Hi patrons! This week I'm looking at a track which according to a quote I saw on Wikipedia is "arguably the most important of the early post-punk hits". There are lots of inventive and catchy rhythm parts to be found in this one.

And I'm attaching the backing, tab and GP file below.

Have fun with it.

Have a great weekend. Speak next Friday,

Adrian

Hong Kong Garden by Siouxsie and the Banshees | Post-Punk Guitar Lesson

"Arguably the most important of the early post-punk hits" according to Wikipedia. Also apparently one of Thurston Moore's favourite songs... Man this brings back memories. Saw 'em live for the Cites in Dust tour, a killer show that stands out almost 35 years later as one I'm glad I didn't miss! Thanks Adrian

Wonderful, one of my favorite songs by Siouxsie. Easy to learn, just the speed...

Amazing! I've never seen them live sadly, but there are some great shows on YouTube.

Thanks very much for this Adrian. Keep them coming. It reminds me of my misspent youth. I was lucky in enough to meet Siouxsie as a drunken 16 year old back in 1980. She was an absolute charmer.

Excellent tutorial for an equally excellent track - Thanks Adrian. I was interested to read the Wiki info about Hong Kong Garden being written about the restaurant of the same name in Chislehurst - (an old stomping ground of mine) and the trouble the staff had at the time. It's called something different now (Noble House) but I'm sure everyone still refers to the place as Hong Kong Garden : - )

Yes, I read the same thing - I never knew quite what the song was about lyrically. Now tempted to go and visit the place on a kind of post-punk pilgrimage!

I didn't know this until after I moved from Chislehurst :(
