Godz - I feel you're not being respectful, please keep your language and attitude civil. This is your only warning. Critique is fine - and I'm happy to address any critique if it's presented in a civil manner.

Sofía Reyes

Hi, Joel! Your last video was really fun to watch. Thanks for your "gif" to us, the patrons. I think it will be fun to explore too. Love to hear from you more often. Have a nice day and keep up with the good work!

Elle Quinn

Thank you Joel as always for the new video! I loved it & thought it was so creative and unique :) you spend so much time working on these for us that your work ethic is actually inspiring to me (as I love to work a lot too.) The course looks super interesting & I’ll be sure to check it out and do something with it when I have the time :) I’m so glad to see that you’re happy, you’re actually glowing and that makes me smile :) I love you also, so thank you for being inspirational to me. There’s no one quite like you. Keep up the good work, stay happy, stay healthy & of course energised ❤️ - Elle :)

Jess Haggstron

Hey Joel, im glad youre back. Cant wait to see your new stuff🤍 We are always here supporting you no matter what. Take care. 🥰 And Have a great August btw.

Mari
>>114177657

I was trying to be civil, but this is just not what any of us expected. We just want answers man

Mari
>>114177657

And really? you're gonna warn me but let stephanie go on a full on breakdown in the comment previously? LOL k

Sofie G

❤️Very generous of you, Joel! Thank you, sensei 🙏

Becky Lorion

Absolutely loved the video, my favorite you’ve done yet! While I have absolutely no use for this course lol I’ll check it out …you had me at ‘free’ 👌😂 So glad to see you back ❤️

Jen 🦙

Thanks for the freebie Joel, much appreciated! 😊 Super glad to see and hear that you’re doing much better, great to see that you’ve got your spark back! 🤘🏻 Looking forward to seeing what you’ve got planned going forward 🙂

Lump

Thank you for the freebie. Is there any correlation between so selfish and just for you? In particular “I supported you through everything” beginning the chorus in so selfish and “I supported you gave you everything” in just for you.

Birdie Cantin

For such an awesome video on great song!

Vikki

Hell ya free stuff!

Shauna

I would sign up for it but i’m not really a song writer etc 😅 but that’s really nice to give it to patrons for free :)

Mari

Alright can we have a discussion about it privately then?

MediocreAtBest

Free.99!? That's very generous of you c: Not really my thing, but I'm sure many are excited for your music making course(s). Thanks again for another banger song to add to my playlists. Please keep popping in from time to time! I heard Patreon is gonna axe the lens feature, but the short & sweet update posts are nice too.

Rainbowz Grace

Really, really enjoyed the video, although as I said in multiple comments, some of those face morphs realllyyyy traumatised me 😂 I did already pay for the course but it’s getting late over here so if any details are needed then I’ll sort that tmrw lolzers :D Thanks for doing what ya do Joel ❤️

Lianne Conroy

I liked your video. I love the song. But I do have concerns over being able to "steal" someone's voice and face. Not sure how I feel about it.

Roomie
>>114178478

Feel free to voice your concerns here in the comments in a civil manner. If you feel you can't be part of the community that way, I can refund you for the last two months of Patreon and say that I've appreciated your support here as a whole and end it here, which would be sad but understandable :)

emy

I mean… I would take a freebie if you want to do a refund. 🙉 That’s beyond generous. I’m getting so much out of the course. Just know that you’ve got me hooked on whatever other courses you add in the future!

Mari
>>114178478

That's not the issue at all, I just want to understand your thought process behind this and why you think it's a smart business move because I'm very confused

Jessistache_73

Wow! How generous of you! And to give refunds to patrons who've already purchased? You don't see that everyday. Thank you for being wonderful you, Joel :) P.S. I hope you are doing well ❤

CK DeP

Yayy, you'll able to see what I've been up to or have written on the Patreon community tabs lol haha! Lowkay tho idk why I'm kinda scared haha coz of my video ideas / suggestions I posted on Pat community tab idk if you've seen that or not lol let me know what ya think of it. 😀 @Roomie

Dorie

Really love the new song and had (am having) fun watching the vid and all those face morphs. I have to be honest, watching it really makes me want to see the you version of it. 💕

CK DeP

@Roomie

Roomie
>>114178643

I understand that. It's really an issue awaiting legislation - while I think my use of it is moral and doesn't pretend to be any of the singers in question (it's clear it's me), uses where you pretend to be a particular person or try to fool people is not ok imo. I am fully expecting to take this video down in 6 months-1 year once laws change, and I'm ok with that. For now, I think I was able to make a really cool piece of art, and I understand it can't last forever. As far as the course, it focuses on applications of modeling your own or your collaborator's voices for music making purposes. The voice cloning I see mainly as a bit of a gimmick.

