Fun fact! when Frieren killed Draht, the demon boy at the beginning of the episode, she used the word "Ippiki" which is typically used to count animals instead of humans. Loving the reaction guys! keep em coming!

He was one of the seven but he's been sealed for the last 80 to 100 years or so before frieren killed him with fern.

In Stark's defense, I think it was magic rope :P

If I remember correctly, Eren does that too when he refers to Titans

I want to validate Adam's comment really quickly here. As I have grown more mature as an engineer, a problem solver and a thinker I have felt the gap shrink between myself and those I consider competent, but those I consider geniuses are still fundamentally seeing the world in a completely different way. James Maxwell developed a very particular mental model of how electricity and magnetism manifest which help him form the breakthrough equations he's famous for. But then we also have to be careful with language. The term "genius" seems to imply qualities like "good", "correct", "excellence" when the qualitative differentiator Adam and myself are describing is merely "different". Having a different point of view sometimes grants you the privilege of insight, which may look like "genius" to others.

I'm actually not sure if Qual was one of the Seven, but i think no? Also, yes he was taken out pretty easily now, but you have to remember that 80 years ago, the ENTIRE party couldn't beat him. And they beat the Demon King (albeit with a probable few years of difference during a 10 year journey). Frieren (and humanity) really just did the most with those 80 years he was stagnant.

Qual wasn't one of the specific "Seven Sages of Destruction", he was just a really high-ranking demon general who became known for creating Zoltraak. Also it's really interesting that demons seem to name really strong people "__ the __" like Aura the Guillotine, Qual the Elder Sage of Corruption, and now Frieren the Slayer! Which is such a sick name haha

The names are pretty epic. Thanks for the clarification. I couldn’t remember if he was one of the 7.

Yeah I tend to think of genius as something you don’t really work towards. You either are or you are not. Now you can choose what do to with that ability. But that’s how I tend to think about it. I liked your explanation.
