Hello all. This week's video is about using scales in a musical way. The lesson was prompted by an excellent request from one of you lovely patrons that I do something on this subject. (Do keep the lesson requests coming - I am listening.) It's in fact something I get asked about quite a lot, and something many players struggle with.

The points I make in the video should apply to any style of music, and I hope that players at every level of ability will find the tips helpful.

Since this is more of a conceptual video, and all the examples were improvised, there are no tabs this week. But if there are any specific licks you'd like to see written out, I can do that.

Here's a link to the video:

My backing track can be found above - hope you enjoy improvising along to it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will speak to you here next week,

Adrian

Would love the guitar pro files for these solos. Pardon me if you have posted them elsewhere. I just couldn't find them

The last couple of songs you taught have me listening to my old records, so much fun! And this weeks video is really useful. I've seen other videos on this same topic but yours gave me some really good ideas. Looking forward to Friday! Thanks Adrian

Hi Adrian, I'm a bit late on this one but I'm pretty sure the main solo in Made of Stone is a good example of what you are talking about. I'm sure it is (well definitely can be, anyway) played in one position with bends and double stops etc. as you recommend. I don't think there is anything in it that is outside the pentatonic box and it's a belter.