Brandt

What, I can’t believe this, so freaking generous of you! And loved your video, really was a perfect spin off from your own voices videos 😊. And also, can’t wait to see what is to come.

Lianne Conroy
>>114178643

Your use was fine. It was just for fun and I did enjoy it. I worry about other people with less wholesome uses in mind.

Dannielle O'Neill

I'm happy to see YOUR face! 🙂 Fun story: "So Selfish" is obv a banger...we know...but when my 8.5 y.o. son is now singing it and asked the name of the song. Ik This means he'll be asking for it later.

Mari
>>114178478

I saw it but it doesn't answer the question of why you think it's a good business endeavor when you said "I understand it can't last forever" and "I expect to take the video down in 6 months to a year once laws change". That sounds like it's not really profitable long term once laws change? idk I'm failing to see why it's a good investment and to spend so much time on it when it's not guaranteed. eta that it seems like you get that it can be problematic in the future so also adds to my confusion I feel like I have to disclaim myself that I'm not hating, just wanting to have a discussion and I apologize for getting heated at times 😅

Alle Engdahl

That’s a pretty nice Patreon perk…thanks 😎

CK DeP

When I click link (using my mobile phone) site says price is marked down to $49.99 & under it says due now and add in my email. If I do that would I be charged? Or is it still free? @Roomie

Stephanie Bruso

I will check the course out since it’s free why not? Maybe it will help me understand the AI better. I had a dream about you. You held an impromptu concert and sing “Numb” which was fun. I’m planning on making a fan made video for today. I’m very excited about it. I think you are really going to like it. I’m so excited that you are to post updates more often. I love talking to you. That’s the best of my day.

Roomie
>>114180642

The price should go down to 0, if it doesn’t try opening on a computer maybe

Birdie Cantin
>>114178478

Sorry to chime in. I know you're trying to talk to Roomie but why does it have to be about business and money? Why can't it be just about making art and enjoying new technology?

Melinda Young

Loved your video. So happy you are back.

Mari
>>114178478

Because it's something he's actually selling to us? And created an entire business around?

Roomie
>>114178478

The course is not focused voice swapping as I wrote in the comment I asked you to read :) The tech will not go away, and I will be making many other courses on general music making, singing etc getting in experts in different fields. So that’s the business side of things

Roomie
>>114178478

@birdie you hit it on the head. I got excited about something new that felt like magic, and I had some of my most fun times ever making something with it

Mari
>>114178478

I did read it as I quoted directly from it, but it's not clear on the course page as it says "learn to transform voices and faces using ai" which sounds like it would include voice swapping and I know you said it's a bit of a gimmick too but why advertise it that way if it's not included? but there's also the issue of using someone else's likeness too, not just their voice I'm just looking at it from a legal point of view and feel like it it most likely end up being more trouble than what it's worth imo It just feels you're really pushing the ai stuff opposed to your actual expertise in music and content creation and that's what threw a lot of us. I think it would have been better received if you didn't go so hard in the ai direction in your initial announcement.

