Greetings, patrons! Hot off the presses for once in my life, this video comes out for you guys the day the game releases because I got access to it like a month ago. Thanks, Zane! If you ever wanted the YouTube equivalent of Attention Deficit Disorder, have I got a video for you! We've got X-Slaying, we've got existential freakouts, we've got a rundown on the career of Jonny Lee Miller, references to Uncle Frank, and so much more! This video was a blast to make. Fun from start to finish. I can't explain exactly why. Maybe something to do with reflecting on the energy of this game and how I lived through the exact time, place, and culture it exists in. And because it goes weird places. Weird. Places.Boltgun video soon, probably sooner than you expect, since I've been editing it at the same time I was working on this. This game is a certified fever dream. I have to take breaks every couple levels, because it’s genuine jank-emulation overload. I don’t know if I love it, but there’s things to love in it.

I kind of agree. I feel like there's a lot of interest in the storytelling potential, what with the meta narrative of Zane's character, etc. But I feel, as a shooter, it doesn't really pick up until the last few levels and in general, it feels hard to criticise. Since it'll forever have that "it's supposed to be jank" on its side. I dunno.

Thought I was seeing things but I'm not. End of first scene with Mevin shows a flash of the Fun Zone's sign in Italian for like 3/4th of a second, then reverts to English. It's weird.

Having finished it - bonus levels included - and explored the in-universe Zane Twitter account a bit, I’ve concluded you just have to take it as the high-level-shitpost-with-serviceable-gameplay that it is. Trying to judge it on its own merits is virtually an exercise in futility.
