Hello from rural France! I'm here on holiday for the next couple of weeks. Internet is slow and patchy, but I've managed to get this week's video happening for you.

A lot of people have requested that I look at this one. It's a classic song, and fairly easy to play. As usual I try and get into some of the finer details of how it's done. I've made a full backing track too.

Tab and GP files and backing can be found below.

I've extended the backing so that it follows the arrangement of the original recording. I suggest you listen to the original to get a feel for which bit goes where, how many repeats etc. as it can get a bit disorientating with no vocals to give you a sense of the structure.

Hope you enjoy learning the song. There will be no video next week, I'm afraid. I'm going to be resting and recharging. But I have got my Baby Taylor travel guitar with me, and I will be doing a bit of playing and thinking about future content that I can bring to you. Have a great couple of weeks everyone.

Speak soon,

Adrian

Thank you Adrian! Have a great break--you've left us plenty of great things to keep busy with!

Love your channel! How can I convert the .gp file on a Mac?

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks Robert. The .gp file is an optional thing, the same tab as the PDF just in Guitar Pro format. You'll need the latest version of Guitar Pro to open it. It means you can play back the tab, change speed, edit it etc. Think Guitar Pro do a free demo if you want to try it and see what it's about. Hope that helps.

Hi Adrian, I just finished the second Stephen Morris book and decided to learn this song I love so much. Belated thanks for this great lesson, and I must admit I'd found the double-tracked guitars a bit odd but then came across a video of them playing at the Student Union in Manchester in 1981 with Gillian playing pretty much the same parts as Bernard. It all made sense.

Thanks Simon. Yes, I think I saw that video when I was researching this lesson - you're right both guitars playing basically the same thing. Must get round to reading the Stephen Morris books - I've heard they're excellent.

Hi Adrian, I've been searching for the backing track for Ceremony. Any thoughts where I can find the backing track? Thanks!
