Following on from the recent video I did looking at my favourite 'alternative' (whatever that means) guitar solos, here's a fabulous selection of weird and wonderful solos as chosen by you lovely people, either here on the Patreon page or in the YouTube comments. I talk a bit about each solo and we learn a few tasty licks along the way.

Here's the link -

And as I say in the video, let me know if you'd like to see full tutorial on any of these.

Hope you enjoy the video! Speak next week,

Adrian

Benjamin Michell

found it on YouTube but that link is definitely busted.

Yes, "removed by the uploader." Adrian, the suspense will kill us!

Sorry, should be OK now. The initial upload didn't work, and I used the old link in this message.

Mark Orr

What!? No Nigel Tufnel.... jeez Louise!

David Pollock

The squeeze solo is sounding awesome, Adrian!

Haroun Haroun

since you didn't have the 'stockholm syndrome' solo, how about 'some kinda fatigue' by Yo La Tengo, the solo on the 'slow' version. Lots of New York style avant ostrich guitar mixed with Neil Young..

Thanks David - think I'm going to work that up into a full lesson, fabulous solo! Need to get practising.

Yes, great - will try and do a proper YLT lesson soon. Love a bit of Ostrich guitar!

Hey Adrian -- Fun video! Let's work up some lessons!! I vote for: Carry the Zero (my supported pick made it!) -- right, Pacific Northwest Indie w/ hard Neil Young crush -- they do a fine version of Cortez the Killer (one of your previous picks!) Paint A Vulgar Picture -- always loved this one. Permafrost -- or any more McGeoch really -- creepy song :) The Lung -- you've done some J.Mascis already, right? More is good. Stockholm Syndrome -- any YLT really -- so much to choose from. I haven't spent enough time listening for the guitar parts to learn. Just every time I listen I want to play. Goodness everywhere in their music. I'm partial to albums: Painful, Electr-O-Pura, I Can Hear the Heart... But like it all. Thanks for really digging into every lesson!
