Hi everyone. A soul guitar classic today from Steve Cropper/Booker T & The MGs. I show you how to play some of the riffs and licks from the record and I've also translated the Hammond organ melody onto the the guitar. Hope you have some fun learning it.

(Also, I'm getting a strange message on YouTube saying that the video is partially blocked in certain territories, possibly Belarus. So in the event I have any viewers in Belarus (unlikely, but possible) please let me know and I'll see if I can work out another way for you to see the video!)

Tab and backing below as usual.

Happy Halloween, and hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hello Adrian, I'm in the US and it's blocked. UGH!

anyonecanplayguitar

Oh no, how irritating. I've never come across this issue with any other video. I'll see if I can upload a copy of the video to Google or Dropbox for people who can't see it on YouTube.

Tom Richards

As soon as I see the Tele, I know it's going to be good

Treden Wagoner

Thank you. Love Booker T and Steve Cropper!

Bob R

Awesome , love your R&B soul stuff

Vincent Mulrenan

Ade when you go to collections on Patreon there’s hardly anything there It would be great to have some sort of go to when you want to access an artist/song Went to see the Psychedelic Furs Monday.Any chance

Mick Marston

fab, love this track. Thank you.

Jeff

Booker T & The MGs was my second favorite instrumental group after The Ventures when I was a teenager. I love your treatment of this song. I don't understand why there are two pdf files that appear to be the same. Don't you usually include a Guitar Pro file? Also, I'm in the USA and have no trouble with the video.

Chad Perry

Not blocked for me in LA USA

Hi Adrian. Thanks for another awesome Steve Cropper lesson. BTW - it is not blocked where I am in Southern California. Cheers!

Bryan True

Hi Adrian, Fantastic as usual. There are 2 links for the same pdf. Should 1 of those be the gp file?

Peter Beck

I loved the comparison at the end , "the gear" section. With the little bit of overdrive it made the whole thing pop in a beautiful way. Thank you for that. Peter - Morro Bay, Ca.

Hi Adrian, nice performance. Really liked this play through. Thanks.

NB

Excellent lesson Adrian - thanks!

ThD

Hi, sorry to spoil the atmosphere...No gp but twice the pdf

Andrew Trapani

Hi all, Completely agree with ThD. Gently and kindly asking if we can have a gp file, please.

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks Peter, yes just a touch of overdrive makes a big difference to the overall sound.

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, I've not really used the collections section on Patreon as it's quite a new thing. But if it would be helpful to people I can start organising videos in that way.

Soul and surf licks/solos are ya you need! FYI, have you tried the UK made 'scran' pedal, it does the Klone sort of light-drive thing, but in an Oasis/Strokes (or Neil Young/Beatles) style manner?

Eric Larsen

This is great—thank you, Adrian. One of my favorite tracks from one of my favorite bands. More Cropper, please!

Gary Baldwin

Not bllocked in Seattle - thanlk goodness. Great lesson, Adrian. Thank you. Unrelatedly, here's a plug for a lesson on Daisy Glaze by Big Star if ever you can.

Michael Clark

Very, very nicely done!! Kudos! And the overdrive is perfect - just the right amount of "dirt" and color!

Marcel Grenier

Thank you, for your lessons on my hero. RIP Steve Cropper 😢
