well illustrated 🥰🥰🥰. I think the magic of this moment, and many Haikyuu moments, really, is that they apply to most people, regardless of whether they do sports or not. Who hasn't ever felt deflated in their endeavours? So many relatable moments. As for Hinata, I think he's just so in tune with everybody's feelings, while being genuine at the same time, that he instinctively goes to them. There is a little illustration, somewhere, of Kenma and Hinata, and Kenma is all tired, and flat, and he goes and hugs Hinata, and you can see Kenma's battery recharging, and I thought that was such an accurate illustration.

There are so many relatable moments throughout the show, but this one hits so hard!! I couldn't help myself with the looks. Adam kept talking about stuff, and I was like, "Just wait." 😏

And his self-talk throughout and the flashback to when he was so upset with himself for not calling for the ball... ugh the whole thing is amazing 😭

The writing in this anime is actually incredible. The way they have been able to create such relatable, heart-felt moments for such a wide group of people is amazing

It is the main reason for its success, isn't it? I use Hinata as inspiration all the time. When I feel low or think all my efforts are in vain because I don't see results, I always tell myself 'what would Hinata do?' lol. Though, realistically, you could say that of most Haikyuu characters. None of them would ever give up.

Whose cutting the dang onions 😭😭 this is an all time favorite episode of all animes. Tanaka is just that guy. So relatable to so many of us. Doubt takes over the future of so many before anything even happens. And he shows what perseverance and belief really means. Love this. Glad we got some misty eyes at least from Adam even though most of us here are choking still. 🙃