♠️ Aslyn Jobry ♠️

Woke up to see a notification on phone and I went on to check... Oh wowww... A birthday gift! Belated actually. Lol. Thank you very much for being so generous and sweet to us~~ I've been enjoying So Selfish A LOT. The music video was an interesting idea. AI has some sorting out to do with regards ethical and intellectual property infringement. But I get why you want to tap into this trend. I'll watch the course videos to find out your views and intentions on using this AI technology later. So happy to see you refreshed and smiling. Thanks again for your sweetness. 💜

CK DeP
>>114180842

Oooo fan project!?! Oooo, could I please get involved in it? :)

Airyckah Lane

Thank you for gifting this to us. Hopefully seeing it in action will help make things make a lil more sense of where this plans to pan out. I think we can read your excitement with this, and that always comes across. I’m scared of the pathway that AI can lead to, but reading some of these replies and your willingness to respond helps a lot. Are you planning on releasing a non-AI version music video of so selfish?

emy
>>114178478

I hope it’s ok that I comment to add to Birdie’s point. I think we aren’t really entitled to know the ins and outs of his business decisions. I know sometimes he shares glimpses, and it’s interesting info when offered, but ultimately I think asking him about his art and asking him to explain his business strategy are two very different things

CK DeP
>>114180642

Okay, I think it says 0 on my phone & aswell on my laptop (I just wanna be sure it's actually real & I'm not gonna be scared or something lol) 😅 coz some of those sites can be risky or promise you things but then they get it or there's always a price. So since it says 0 , do I still "purchase" & I won't get charged? @Roomie

Mari
>>114178478

I wasn't asking for a full blown strategy just why he feels focusing on this like it's the next big thing, it's weird to me

Stephanie Bruso
>>114180842

Sorry this isn’t project someone can be involved in. I will dm you and tell what it’s about if you want.

Roomie
>>114182587

Maybe! I don't know how it actually holds up without the face swapping 😅 We shot it for that purpose so it doesn't really have a lot going on outside of that

Mari
>>114182587

I'm sure it will hold up just fine 😉 I mean, there have been far worst music videos released by reputable artists even

Airyckah Lane
>>114182587

Couldn’t you possibly use the unaltered faced and voice (obviously)… but then use the AI to maybe alter the surroundings? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤔

Franceska

Hej Joel, it’s great to see you happy! Thank you for the unexpected gift - I appreciate you as a teacher :D So Selfish video was a big surprise ngl , I enyojed it so much! And yeah, second version with your face&voice only would be awesome. Maybe this time try Daniel or Chance with your AI-face hahah

Franceska

And I love So Selfish since I’ve heard it for the very first time - your first production bits, probably spring 2022??

Mari

Again, just want to apologize for my asd brain wanting to make sense of things and understand where I can get a bit carried away trying to do that 😅 I wasn't trying to personally attack you and I'm sure you know that 💛

Teagan Ostrow44

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Welcome back

CK DeP

Yayyy, I did it!!! I'm in!!! Costed me absolutely nothing!! 💯 👏😆👍 So what do I do now lol haha 🤣

xtina 🖤
>>114182587

or we can learn his face swap skills from the course and put his face back on ..jk :)

Sugary Magnolia

Thanks Joel! We've been experimenting with some AI in our business and it's interesting to see the potential for use in other industries. (Ours is boring procedure writing, not creative or entertaining.) It's kind of exciting-slightly-scary to see how fast technology is advancing in these ways! Whether or not you keep on this track forever, it's always fun to learn and play with new ways to create art. No effort is a waste of time as long as you're learning and having fun along the way! Life would be boring without trying new things.

Bookdragon 43

Love your song-- So Selfish and your music video for it!!😊👏💟 Thanks so much for the update, love your creativity and excitement for your future projects and music.

Luna
>>114185914

Oh, another asd fella here? I read your discussion. I know exactly what you mean about your brain trying to make sense of things. 🙃 It's kinda pain that there's such a gap between the fact that you really want to understand something or think something is just illogical and the fact that nobody owes you an answer... 😅 We just have to be careful not to take others decisions personally. :) I hope you are ok after this communication problems... 🧡

Dannielle O'Neill
>>114182587

I had this conversation/said it SEVERAL times I think that video might even be just authentically. The song is a banger. It's less jarring to hear it the way we know it (maybe that's just bc I have privilege in here as a pat lmao). The faces changing is impressive as a tech thing, but again, jarring if what you're aiming for is to focus on the vibe to go with the song. BUT the flow of the video itself, visually...it was great.

