Morning all! Yesterday we were sweeping up; today - you guessed it- we're sweeping down.

We're going to be working with the same arpeggio shapes as Day 24, moving up though the C major scale, but this time descending through the arpeggios.

Tab can be found below.

See you tomorrow for Day 26!

Sounds more like Django Reinhardt than shredding 😄

NB

Yep ... like it. What goes up can also go down of course. I am getting to get the 7th arpeggio sound nicely in my ear. Great stuff.

Yes, anything like this is also good from an ear training perspective - getting those important sounds into your head

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes absolutely, mentioned gypsy jazz yesterday and it's certainly a feature the Django style.

Charles Cluck

Can you point us to a song lesson that covers a tune using these sweep techniques ? I like the sound, don’t have an immediate application for it, but willing to learn.

Dave Knowles

That's good. Shredding is just a lot of notes. Takes some skill, but IMO not musical. Save it for the club.

Dave Knowles

As my jazz teacher told me years ago, the best way to learn (jazz in that case) is to learn songs. The reason today's music has moved away from guitar solos is that they became boring

Peter Healy

Day 25 I'm struggling with this sort of sweep playing. Oh well maybe these are for the future. Cheers Pete

Boyd Anderson

Great lessons Adrian, really enjoying them. Just a question regarding technique on the sweep picking (up and down). On the Min7 chords, in terms of fingering, it's obviously ring, middle, index, and then pinky on the sweep downwards, and the opposite fingering on the sweep back up. But what fingers are you using for the Maj7 arpeggios? It's a bit quick for me, but it looks like you're rolling your middle finger across the G and B strings, is that right?

anyonecanplayguitar

Hi Boyd. Yes, I probably should have mentioned this in the video. For the major 7s I am rolling my second finger on the G and B. That's the smoothest option for me. Using fingers 2 and 3 could also work, but then there's less time to get your 4th finger up to the high note. Just try both and see what you prefer.

Boyd Anderson

Many thanks Adrian. Tricky technique for me at first, but with a bit of practice, rolling now seems better than fingers 2 and 3, which were getting a bit tangled. Thanks.
