Now for the update -  I opened up my massive (!) todo list for the first time in a bit this morning and realized there were some pressing things I needed to do. So today I've collected information and letter to renew my US visa so I can stay here (big important thing I've been putting off), caught up on ~100 emails (some of which were about the songwriting course I'm making), did laundry, booked flights for an upcoming trip, restarted singing practice after wisdom teeth removal wounds have ~kinda healed and so on. 

But yeah, that meant no filming today for me :P I did however but some painters' tape to stick my blackout curtain closer to the wall to avoid blue daytime light to enter my room when I'm filming, messing up everything. So I guess that's something.

Here's to admin 😅 I've said it before, but TOMORROW I will start filming properly.

Let me know if you ever end up in situations where admin and upkeep keeps you from getting to the core of what you want to do! :P

Hehe admin stuff is my job, so for me random zoom meetings take me away from the work I need to get done. Glad ya got a lot of that kinda stuff on your to do list-outta the way. video and music time now, yay!

Hmm...when I said I thought you were avoiding SOMETHING... 😂 I was right, admin is an evil necessity, especially if it means you don't get deported! This is why sometimes it's better to hire an assistant (or a family member) to monitor incoming information, it's too easy to ignore or put off for another day! I'm pretty good at this kind of stuff but my brother had to have my mum for back up, otherwise his business would have tanked in the first few months!

I feel this. I went through a phase in lockdown where I had a little notebook where I wrote down every tiny thing I did that brought me closer to my goals, because otherwise it just felt like I was spinning in circles. There’s something great about taking inventory at the end of the day, especially when you do a lot of small or boring stuff on a given day. Makes me think I should start again!

Good thing that’s you’ve started doing things that have to be done anyway 😉Since I’ve become the supervisor at my work, I’ve started being more organised in general I guess because I have to be that one at work 😅 But I still like a high quality procrastination 😆

Project mgmt, yo…I have to track my work in three places (for now) and however long that takes I need to make it up with actual work time. Hope you have the peace of mind now that the admin stuff you did is out of the way… least until it piles up again lol

I used to always do the things that had to be done in the next few days first so I could save blocks of time for the big projects. Keeping up on the admin saved time for the more interesting stuff. Worked for me. Did you finally get rid of your friend the couch bucket? I think they overstayed their welcome.

I have "To do list" books (you can buy on Amazon) that I've used for years and had my teams using too when I was a School Manager. People often don't like to make lists or feel that writing it out takes up more time and yes in the beginning it can be overwhelming. But sometimes being able to tick off the smallest most mundane thing on your list can make you feel better, like you are actually achieving things on the crappiest of days. I find it cathartic to look over the list at the end of the week and see progress that would otherwise have been swallowed up by the "priorities" that never stop hounding you!

Don’t keep putting off renewing your Work Visa, Joel!! We don’t want you getting deported!! Yeah I really like to see it in front of me and be able to put a line through it! It also helps me reprioritize the next week because when I carry forward tasks I can physically see what I didn't do and know it has to be done. I'm good at filing things away in my brain in the cabinet called "ew.. I don't like that!" So having a written reminder forces me to deal with it lol 😆

Happy to hear that your wounds are somewhat healed 😊 That unopened to do list sounds scary. To me it seems like there's always something, work, laundry etc on the way when wanting to do something I would actually enjoy doing 😅 Usually at work I get some idea in my head what I would like try out, but after work I have no energy to get to it. Hey, you were productive and that's a win! Never diminish what you do. Go at your own pace and be kind to yourself. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with ask the things that need to get done. I just prioritize and then if I need to, I drop things that I don't need in my life. It's easier said than done. Right now, I definitely feel like I'm drowning - I had to literally in less than 1 week take over an entire art classroom and I have to come up with lessons that match the curriculum. And all while having only a $500 yearly budget for over 700 kids. I honestly don't know how to make that work but I just focus on one day at a time and know it's all going to work out somehow. I hope you know that we're all rooting for you! You've got this!

Sometimes you have to knock out some small stuff to make room in your brain for the big stuff. Sounds like it was at least a productive Monday. Some days I end the day wondering exactly what I got done. 😜 Here’s to a fun day of filming. I’ll think of you as I’m sitting in meeting after endless meeting questioning all my life choices that got me to where I am. Ha! 💕

Definitely sounds like you were super productive and getting to what actually needed to done. Enjoy the massive weight being lifted and hopefully you’re feeling a bit more relaxed about the other stuff now! I’m in a permanent state of productivity paralysis right now so I always get excited to hear that people are actually getting tasks done (that’s including fighting for another ADHD assessment so I think that says it all! 😅) Main plan for today is going to the park so my son can burn off steam before his return to nursery tomorrow so we can actually spend some quality time together 😊

Ah, never ending to do lists. I took a week off last week, thinking I'd have time to do fun stuff, working on projects. But in the end I mostly did just the ongoing boring stuff like admin, laundry, cleaning. Ugh. But that said, without a to do list I won't be doing much at all. I get so passive and lost. 😔 Your day sounds very productive to me. Hope you'll find time to film soon.

A productive Monday puts the whole week in motion in a nice way, and I would argue that getting the admin tasks done at the beginning of the week leaves the rest of it open for more creative stuff that also needs to get done. It's almost the end of Tuesday for me, and I didn't have a productive day yesterday, so I am trying to get back on schedule, but I know it probably won't happen.