Mari
>>114185914

I appreciate it and it's something I've embraced for the most part. It's hard sometimes when people misinterpret what you mean 🥲 I try to not let it get to me, though

xtina 🖤

thank you Joel for the course! Ai courses are not something I would have looked into on my own, but I’ll definitely check it out because your excitement is contagious. The video is interesting for sure, even tho to me ai face swaps are too uncanny (which i’m glad it is that way, i’d rather it feel “off” than too real, b/c that’s scarier lol). anyhow, you’re really creative and i’m always so impressed by how easy and fast you learn things, or how simple you make it look! missed you..idk if that is weird lol, but your uploads, updates, & music are just part of my life now lol :). Glad you are doing well! & I’ve been listening to ‘so selfish’ non stop- fire song, one of your best! 🖤

CK DeP

Heyyyy Joel, I just came back from watching the video courses so far! Just needed that one video but it doesn't come our until August 4th haha then my course would be completed! 😀 Also I did leave an post comment thingy on that page site like on the "last" video course lesson idk if you see it on there but I kinda wrote a "long" comment lol haha , enjoy if ya see it! 😀 Also VERY IMPRESSED SO FAR!!!! 👏 👍 @Roomie

Luna
>>114185914

communication = end boss Maybe that's why it's one of my special interests. (Which doesn't mean I mastered it 🥲) :D

Mari
>>114185914

it really is and I've gotten much better in my adult life but there is still certain weird NT social etiquette I simply do not understand

Miriam

Aww thank you for the free gift!! I will definitely have to check out the course!! Also, really enjoyed the So Selfish video, such a creative concept and I can definitely tell a lot of thought and work went into it!

JustSomeJK

Did I wake up to a Christmas morning 😁 Thanks for the gift 🙂 Gotta check it out, even though I probably won't need it to anything, but I'm intrigued! I didn't expect that kind of a video for So Selfish when u said u are going to make one, but it was really cool! Must have taken a lot of work especially outdoors with lights and shadows. Really creative way to use AI. Your original face and voice is still the best though 🙂 You never get boring, keeping us on our toes and bringing new stuff for us to surprise us, nice 🙂 I can see u doing well with educating people with ur experience, knowledge and personality, so I wish u success with the courses! Love seeing u that happy and excited! It was like a triple espresso for this too early morning 😁 Goodnight 😊💙

Adina

That’s really nice of you, and it’s a pleasure getting to see your face without the AI filters 😁 Based on the title I wasn’t expecting the video to be as entertaining as it was, and the song is so catchy. I noticed that recently you tend to do shorter videos, do you intend to keep going in that direction on the main channel? I can see that you are interested in the creative stuff over the commentary, but if you intend to make courses out of the process behind the final product I think you will end up with only short videos on youtube.

Helga 🦊

Thank you for sharing the course for free with us (you’ve definitely surprised me by doing this) 😯 Even though all those Al face swaps make me feel very uncomfortable, I will still watch the lessons whenever I can find the time because I like to learn something new. Keep it up, Joel! And thanks again.

Helga 🦊
>>114208139

Also it’s nice to hear that you feel a lot happier and energized! And imho none of the feedbacks (positive or negative) should actually affect that. Take care ✌🏼

Bua (mintteafortwo)

Congratulations on the course launch, Joel! I'm relatively new to your channel and music. I've only discovered your channel a little bit before Christmas last year (I know, where have I been right? 😅) You've outdone youself this time with the new vid! It is indeed *very interesting* and a little bit weird as claimed 😆 This is my first time anticipating a new song release as a fan which is super exciting 😊 So Selfish has such emotionally heavy lyrics. I particularly like the Acapella version as we can hear all the details you put in vocally. Great stuff 👍🏼 As for the updates, I like reading your little updates on here. It feels more intimate haha, but please do update us through whichever channels you see fit. Anyways, welcome back and let’s go~~!!💪🏼💪🏼

Elli

Nice gesture for the patreons Joel. Appreciate updates as well. Best wishes 🎶🎶

Jureth

Hello Joel ! Thank you for the update 😊 I am happy you are enjoying what you are doing at the moment and feeling energized ! I really loved last video it was really interesting and also thank you for the course that is so kind of you ! I am exited for what is coming, have a beautiful day ☀️

