To me, this song is the quintessential duet. Both artists get to flaunt their respective flamboyantly colorful peacock feathery voices, yet neither dominates or feels the need to outshine the other in order to do so. And those harmonies in relation to the instruments— mmmm! It’s delicious! I totally agree with you, it really is perfectly executed.

There's a lot of care and respect between these two very talented artistes. It's just humbling to see Lady Gaga crying being grateful because it's not easy to compromise with a 50-50 win. To me, this collaboration is a 100-100 win for them both. Thank you for your effort colour coding and neatly indicating the chords so fellow musical aficionados have better understanding and appreciation for this song too! Hope you're doing okay and thank you again for this vid, Joel~~💜

This song is now going on my playlist and stuck in my head 😊

I just love seeing you get so excited about the content you’re breaking down!! First as you’re pointing out various things while watching the video, and then during your break down. It always helps to viewers want to know more and to pay more attention to what’s going on. I know it does for me, at least. They do both sound amazing in this song and look great in the video!! The only problem I have with it is her cigarette. Especially while she’s singing. It’s never a good look for anyone, imho. Their matching outfits are nice too. I can’t put a finger on the time period/era that it reminds me of…same with Gaga’s wig. Although the wig is kinda reminiscent of a’70’s and early’80’s Dolly Parton. Gaga pulls it off well. When they start singing, um, belting together…it’s soooo beautiful!! Their harmonies are *chef’s kiss*!! Thank you so much for sharing another fun breakdown video with us!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 **Disclaimer** I’m not trying to sound like “I’m better than anyone” with what I said about the cigarette. That’s just my personal opinion and preference.

I love this song so much. Huge Bruno fan anyway but both of their harmonies are stellar in this. I got as excited as you did with this one!

Thank you for the early access Joel! Can't wait to watch this! And I'm on vacation til the 8th💖

Thank u, thank u, thank u 🙂! I'm smiling from ear to ear, this was just pure bliss 🥰🎶 I'm happy that this song has grown on u, since it's such an ear candy with Bruno and Gaga 🙂 I loved hearing u sing those parts of the song, u sound great 🥰🎶 I like that u talked more about the drums and also the singing theory (how u would sing certain parts etc)! Very interesting stuff! I didn't know that one can buy songs like that and cool that u do that 😎 Kinda respectful thing to do towards other artists. And I agree that smoking is disgusting. It does have that certain old timey esthetics in it though, but I think it was a bit unnecessary on this video since it already had the clothes, venue etc to create the atmosphere... I hope u have a nice rest of the week 🙂

Hayley

Oooh, will give this a watch after work. Love this song 🎵 ❤️

Okay, seeing Joel enjoying this song so much made me keep some not really positive thoughts to myself:) thanks for sharing and for provoking me into thinking about commercial part of art, have a good day/night!

Cas

The harmonies and the belting were the things I've always liked about this song. Keep on doing these breakdowns please. I think it has been over 2 years since you've worn a striped shirt. Stepping out of your comfort zone looks good on you.

I might be wrong, but to me it’s the 70s vibe:)

YES!! I was thinking that too!! When Joel sang parts of the song, showing us how he would do it. He sounds amazing as well!! **But don’t tell him…we don’t want his head to swell.** Lols 😜 Also, I don’t think he used auto tune on himself. Honestly, I don’t think he needs it!! 🫠🥰

Rainbowz Grace

Yesss I’ve been waiting for this! These two together are just an absolute powerhouse, it makes me and my band feel pathetic whenever we try to play it 😭 The drums are SO fun to play OMG!! When I got the hang of it, istg I was freaking out silently because it’s just so SCRUMPTIOUS 😂 Especially that part right before the chorus (“so I’mma love you every night like it’s the last night…”) ughhh too good!!! We’re performing this on the 31st too, so hopefully I don’t end up losing this enthusiasm out of trauma 😂

Gayle

The dream reality of the singing style. It's just the ultimate desire of living with love that fills all the right places in one's heart, mind, and soul. It feels like a dream. A dream that everyone wished to live. I really enjoy this song ......despite my aversion to 'Lady Gaga'. IDC how alledgely she's awesome, she's like to me how Joel feels about Pink. I will never warm to anyone who calls her fans monsters. Buuuut this song is soooooo lit!!!! Thank you for another such a fun video. Right on point ✌️😂❤️, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Melissa Rogers

Joel, did you put auto tune on yourself in your singing parts of this video?! Just curious…you sound great either way, ngl 😁

Hayden (Cheeseface)

I can’t wait to watch this! This will probably be the song for the first dance at my wedding actually!😆

I didn't consider autotune, but I was also thinking about how talented he is — absolute pitch!

Shauna

When you first said you didn’t care for the song I was so confused. I had heard the harmonies before and thought ‘are we listening to the same song?’ Lol. You have come to your senses!

Dorie

There’s something about this song that makes it sound like a Bond theme song. The vocals on this are amazing and you pointed our so many little nuances to the song. You sounded pretty amazing yourself. Thanks for the breakdown on this one. 💕

Oh yeah, I agree, he is incredibly talented!! I was just saying that he sounds great and that I don’t think he needs auto tune with his voice. I love his singing voice, it’s beautiful!! 🥰🥰

Bua (mintteafortwo)

Joel, when you were concentrating on the drums and went into an intense focused gaze, it makes me want to hear you play the drums even more! Also, I didn't know you had to type out all of the chords yourself!?! Always thought the program did that for you 🤯 Appreciated this breakdown, your passion shines when you talk about the things that you love. Keep up the good work and take good care now :)

Clair (Teampanda)

I was gutted when your first reaction was that it was lyrically "meh" because unlike many songs it doesn't need to be wordy to get the point across. I love Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic and I think it's because Bruno in many ways reminds me of Stevie Wonder in the 70s. It's given Lady GaGa a beautiful platform into 1970s soul/Motown that really suits her voice. I'm glad you nerded out on it because musically I think it's beautiful. I get goose bumps at the exact same moment as you!!

michelle

aw this put me in such a good mood after watching a sad series finale tonight lol i have to admit i was also kinda unsure about this song the first time i heard it but am firmly team love it by now too! their vocals go so crazy well together and, like you said, that bass!! love!! also semi off topic (sorry lol) but every time you mention the open vowels thing i just think that you’d probably enjoy the korean singer Kang Daesung, he has such a rich, big, beautiful voice!

Giovanna Garbino

Crazy to know how much work you have to do for these breakdowns, you make it look so easy. I really appreciate it!

LOLS!! It’s been a while since you’ve said that in your videos. 😁 But from what I heard, with my _untrained_ ears, you sounded great, Joel. Unless you’re talking about the parts when you were going up higher in your registry/range…well then, yes, you did get a LiTtLe BiT sQuEaKy. But the parts in the middle of your registry sounded beautiful, to me. Not PiTcHy. 😁
