Here's the backing to accompany this week's lesson. 2 bar count in. I've looped it, so we have 3 choruses in total. Enjoy playing along!

Hi Adrian, in your introduction you say that their are better ways to spend your time in the practice room than learning a solo note for note. Could you eleborate on that? As I studied Jazz guitar in college i used to spend many time learning full jazz solos note for note. I'm curious on your take on it. Kind regards, Freek

Hi Freek. Yes, don't get me wrong, I think learning other people's solos can be extremely valuable. In jazz there's certainly a long tradition of transcribing, learning Charlie Parker solos etc. I think my point is that it can be very time consuming, so you need to be very selective about which solos you learn, make sure they're at an appropriate level and the they will really help you move forward as a musician. I often see people get bogged down and frustrated learning complex full solos. Sometimes it's good just just to work on a lick or two, or to prioritise more general things such as fretboard knowledge and technique.

Hello Adrian, I've really enjoyed your R&Bisms. Don Covay hired the very young Jimi Hendrix for Mercy Mercy. It is one of my favorite examples of rhythm guitar yet no lesson exists. The Stones version is fine but a very different take on the song. Hope you can get to it some time.