Gayle

Joel, grateful for the opportunity. Have to think about it, the concept is truly innovative. Taking the saying,"walk a mile in another's shoes." To another level. Thank you 😘😘❤️❤️

JustSomeJK

Just finished watching the course, thanks again for gifting it to us 🙂 That was interesting to see how it works! And really cool and fast course that gets one started quickly. Definitely would be fun to play with that 😆 Don't have microphone or any recorded evidence of my singing though (thankfully 😝), so I guess I would just have to play with readymade models 😁 It would be really interesting to see if u could find someone who honestly can't sing to sing for you and you would do all the tricks on it to see how good you could get it to sound like, video idea maybe 🤔😁 Or maybe I'm the only weirdo who would find that interesting 😅 Anyways, crazy how much technology has improved and to where it can still go 😃 Have a nice day 😊

Alle Engdahl

I was using my phone, when it clicked the link he posted it took me right away to the checkout with the discount applied. You also have to make an account - I believe I was promoted to do that right after I checked out

Mona

Thank you so much, Joel, what a sweet gesture 🧡I can't wait to go through the video(s), not sure what I can use it for but it'll surely be fun to learn something new! You genuinely look happy and excited about this and the upcoming projects, and I'm so glad! 🧡

emy
>>114248729

I don’t know if you will find this information to be useful or cursed 🤔 but the Easy GUI has a ‘record’ button so you can sing straight into your computer if you don’t have an audio file. It’s not as good but it’s still pretty good! Earlier I was getting Rick Astley’s voice to repeat after me (speaking of weirdos, I am definitely one 😂)

Shauna

Ah f it. I’m curious. Gonna get it lol

Roomie
>>114188193

totally! I don't see myself falling into AI entirely, but I'm interested in different approaches to make creativity more effective - leading to more amazing art not held back by technical skills or time intensive tasks :)

Roomie
>>114207834

The idea is to make longer youtube videos too - I have some exciting ideas that are already in the works :)

Roomie
>>114246538

try reaching out to kajabi, who are my course platform, or try signing up again with another email :)

JustSomeJK
>>114248729

Thanks a lot emy for the tip 🙂 I'm totally clueless when it comes to all those programs, I would need a list of all of them with information on what one use it for and which ones are free and which ones are the best for whatever purpose, because there seems to be so many that one needs 😅 If u have a tip for how to not cringe every time when hearing my own voice recorded, I would be forever grateful 😆 It sounds like u have had a great time playing with voices 🙂 What did u make Rick say 😁? Oh and nice to hear that I'm not the only weirdo 😁

emy
>>114248729

I share your tech overwhelm JK! I know some people enjoy the technology itself, but I’m more like ‘fuck, if I want to do the fun thing I guess I have to figure out how my goddamn computer works.’ ⛈️ Audacity is fun because you can play with it like a toy pretty much right away. Joel links to it in the course - it’s a free software. It kinda looks like an old school tape recorder and you can record stuff or import audio files from your computer. Then you use the menus at the top to manipulate the sounds. It’s really powerful but it’s also really user friendly. Definitely recommend playing with it if you have some time! For the cringing, I have no solutions. If anyone else has any advice I wanna know too! I just keep cringing 😂 and honestly, I would WAY rather listen to myself sing than talk. When I have to listen to myself talk I DIE ☠️ For Rick, I mostly just made him sing little bits of songs, 🎶Emy is a cool dude🎶 stuff like that

Rl8Si5Ye2Vt1aJ

Thank you Joel i can make you say I love cotton eye joe now or make you speak average spanish 😸😸😸

JustSomeJK
>>114248729

Yeah I so agree with ur comment about technology emy! It's great when it works and it allows u to do cool stuff, but it's not a passion of mine 😅 I hate it at times with a passion when it fails to work though 😁 I hope I find time to play around with Audacity and the others, it does seem like a lot of fun 😊 Emy is a cool dude sounds like a fun song 😁 For some reason it brought to my mind that Aerosmith song Dude looks like a lady 😆 Have a fun day, lets keep on cringing 😁

Marioni

Oh noes, I'm too late. Only had time to watch your updates today, so I missed out on the course. Too bad. Really enjoyed the AI video, although it was a bit creepy as well!
